Millers boss Matt Taylor was quick to pay tribute to the season-long efforts of his side as they preserved their Championship status against all the odds. The Millers ended their campaign with a goalless draw with already-relegated Wigan Athletic, but it mattered little, as Taylor’s side were serenaded by over
4,300 travelling fans, who provided a carnival feel to a rain-soaked DW Stadium in the season finale. “We did our work last week. It would have been nice to take three points from today. I thought we were quite bright in the first half. We created enough chances to probably be ahead in the game. The second half was a bit disjointed. I’m pleased to get to that 50 point mark. It’s a big boost for this football club. We’ve got a little bit of time to digest and reflect and improve for next season.”
“Now is the time to thank the fans for their efforts this season. We have ups and downs. We have had difficult times and good times but we have been successful in what we started out to be. This has given me more clarity in where I want to take this football club. “One of the reasons I came to this football club was to achieve something, and we have achieved something right now by staying at Championship level and getting to 50 points. We now have time to build again.”
