Utterance Choir Makers’ Yard, Thursdays, 7.30 – 9pm Led by composer Verity Standen, Utterance Choir is a new drop-in singing group for anyone who likes to make noise with others. You don’t need any experience (although seasoned singers are very welcome), and you don’t need to read music, as Verity teaches everything by ear. Verity will bring along a range of songs to get things started, from Björk to Bulgarian folk tunes. And then she’ll go away and arrange anything that the group suggests – from sea shanties to classic soul – with a focus on rich and playful harmonies. The choir is run on a donate-what-you-can basis. From Balfour to Banksy Holy Trinity Church, April 2nd, 7.30pm, £6 Frome and Bradford-on-Avon Friends of Palestine are jointly hosting a presentation of the film From Balfour to Banksy. This film tells the story of how, just over 100 years ago, Arthur Balfour, then UK Foreign Secretary, had a vision which ultimately led to an occupied Palestine today. It also shows the vision of another Englishman: the contemporary artist Banksy, who has created in Palestine a hotel that is also a remarkable, satirical art installation. Tickets available from Hunting Raven Books, via EventBrite or on the door. 4
