Making a statement regarding the new Prime Minister South Yorkshire’s Mayor said: “Congratulations to Liz Truss MP on her appointment as our new Prime Minister. Many may not have voted for her, but we are all now relying on her ideas, energy, and “I’lljudgement.bewriting to the new Prime Minister this week, extending the invitation I offered to her predecessor to visit South Yorkshire, and in turn reassure our communities that this government is committed to raising its focus beyond London and the South“Oureast. communities across South Yorkshire need to feel confident that they can rely on the new Prime Minister and her government to improve the health and wealth of our region, even more so at a time where all too many people in our region are faced with tough decisions about whether to heat their homes or put food on the table.
“In this region we have the ambition to build an economy that’s innovative, sustainable and fair. I want to see the Truss Government step up to match our aspiration with the tools and resources we need to make South Yorkshire thrive. If not, the people of South Yorkshire will see this Prime Minister as it saw the last, with promises that are left undelivered.”
Mayor says governMent is ‘Missing in action’ during cost of living crisis
South Yorkshire’s Mayor Oliver Coppard is calling on the government do more to help people as the cost of living crisis deepens. Visiting a retrofit scheme in Barnsley last week, the day Ofgem revealed how much energy bills will rise in the Autumn, Oliver Coppard says ministers are missing in action and letting down households already struggling to make ends Southmeet.Yorkshire is particularly vulnerable to increasing energy costs, given that almost 1 in 5 families in the region are already in fuel poverty, meaning they already struggle to meet the costs of running and heating their homes. Retrofitting homes to make them more energy efficient can cut energy bills by a quarter. South Yorkshire’s Mayor Oliver Coppard said: “Rocketing energy prices and rising inflation are already inflicting real misery on many people here in South Yorkshire, even before andpovertyhighest“Weannouncement.Friday’shavesomeoftheratesoffuelinthecountryworkersherearepaid almost £2 an hour less than the national average. These sorts of schemes should be scaled-up at pace across the country; not only to save people money, but to create greener, warmer homes and help us decarbonise our region.”

• Relax and clear your mind in the evening The stresses of day-today life tend to stick with us even through to bedtime, making it harder to stop our minds from racing and shaking the everlasting feeling of worry. That is why unwinding before bed can have many benefits, like preventing anxiety and depression as well as lowering the risk of heart attacks. Research by charity will-writing scheme, Will Aid, found 57% of adults have not discussed their wishes after death with their loved ones, or have only mentioned them briefly. The same data also showed 54% of people in Yorkshire have not yet made a will, meaning their estate would be distributed in accordance with the Rules of Intestacy, which may not reflect their true wishes. Lauren Smith, Partner at Taylor Bracewell, a local law firm taking part in their 10th Will Aid campaign this year, said: “Discussing your wishes for after you pass away is a difficult conversation, but it is far too important to avoid. By ensuring your loved ones are aware of your requests, which you then detail in your will, it will make an incredibly difficult time that much easier for them. Not only that, but a watertight will is the only way to ensure your wishes are protected when you die.” Will Aid month returns this November and members of the public can now see which firms are taking part and make an enquiry. The annual campaign involves solicitors waiving the fee for writing basic wills and instead invite clients to make a voluntary donation Will Aid’s nine partner charities.

Military veterans charity Sheffield Ex Services Home Mess is coming to Crystal Peaks this September. Launched in 2015, Home Mess is a group of veterans who meet on a monthly basis to foster comradeship within civil life, offering an informal and relaxed space for ex service personnel returning to Sheffield and giving advice on the help and support available available.
The pop up event at Crystal Peaks on September 9, 10 and 11 will include a fundraising table top sale and also a chance to talk and pick up information about the work the organisation is doing with ex service personnel from all four branches of the military. “We know there are many ex service people throughout Sheffield who have probably never even heard of us or know anything about what we are trying to achieve,” said spokesman Tony Cooper. “We are a charity that looks after the problems that may occur for ex service people when they are back in civvy street. We make no recognition of people’s situation other than the fact that they need help and we aim to put them in touch with the people who can provide that help. We are hoping that our presence at Crystal Peaks will introduce us to many more of the people we aim to be supporting.”

