ALL DISEASE START IN THE GUT I was diagnosed with crohn's disease at age 17, my symptoms have healed, but I was still on meds, until a half a year ago, when I found "Fer-Real" lacto-fermented vegetables, now I am completely off meds. Chaim Moshe S. Monroe, NY
My kid has been dealing with eczema for almost 3 years now, we tried everything, all types of creams and therapies, We even contemplated a trip to Switzerland, since we found "Fer-Real" fermented vegetables & beverages, he looks much, much better, bear in mind it's only been a few weeks since we started.
After just a few weeks of eating fermented vegetables & drinks, I've seen a major change in my weight-loss Journey, I actually feel how it reseals my leaky gut, and those few extra stubborn pounds, are not so stubborn anymore... Chana K. Williamsburg

BEFORE YOU CUT THROUGH... In order to avoid any uncomfortable or sticky situations, please be aware that public schools are no-trespassing zones during school hours. Schools are now taking new safety measures, and strangers on school property will be reported. For example, the shortcut from Main Street to Robert Pitt Drive passes through Elmwood Elementary School and is considered school property. If you do trespass, they will potentially take legal action. Despite the inconvenience, please advise anyone who uses school shortcuts not to do so during school hours. Also, please keep in mind that weekdays during yom tov, such as Sukkos and Shavuos, are typical school days and shortcuts that pass through school property may not be used. MI KE’AMCHA YISROEL It was late Friday afternoon when we were driving down Smith Road in Nanuet. Suddenly, we felt a huge bump followed by a bang! An open manhole on the street had caused a tire blowout to our 12-passenger van! There we were, stranded in the middle of Nanuet on a busy street with two hours to Shabbos. One call to Chaverim was all we needed. Within 15 minutes, four Chaverim members showed up. With

their professionalism and expertise, we were back on the road just a short while later Thank you so much, Chaverim, for always being there in times of need! E.S.
A CHESED OPPORTUNITY Baruch Hashem, Monsey is gebentcht with special organizations and gemachim. Ashrei chelkam — surely they are bringing closer the Geulah Sheleimah. For many years, Chesed 24/7 used to offer a special service: delivering hot suppers at a discounted price, which were geared for children coming home from school when their mothers were incapable of preparing the meals, whether due to a new baby, hospitalization or for whichever reason. When the need would arise, I used to divide three to four portions for the entire family, and everybody was satisfied with their hearty, delicious meal. Now that this service is no longer being provided, I wanted to reach out to the greater community. Perhaps there’s someone who feels capable of establishing this type of service, which many would appreciate. It would be such a tremendous zechus. Anonymous
RE: FENDING OFF THE FLU (Inbox, Issue 169) I read the letter about fending off the flu with some surprise (though with today’s marketing and propaganda for flu shots, it’s not surprising). To me, it was quite apparent that the article cited was about real, natural immune boosters as opposed to flu shots and the like. And while I’m not here to speak for or against flu shots, it’s important to note that there are many strains of flu, and the shot is only designed to target three or four of them, leaving most of us vulnerable to the other strains anyway. The CDC and AAP themselves admit that the flu shot is only 36 percent effective and that getting vaccinated repeatedly can reduce the effectiveness. How can that be called “dealt with more aggressively”? However, it doesn’t take a genius to understand why it’s still being pushed... As a mother of 10+ kids, ka”h, I can attest to the truth of everything mentioned in the article. I was that responsible mother who gave the flu shot every season. My kids also got the flu every season. Three years ago, I decided to switch our lifestyle and eating habits. I incorporated probiotics, natural fats and many of the other things

mentioned in the article, as well as cut out margarine, most sugar and white flour from our diet. I also didn’t give the flu shot. And I haven’t seen the doctor for three years now... So why am I writing? It’s not to tell you to keep away from flu shots. Every mother needs to do the hishtadlus she feels is right. But to say that a man-made (somewhat failed) attempt at health and prevention is better than Hashem’s natural and powerful healing gifts to us? That’s a strong statement. Never underestimate the power of real foods, because we really are what we eat. To good health! B.G.

