LOVE NEVER FAILS

Pastor Craig & Evangelist Tomika Prouty

1How did you and your husband meet? Craig and I met while serving in the U.S. Army. After a brief courtship we were inseparable. We married in 2011 in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Bible declares in Proverbs 18:22, “He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor from the Lord.” We have a beautiful blended family; Kortneye, Samantha, Rachel and Faith. We thank God for bringing us together as one solid family unit.

2What are your greatest

strengths as a couple in overcoming adversity and negativity?

One of our greatest strengths is the love of God. This love allows us to stand against bias and adversity. Together we pray, fast and continue to seek God in all that we do. It is His guidance that provides us with a biblical focus allowing us to be spirit led. Being led by the spirit strengthens our bond and prevents the world from changing our lenses of His truth. That allows us to love our neighbor as the Word of God commands.

3Have you ever dealt with jealousy?

Yes, I have dealt with jealousy. This particular incident

involved a friend who appeared to be supportive of me and my husband’s courtship. However, as our relationship progressed and the announcement was made that we were to be wed the dynamics of our friendship changed. Her behavior reflected a spirit of jealousy that insinuated I was good enough to date but not to marry; especially a man of another race.

As I grew in Christ I began to realize jealousy is a real demon and it needs to be severed at the root. It sows discord in the body of Christ and has destroyed many relationships. Jealousy can ultimately cause pain to those who are on the receiving end. We should never project our insecurities on another person. If you ever find yourself experiencing jealousy, envy or covetousness, pray, fast and seek God for healing and deliverance so that you may move forward with a productive life in Christ.

4How long have you

been married and what is the foundational scripture your marriage is built upon?

We have been married for nine years.

Our foundational Scripture is 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NKJV) and it declares, “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

5What challenges have

you faced in regards to acceptance of your relationship before friends, family and daily interactions with others?

My husband and I have been blessed with family and friends who have been very supportive and accepting of our interracial marriage.

Initially, when we experienced indirect or blatant racism, bias or prejudice it was a challenge. One of the reasons why it was so challenging to us is because as Soldiers, we had traveled the world and interracial relationships were common. Many say, “I do not see color”, I believe that is an excuse to shy away from addressing the reality of racism. We do indeed see color. Until we have a candid discussion concerning the reality of racism we will not be able to move beyond the surface.

6What advice would you

give other interracial couples to encourage and strengthen them?

We encourage you to show the love of Christ. Understanding, racism is a spiritual battle, which can only be fought and won through prayer by seeking the Lord and walking in love. Do not allow the world to project stereotypes that separate or subjugate one race over the other. We are all equal in God’s eyes. Mark 10:9 declares, “Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”

Pastor Craig & Evangelist Tomika Prouty’s Bio:

Iwas awarded an Associate of Arts in Justice Administration from Hawaii Pacific University (September 2007). Pastor Craig and I attend Middle Georgia College of Theology. We are pursuing a Graduate degree. (June 2021).

Pastor Craig is a co-author of Unshakable Faith: Twenty Testimonies by Men & Women of Great Faith. However, this is not his first published work. Inspired by the untimely death of his father from cancer, in 2016 he authored Daily Message: Truth Revealed. God later inspired him to share his daily messages with the world. In July 2018, he released the Daily Message Truth Revealed App.

I am truly passionate about my relationship with Christ. This passion is why I was inspired to pen my first Memoir, A Soldier’s Story: Strength Despite Adversity (March 2018). I discussed the hard truth about war and how I overcame many obstacles that were meant to destroy me. But God! I co-authored Daughters of Triumph (November 2018) with 20 amazing women. I completed my first book collaboration Unshakable Faith: Twenty Testimonies by Men & Women of Great Faith (April 2020) under my publishing company, House of Stone Publishing. This book contains twenty powerful testimonies by men and women who overcame unforgettable trials and tribulations by activating their faith. It was written to inspire, encourage and motivate you to walk in greater faith and obedience, receiving all that God has for you. I also co-authored Urgency: Releasing Right Now Prayers (December 2020) with 37 amazing men and women. I co-produced (visionary) Sisters of War: The Reunion (2017) which captured three veterans combat experience to Iraq/Afghanistan. Glory to God! To be continued…
