March 18, 2017 Redmond Marriott Please bring this catalog with you to the auction. 1
Welcome Every once in a while I grab the globe in my office and give it a spin. There is something quite magical about spinning globes. Cities and countries far away get closer and the world seems smaller. Upon closer consideration, the reality is some of the countries no longer exist and new countries and names should appear. This particular globe is somewhat of a historical relic, and yet, as it spins, possibilities jump from the surface. There is a great deal to see and understand – cultures to explore, monuments to appreciate, foods to taste and people to get to know. The wonder of the world rests with its vast complexities. And yet the simple spinning of the globe on my book shelf offers up the possibility of exploration and learning. Each revolution reveals something different. So I wonder, how can I go places, meet new people, experience new cultures? Where do I begin? Maybe at the Redmond Marriott! I am excited to welcome you to the 2017 Little School Auction – Turn the World Around! Together we can make it possible to open your children’s minds and hearts to new experiences, new people, new ideas and places unimagined. The evening will be full of opportunity with good food, friends and new people. We have raffles to win, silent auction items, trips to bid on, fun experiences to buy, amazing class projects and a raise the paddle to support professional development for the teachers and staff that make the spectacular happen for your children. This is a Saturday night to celebrate and support The Little School. So grab your bid number, loosen up your shoulders and wrists and make this a night to remember. Don’t hold back, bid early, bid often. Peter

Live Auction 17. Katie’s Class Project
As the year comes to an end and new adventures begin, we look back on the time spent together in Katie’s class. We discovered the natural world in wonder and amazement, while exploring it through a scientific eye. These virtues have been embedded in the everyday experience at The Little School. Each student created their own individual composites of plants, stones and mossy terrain out of felting wool. These unique, handmade pieces are combined to make an impressive vertical garden wall. Inspired by nature, the final piece is an assembly of wild imagination, technical proficiency and acquired artistic principles, while serving a creative purpose and beautiful outcome. Priceless 18. Live Auction 20. Heidi’s Class Auction Project
The kids in Heidi’s class, along with their parents, voted to create a beautiful flower sculpture for this year’s auction. They traveled to the Kirkland Art Center’s ceramics lab to make the flower heads, then worked together to attach the flowers to stems of armature wire, finally planting the flowers in a wooden base with river rocks. This truly collaborative project is a lovely example of what we can do together in community with our children. Priceless 21. Jackson Hole for 6 Nights

The spirit of “ubuntu” – an African philosophy that means “I am what I am because of who we all are” – is no more apparent than in Joyce’s class. These strong and deep community ties that Joyce brings forward in her teachings has brought our children a deeper connection to classroom peers and to the greater world, and is what has inspired the artwork for this year. Painting with tissue paper, the children formed an imprint of hexagon shapes, a representation of their individuality coming together into a tessellation demonstrating our interconnectedness with each other. Live Auction 26. Nancy’s Class Project
Drawing inspiration from local artist Leif Holland, students in Nancy’s class carefully selected and decorated locally gathered tree limbs. Two handcrafted box frames encompass these decorated limbs, interspersed with those that have been left natural. Playing on transitions in the natural world, light and shadow, and our own effect on the world around us, this piece is an expression of the container we lovingly hold so these young curious minds and hearts can express themselves to their fullest capacity. Priceless 27. Mem’s Class Project
Turning trash into treasure is something Mem’s class has embraced all year, learning that the power of a little imagination (and a lot of sticky tape) can turn anything into the creations of their dreams. With $2,500 or six months’ worth of wealth advisory services (whichever comes first), you will be empowered to bring simplicity to the complexities of life. $160.00 ULT Wealth Advisors 2055. 2013 Leonetti Cellars Reserve Red
Leonetti Cellars’ Cabernet-dominant blend has a stunning nose of tar, iron minerality, cassis, and dried flowers, especially lavender. On the palate, the wine is more powerful and pure, repeating the note of cassis liqueur and black olive compote. All the elements of fruit, acidity, and tannin are perfectly balanced, ensuring a lengthy cellaring life if you have the patience to hide it in your cellar. $175.00 Muneer Mirza & Sarah Cosentino

Silent Two 2056. Betz Family Wines Red Basket
Betz Family Winery strives to create wines of individual character, a blend of richness, balance and pleasure. Their winemaking focuses on the purity of the individual varieties and the vineyards they come from. These four bottles are a great addition to any wine cellar. Three bottles of 2013 Cuvée Frangin Blend – This blend weaves together seamlessly, providing a compelling richness and balance. The palate offers plush fruit flavors, and this is where the Rhone varietals show their presence. Crisp acidity, and velvety tannins support flavors of plum, pomegranate, and strawberry. The finish is sweet, and reflects the marriage of Bordeaux and Rhone varietals. The Cuvée Frangin is certainly capable of improving with bottle age, but is irresistible now. One bottle of 2014 La Côte Patriarche – This incredible Syrah yields a layered, awesomely pure bouquet of black and blue fruits, violets, herbes de Provence and graphite, with cool climate notes of olives and violets emerging with time in the glass. Big, rich, layered and more sexy and seamless than the Côte Rousse, it needs 3-4 years of cellaring and will keep through 2034. $162.00 Jeff & Julie Guillot