(Re: Exploring the Pain in a Migraine Brain, Issue 168) Thank you, Shevy Knoll, for a beautiful and informative article on migraines. I, too, started suffering from migraines at the age of ten. I still recall sitting through math class, trying to make sense of all the numbers, while I felt like someone was doing construction inside my head. The hammering was horrid, and boy was I overjoyed when the migraines started coming less frequently! In hindsight, maybe I wouldn’t have been so giddy with excitement had I known that my migraines would be replaced by excruciating back pain. That happened when I was 17... At that point I would’ve grabbed a migraine with open arms, so as not to have to endure the unbearable pain in my

back. I was pretty much bedridden at that point, only getting out to run from one doctor to the other in hope of a cure. Until I learned that there was none. Baruch Hashem, after being in agony for some three months, I was lucky enough to study Dr. Sarno’s method. After lots and lots and lots of work implementing his method in my life, I was, baruch Hashem, able to rid myself of my back pain; my migraines, which kept on surfacing every now and then; and some other ailments (like chronic heartburn), which kept robbing the peace in my life. It is now 10 years later, and I thank Hashem every day for this! No more must I always carry Excedrin, Aleve and Tums on myself. I just wanted to share this with your readers to bring awareness. Instead of treating your body with different kinds of medications and then suffering through the side effects, it might just be worth one’s while to look into the work of Dr. Sarno. If there’s anyone I can help with the above, I can be contacted through The Monsey View. Thanks again, The Monsey View, for featuring such beautiful and interesting articles! Sincerely, C.N.

(RE: In Search of a Solution, Inbox, Issue 167) After struggling with pinworms for five years — and trying everything under the sun, all of which only brought a few short days of relief — I was finally helped by Mr. Schwartz, who runs his Roots office in Monroe. Mr. Schwartz has a method for testing individuals to find out which foods aren’t right for them, and with the help of a bicom machine that clears out parasites and toxins, he helps people with many sorts of problems related to digestion, one of which is pinworms. When I first spoke to Mr. Schwartz, he was very honest and explained to me that while he can help my daughter get rid of the pinworms, it will only bring short-term relief, just like medication and/or natural remedies, unless the root of the problem is dealt with. And the root, he said, comes from food — either protein, sugar or any other food or food group — not being digested properly. The solution was figuring out which food was the culprit, lowering the intake of that food, and taking probiotics, which is an absolute must since it aids digestion. When he told me that he thought my daughter was eating too much protein, I couldn’t believe my ears. This was my child who couldn’t get enough of protein! I’d always been pleased she had such healthy eating habits. I immediately put her on a good probiotic,

