PARENTS DON'T UNDERSTAND Students have written and recorded a commentary from the sophomore class that most youths understand and adults do not. CTE Teacher - Mr. Sykes

The whole world right now is under pressure. Kids right now need to be on their best behavior since being under their parent's supervision with the shelter in place. My mom always tells me about all she did for me and for herself. She came to the United States and made it on her own. She often tells me to try my best and about all the advantages I have because of having papers at birth. I was 7 when I first remember my mom having that talk with me. I was young and still a child. I felt pressured to be just as strong as her.

These lessons of being responsible and looking after my brother or my sister aren't something I should not learn but it's something I understand helps out my mom. As the daughter of a very strong woman I have seen the challenges that being a parent has brought upon my mom, the hope she gives me to keep going and achieving all she has hoped for me is a part of my life I'm always going to carry. That pressure of being strong all the time has gone away, and acceptance for myself has entered my life. I've been struggling with depression for a while but just like many others I live with it and I don't let it conquer me. I express it and often talk about it to bring awareness. The pressure of pretending all is good is gone. Thank you, mom, you have been a real support system for me!

Parents often think that kids should be introduced to ‘real-life’ at a young age but I’m not so sure about that. Introducing kids to what parents think is real life is harmful at least in my case, kids are expected to act like adults and not develop like other kids. By that I mean that when I was a 7-8 year old I was put to clean after my brother and take him to school, I didn't get to be taken care of and till this day I still take care of everyone around me like my 2year-old sister.

My mom and many more parents who do this to their kids could be more clever on how the lessons of ‘real-life’ are introduced to children. Being patient and kind to the mistakes their children might do is key. Not setting pressure but hope and encouragement is also something I think would be better than parents that say “I'm going to kick you out as soon as you're eighteen” My mom has not personally said this but I'm sure other parents have.

Things youth understand that adults don’t. Most adults expect you to know what you want to be or do when you get older. Every adult wants their kids to go to college after high school. But not every kid wants to go to college or have their life planned out ahead of time. That is what has kids growing up and trying so hard to meet their parent's expectations instead of doing what they want to do, what they think is best for them. I understand that the adults just want to set us on the right path or the path they didn't have growing up. The only person who knows what’s best for you is you. When it comes to making decisions about the future adults should just give us time to figure out what we want for our future. Adults can be more like guidance for us instead of making kids do something because it makes you really proud. Adults don't understand that we don't always want what they want or do what they want us to do.

Adults don't understand our new music Generation or what type of music we listen to. Some older adults think some of the new music we listen to is too explicit or violent. I would agree but that where the music draws our attention in these years there has been so much going on and many things changed that when we hear a song that relates to our situation or how we feel we like it because we can relate to it. And kids don't always have someone to talk about stuff with so when we hear people make songs about it is kinda like a pep talk to get you through it. HEVEN BRISCOE

"For our first project focusing on sound production, students become DJs, making playlists of new and old music of different styles and put them together to provide the soundtrack for different occasions. Dance party, road trip, memorial, art show, family dinner, or whatever event you can think of. Each occasion needs its own specific sound to create an environment and it is the DJ’s job to facilitate this process. " Mr. Basta

"Senior Year" by Jorge Guiterrez

Politics, Covid & Our Senior Year College, Covid-19, Outcries, Elections what do these things make me feel? Stress and plain fear the suffocation of being stuck in a single place without having the opportunity to live my last high school year with my friends. The stress in getting accepted to a college of my liking whilst being worried that we might continue another 4 years with the increase of hate, racism, and plain ignorance. Seeing headlines every other day of an innocent person of color being killed by the same people that are here to protect us insights fear in me. I feel fear as a person of color being stopped by the man with a badge.

"The stress in getting accepted to a college of my liking whilst being worried that we might continue another 4 years with the increase of hate, racism, and plain ignorance.." Elections are up, red states begin to increase. I feel defeat. Days go by, the election continues and we begin to see hope. I start to feel hope we begin to see states flip and the votes are hit. Happiness begins to rise with a new president-elect, votes were counted and the people spoke. I feel relief that the first step in healing this country is upon. My worries in college becomes to decrease. The relief in which I know, we know that the end of the pandemic the new president-elect is near. I feel relief. - Angel Hernandez

ART THERAPY Q & A WITH

With Katherine Cruz

WHY DO YOU PAINT?

I paint because it helps me to release stress and whenever I am painting my imagination starts to act up and I like to concentrate and listen to music. I feel like it also helps me with my mental health. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN PAINTING?. DO YOU THINK THAT ART IS A FORM OF THERAPY?

I started to paint when I was little like at 7 years old but when I came to the United State I stopped. I began painting again about two years ago. I feel like the art that I do is a form of therapy for my own health

WHAT DO YOU WANT PEOPLE TO FEEL WHEN THEY SEE YOUR ARTWORK?

Something that I want people to feel when they see my artwork is something that it could help to escape from reality or to let all their stress out because it is important that at one point all escape from reality or to calm down.

THE ENTITY'S PRETERNATURAL FABRICATION (SOON TO BE LEGION X READER FANFICTION) BY WINTERS_NIGHT/BRIANNA OLLER)

Prologue Y/n was left with a decision. She held Franks's hand tightly as the entity hovered over them with a menacing aura. "You are testing my patience child! Choose your path or I'll make you." Not a second was spared into making this last effort decision... She loved her partner so much that would become a killer, but that would mean hurting her friends! She has always been neutral but to choose between one or the other is unreasonable. Y/n was born neither killer nor survivor. But I guess that's what it always wanted...

The entity has strange ways of amusing itself. At first, it just kidnapped humans that didn't belong and matched them with killers to make the ultimate sacrifice. For four years this game of cat and mouse has on with the same results... The killer sacrifices the survivors and win. or The survivors escape and win. Or A few dies and few win but it's still a loss for the killer. In rare cases, no one wins... As the year progresses the entity tires at the same routine over and over again. It wanted something new, something different... The entity manifested a beating heart, then adds blood which forms into the tissue to hold more of the organs that the entity threads together. Soon raw flesh and bones start to entangle to make a deformed mangled like human.

"Hmn" The Entity was not pleased with its creation, So it squeezed the mangled body like it was clay to form its image. There were still bones poking out of its flesh and the body had no hair, gender, or facial features. It was a grotesque sight to behold but the entity knew well that this thing would not survive if it resumed its life. So instead the entity summoned a trial between the doctor and four survivors of all different ethnicities and different genders. The entity told survivors that were chosen to lose on purpose. Claudette, Jake, Steve, and Jane were all confused even the doctor couldn't possibly figure out what it was playing at. Nevertheless, it promised great rewards for all who agreed and walked into its trap. This was all a plan to dissect them and study their dead bodies to make them the perfect subject!

The entity had learned so much about how the human body functions and reformed its creation accordingly. It was only until it noticed a few things that were still missing like body hair, eye and hair color, and skin pigmentation. But she was perfect enough for it to tolerate. It's better than a useless flesh bag of blood and bones. But before the entity could send it down to its realm it had to encrypt her brain with basic knowledge of the world around her. Once completed the entity watches her as she slowly descended into its realm and he observed her quietly... She was left on the ground to await a world where it's either kill or be killed.

To be Continued... The Entity's Preternatural Fabrication
