4 Things To Do in South Carolina There’s more to South Carolina than sweet tea and southern hospitality. From the Dogwood Festival to the Sweet Potato Festival, people in the Palmetto State have street festivals throughout the year. The state is also known for its state parks. With 47 parks in 46 counties, there are enough state parks to explore a new one every weekend for a whole year! If you are planning to visit South Carolina, here’s a list of things you must experience: Enjoy Southern Comfort Food: It doesn’t matter where you are in America; soul food is always southern food! From boiled peanuts and hush puppies to pecan pie and biscuits and gravy, there’s nothing more comforting than southern food. Nowhere but the South is the concept of nose to tail eating so religiously followed. From fried chitterlings and hash made from pig organs to chicken feet, no part of an animal is wasted. What more can you say about a place that gave America barbecue! Go Wild Water Rafting: Almost everyone in South Carolina is a water lover thanks to the dozens of creeks, lakes, and swimming holes in the city. You can go kayaking on Lake Jocassee or one of the many saltwater creeks or sign up for Chattooga river rafting. As Dave Dunlop of The Maritime Explorer says, Chattooga River rafting started not long after the iconic 1971 movie Deliverance came out, but the notoriety of the film helped kickstart the business. If you want an adrenaline rush without taking too much of a risk, you can also go jet skiing on Myrtle Beach. Visit Charleston: For a glimpse of history, visit Charleston! We know it was here that the first shots of the Civil War were fired, but did you know that Charleston was one of the first cities in America to have a theatre? The Dock Street Theater is still around and is even believed to be haunted. And if you are a lover of art and architecture, there’s a lot to see in this little town. From grand old homes that survived the Civil War to iconic art deco buildings, there are plenty of rare and iconic architectural styles to be explored in Charleston. Visit Myrtle Beach: If you are in South Carolina, a visit to the Myrtle Beach is a must! With 60 miles of sand and the wonderful Atlantic Ocean, family fun is guaranteed. If motorized sports aren’t for you, try kayaking or paddle boarding. If you love theater and dramatics, watch a show at the Alabama

Theater. And if all this makes you hungry, grab some Frogmore stew from one of the many seafood restaurants in the area. Resource Box: The Author loves the Deep South. From Chattooga River rafting to seafood restaurant hopping on Myrtle Beach, he loves chronicling his experiences in South Carolina.