took her completely off protein, and within two days, my daughter was absolutely clean from pinworms! This was incredible. We’d been struggling for so many years, and now they were gone! We gradually upped her protein intake and made sure she’s not eating more protein than she should. Baruch Hashem, it’s already a year, and we haven’t had this problem since. What I learned then was that Hashem created pinworms for a reason: They appear when they need to help a person’s body get rid of undigested food. In people who
suffer endlessly, they don’t appear due to a lack of hygiene, which is why pinworms can affect one child and not the other in the same home, and why washing linen in hot water or eating garlic will not be a long-term solution. Yes, doing those things may remove the eggs or worms for a day or two, but since they’re always around (whether we’re aware of it or not), if there’s undigested food sitting in the intestines, they’ll be back to help clean it out. Parshas
Vayeira By: Malka Schneps
A WOMAN ONCE CAME to Rebbetzin Tzipporah Heller, distraught over a very serious aveirah she had committed. Rebbetzin Heller brought the distressed woman to Rebbetzin Batsheva Kanievsky, a”h. The woman poured her heart out to Rebbetzin Kanievsky, confessing exactly what she had done. As the woman spoke, Rebbetzin Kanievsky suddenly interrupted her with great force: “Close that book! The yetzer hara wants you to keep that book open. Close that book!” R’ Avigdor Miller, zt”l, points out that there is no aveirah so big that teshuvah cannot be done for it, and there is no aveirah so small that teshuvah is not necessary. We must have emunah that we can do teshuvah, and that Hashem accepts our teshuvah. In this week’s parsha, the malachim take Lot and his family away from S’dom and admonish them, “Flee for your life, do not look behind you, and do not stand in the entire plain…” (Bereishis 19:17). Regarding “big” aveiros, like the one committed by the woman in the above story, our inability to stop looking back at what we have done is not only destructive — since it is so paralyzing — it also reflects a lack of trust in Hashem to accept our teshuvah. Every one of us has regrets, but becoming paralyzed by regret is a very real impediment to teshuvah. There is another aspect of teshuvah, the flip side of the one just described, that involves not looking back with regret, but rather with yearning. Imagine Yisroel is a fresh baal teshuvah who recently began keeping kosher. Since he began keeping kosher, he no longer stops at a particular bakery on his way to work each morning. However, he just can’t let go of his love for his daily doughnut. Even though the bakery is a bit out of the way, Yisroel continues to drive passed the bakery on his way to work, just to see and smell the doughnut shop he used to enjoy.
54 / THE MONSEY VIEW
While Yisroel’s great sacrifice in committing himself to keeping kosher is truly admirable, and while it truly is teshuvah, can we really say that his teshuvah is complete while he still looks back at his former lifestyle with such yearning? R’ Avigdor Miller points out that just as we must not keep staring back in shame at our aveiros when we do teshuvah, as exemplified in the story of Rebbetzin Kanievsky above, so, too, must we not look back with yearning at the life we left behind, as in the case of Yisroel. The admonition in this week’s parsha — “flee for your life, do not look behind you, and do not stand in the entire plain…” — is a blueprint for doing teshuvah. When we do teshuvah, we must flee for our lives, realizing that our neshamos are indeed at stake; we must not look back on our mistakes in excessive paralyzing regret, we must not look back in yearning; and we must not stand in the plain – we must always keep moving forward. We can take this concept one step further. Often in life we choose to take our avodas Hashem to a higher level. Perhaps Yisroel the baal teshuvah has been keeping kosher for a while, and now decides to take kashrus to a higher level. Perhaps he decides to give up processed foods on Pesach, choosing to make everything himself at home from fresh ingredients. In this case, if Yisroel is in the store on Pesach and stares with longing at the products he used to enjoy, he is not regretting an aveirah because it was not an aveirah for him to have eaten those products, but he should still avoid looking back in regret. Growing in avodas Hashem often involves sacrifice; we should aim to never regret these sacrifices. Close the book on the past, and trust that He will be with us on our journey.

Hundreds Get MMR Shot in Free Vaccination Drive After DOH Temporarily Bans Unvaccinated Kids from Affected Schools A local measles outbreak has had Monsey residents turning out in droves to get vaccinated and has prompted the Rockland County Department of Health to instruct several local yeshivos to have unvaccinated children stay home until the danger of additional infection has passed. More than 300 people took advantage of two MMR clinics hosted by the DOH last Thursday and Friday in Monsey and Nanuet offering free vaccinations against the measles, some standing in line for over an hour to be immunized. The outbreak affects children and adults equally, with special concern for those born between 1957 and 1977 who may not be immune to measles, mumps and rubella despite having been vaccinated as children. Eleven cases of measles had been confirmed in the Monsey area as of last weekend, with six more confirmed in Williamsburg, all linked to a recent measles outbreak in Eretz Yisroel. Monsey health practitioners have been taking the outbreak seriously. A mobile command center was set up outside Refuah Health Center in New Square for infants ages zero to six months who are too young to be immunized, and at least one Monsey doctor who had a confirmed case of measles in his practice is seeing patients outside his office to prevent possible exposure. VIN News reported that Rockland County health commissioner Dr. Patricia Schnabel Ruppert sent a letter to an undisclosed number of yeshivos where students had been diagnosed with measles, telling them that no unvaccinated children were to be allowed back in school
until November 3, 21 days after the last known case of measles was confirmed in the area. That date will be pushed forward if further cases are confirmed. All schools are required to maintain a list of unvaccinated children by state law, and county officials have been working hand in hand with schools to make sure that they comply with Dr. Ruppert’s directive. Multiple local yeshivos sent letters or emails home to parents last week, informing them of the latest updates from the Department of Health, with many urging parents and students to get vaccinated, if they had not already done so.
Study Shows Wearing Tefillin Offers Health Benefits They are worn daily to fulfill a mitzvah, but a new study led by researchers at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine has shown that putting on tefillin may also have health benefits. The study showed that lightly restricting blood flow to the arm, something that takes place when wearing tefillin, can help precondition the heart to dealing with the loss of oxygen that occurs during heart attacks. Twenty men in good health ranging in age between 18 and 40 took part in the study, with nine wearing tefillin while the other eleven did not, reported Arutz Sheva. Blood levels and other vital signs were measured in participants,
58 / THE MONSEY VIEW / October 24, 2018 www.themonseyview.com / 845.600.8484
both before and after putting on tefillin for 30 minutes. According to Dr. Jack Rubinstein who led the study, all of the tefillin-wearers experienced positive effects on their blood flow, which is associated with better outcomes for those with heart disease. Rubinstein also cited Israeli studies showing that that Orthodox Jewish men have a lower risk of suffering fatal heart attacks than their non-Orthodox counterparts and even Orthodox Jewish women, a phenomenon that he feels may be attributable to their daily donning of tefillin.