“We have probably played worse and won games this season. We created some good chances through George Miller and Kyle Hurst who hit the post early in the second-half. “We have some good characters in the team and we take it on the chin. We don’t get carried away when we win and we do the same when we lose. “A defeat can be a good thing to keep us grounded and provide us a clip round the head. We will turn it into a positive and pull our socks up and go again.” Rovers’ 3-1 defeat was the “Woody has been brilliant. Physically today for him it was a tall ask. Darren Moore reflected on the derby defeat against Barnsley and said he will analyse the game and move swiftly back on to the training ground. Moore said Wednesday were under par and not themselves, leading to a disappointing display at GoalsHillsborough.fromDevante Cole and substitute James Norwood saw the Reds shot that may have taken a deflection from just outside the penalty area.

“On the whole we really dug in for a good point and it will feel and it will look even better tomorrow morning I think.
Lowe appeared to pull up with a hamstring issue as he chased back and was subsequently replaced by Basham. And right on the stroke of half time, City wasted another golden opportunity to restore parity. Estupinan split the Blades backline with a pass and with Foderingham off his line Tufan opted to try and dink it over him, thankfully it landed on the roof of the net. The visitors started the second period as they did the first, on the front foot and having got the better of Figueredo, Ndiaye will have been disappointed not to have doubled United’s advantage. Ahmedhodžić was then cautioned by referee Donohue for a high challenge on Figueredo as he looked to flick on Doyle’s cross. After Longman had fired over on the angle and Brewster had replaced the hardworking McBurnie, United made sure of the points as BERGE drove into the area before scoring with the aid of a deflection off Greaves, with Ndiaye claiming the assist having BREAKS
United could have doubled their lead four minutes as Berge rounded Ingram having latched on to Doyle’s through ball intended for McBurnie, but Hull scrambled back and cleared. But it was Foderingham at the other end, who made the next telling contribution for the Blades, denying Estupinan with a tremendous double save after a rare error by Norwood left United Unfortunately, exposed.
“I thought that we Rovers boss Gary McSheffrey is looking for a response from his side after defeat to promotion rivals Mansfield Town. Stags captain Ollie Clarke opened the scoring with an unstoppable volley before Lee Tomlin leveled things up for Rovers from the penalty spot. In the second-half, Rovers got off to a good start with Kyle Hurst hitting the post, but George Maris ensured Rovers captain Adam Clayton believes defeat to promotion rivals Mansfield Town keeps the squads’ feet on the ground as the unbeaten run comes to an end. Clayton gave credit to Mansfield for their pressing and thinks the defeat can be used as a positive wakeup call after a good start to the campaign. He said: “I thought Mansfield were good at keeping us trapped in our half and they were sharper. We will improve from the game and come back stronger.
“We know how motivated we have to be. There has never been a question on their attitude and application to the game and I’d still have been really proud even if they’d conceded in the last minute.”
The match was Rovers’ first defeat in seven tricky Sky Bet League Two games, so McSheffrey is not getting too down about the result. He added: “We are not going to get too down about the defeat. If you look at the first block of games this season we have a great points tally in “Ireturn.want a response and people must come into training next week to work hard to keep their shirt. “The result is a stinger, but it will motivate us to work harder. The players are disappointed. They know they need to respond to the defeat and react to it.”
“For our first block of seven games we have had a good start, so we are not going to get too down but we have a now week to put it right on the training ground.”
Rotherham United boss Paul Warne heaped praise on his side for ‘digging in’ against a talented Watford side with aspirations of an immediate Premier League return following the 1-1 draw at AESSEAL New York Stadium...
“But ultimately, they had more fight than us. It was disappointing not to see the fight from this team that I have seen in the last six “Theregames.were moments in the game where we lacked “Mansfield’scourage. game intelligence was good. They came to the EcoPower Stadium and did to us what we have been doing to other teams.”

“We had a good start to the game – probably one of the best starts we have had this season.
Despite being hit by a late, late sucker punch, Neil Thompson remained upbeat following the Owls Under-21s defeat to Bristol City on Monday. Robins centre back Joe Low headed a set piece winner in the last minute of stoppage time at ButHillsborough.coachThompson saw signs of progress from his young charges, whom he believes deserved something from the game. He said: “The first half was relatively even and we could have been better with our passing but second half we showed a lot more intensity to our play, we did that better, we were more aggressive when we were going forward. “That’s the area of improvement I wanted to see and we did that, particularly in the second “Bristolhalf. City had some senior boys playing so there was always the possibility that they would create something and when they got the chance they took it. “But overall I improvementsawfrom the last game and that wasimportant.”robbedSeri.