Season’s Bounty
Cooking with Cranberries
BY: LEAH STERN Cranberries are a native to the United States and Canada, where they are available fresh from September until the beginning of November, and in the freezer section while supplies last. I usually stock up on some extra bags and freeze them to enjoy all year round. Cranberries are dubbed as a superfood. They are high in vitamins C, A and K, include manganese, and are high in antioxidants and antiviral properties. When in season, I try to include cranberries in my cooking and baking. They add tang and deep flavor to many dishes.
Note: Individuals on blood-thinning drugs or with a history of kidney stones should consult with their healthcare provider before consuming an excessive amount of cranberries.

2 tsp. salt
2 large slices challah
½ tsp. black pepper
2 eggs
1 medium onion, finely diced
¼ cup oil
1 garlic, crushed
SAUCE 2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries 4 cups water
6 oz. tomato paste 2 T. oil 2 T. salt
½ cup sugar

Place challah in mixing bowl with eggs, oil and spices. Blend with immersion blender. 3. Add chicken, onion and garlic. Mix well. 4. For sauce, place cranberries, water and sugar in a 6-quart pot. Bring to a boil and cook for 15 minutes. 5. Add the rest of the ingredients and bring to a boil. 6. Drop meatballs into boiling sauce. Cook for 1 hour and 20 minutes.

¾ cup brown sugar
2 cups flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 cup oil
FILLING 2 cups cranberry jelly (see recipe below)
½ cup sugar ½ tsp. cinnamon

Combine with the rest of the ingredients. 3. Pat half of the crumbs into a lined 9x13 pan. 4. Place fruit mixture over crust. Distribute leftover crumbs over fruit. 5. Bake at 375° for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Recently, I took both a kallah and a specialneeds young lady to shop at The Robe Gallery. Each young woman needed her own individual time and attention. No matter how busy the store was, both girls got the attention that they needed. I also watched a different kallah being helped and saw how calmly she was treated, with personal attention. I think that Chantzy should be nominated saleswoman of the year! Chantzy, as well as her mother, Mrs. Rabinowitz, her sisters and Bubby should all receive a standing ovation for their courtesy to their customers!
From the first time I entered Sareka, this wonderful woman named Sarah gave my mom and me the warmest hello and even a hug. She asked if we needed help, and when we told her our style, and she immediately found what we were looking for. From then on she became our personal shopper, who shows us exactly what we would want and look good in. We really enjoy going to Sareka because of Sarah’s warm personality. She makes each person feel like she is the best customer and does not pressure anyone to buy anything.

Most people shop at grocery stores for fresher produce, better prices and a wider selection. Some look for customer service, a smile and someone who cares. Mr. Weinberger, at All Fresh, is that salesperson. He goes the extra mile to make “his” customers happy. With a cheery greeting, a good word and careful attention to each customer’s needs, he makes everyone feel important. Mr. Weinberger, I shop at All Fresh just because you’re there! I shop at All Fresh because you care!
My daughter-in-law had a baby on Chol Hamoed, and I needed to get to Canada for the kiddush... under very short notice. Blubelle opened their doors for me during off hours, and Tami came in especially for me. I was treated royally. She gave me all the time I needed and great advice regarding what to buy for baby. I went out with bags of gorgeous stuff. Tami and Chavi of Blubelle have everything to be proud of. Exceptional service. Great advice. Excellent customer relations. Outstanding patience. It’s a pleasure to shop there. Thank you, The Monsey View, for giving us the opportunity to express the appreciation our Monsey stores so deserve.

Faigy’s is one store I can shop in without bringing along a “maven.” The salesladies are extremely helpful, but without being pushy. They also know their merchandise and tell me what is worth trying on. One thing that stands out, though, is the experience I had when paying. I timidly asked the saleslady if they perhaps give a discount to kollel families (I had heard that they do), and she said, “Of course!” And instead of making me feel like a beggar, or that they’re doing me a big favor, the saleslady went on to tell me that it’s their zechus to help people like us and that I shouldn’t feel embarrassed to ask for the discount; I should be proud! I walked out feeling so good — not only because of my purchases, but also because of the royal treatment I received.

I would like to nominate Yossi from Kidichic, who gave me exceptional service. The day before Erev Shavuos, I opened a bag that should have contained a pair of size 2T shorts, but I soon discovered that I’d been given an incorrect size. Since the local store was out of the correct size, I called another branch, but they were already closed for the day. That’s when the local store gave me Yossi’s phone number. An angel in disguise, at 6 p.m., he personally tracked down a size 2T from a store in Brooklyn, and then hand-delivered it to someone who knew someone who was driving to Monsey and got it to me in time for yom tov.

I bought adorable Shabbos outfits for all of my girls in Children’s Outlet. About three weeks later, we decided that my oldest daughter’s dress didn’t fit right. I went back during the busy yom tov season, and Mrs. Pfeiffer let me exchange it for anything in the store. Furthermore, when the store received a new shipment of these dresses, she took the time and effort to call me and ask if a bigger size would be good so that my daughter could match her sisters.
On Erev Rosh Hashanah, I sent my daughter to buy hosiery, which we desperately needed for yom tov, just as the store was closing.
Thank you, Mrs. Pfeiffer, for your super service!
When she realized that she didn’t have enough money, she started putting one of the items back on the shelf, but Mr. Schlesinger offered that she take it and pay after yom tov. She declined the offer, afraid that with all the hecticness, we may forget to pay. However, he then proceeded to give her the hosiery for free; he didn’t even put it into his computer! This is a man who cares more about people than about money. (We did go back to pay after yom tov, but we felt that Yidden are out to care for one another.)

After I received my bar mitzvah pictures, I was excited to place my order for photo blocks from Imagination Photo. Simy printed beautiful photo blocks in size 11x14, but a few came out bubbled. Simy assured me that she would redo them and that I would be completely satisfied. However, she attempted to print it a few times, but each time something went wrong, and she kept swallowing a loss. Finally, apologizing profusely, she reached out to the company who manufactured the photo blocks. After waiting to receive something from the company so she should be able to print properly, Simy offered to deliver the last one to my house. With her cheery voice and unusual positivity, Simy sent her husband to deliver my last gorgeous photo block. Thank you for quality work and royal treatment!

I purchased a beautiful sweater Oops! The size wasn’t right It needed to be returned But the timing was very tight. I made the long trip
I went shopping with my teenager, who is currently between sizes. I had a very hard time finding clothes for her, and after searching many local shops, I walked into Lily and Todd not feeling very hopeful or optimistic. However, Miriam went out of her way to help us out and found spectacular finds at great prices, all the while smiling and offering me water to drink. I came home with a full wardrobe and a happy teenager. This experience warmed my heart as I saw the difference a kind, caring and helpful saleswoman can make.
But arrived a few minutes too late Now I’ll need to come back On another date. The saleslady was compassionate She unlocked the door with a smile So I could make my return— That’s called going the extra mile! I understand it’s not simple

As customers, we’re inclined to hook our expectations onto our salespeople, while there’s so much that we, as customers, can do to make our shopping experience a positive one. We’ve had some candid conversations with our community members at the other side of the counters to get a sense of what it’s like to stand in their shoes — literally — so that we can do our part in creating positive customer relations.

CUSTOMER INTERACTION ASIDE, PLEASE SHARE WITH US WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A SALESPERSON. Being a salesperson means standing on our feet all day, usually without breaks or even a chair on which to rest. We’re waiters catering to our customers’ every need. As opposed to sitting behind a desk, we must always be cheerful and patient, irrespective of what may be going on in our lives. Whether we’re stressed or down, we must always be “on.” Being in this position means oftentimes not seeing the light of day or partaking in events due to our lengthy working hours. IN THE WORDS OF A LOC AL SALESPERSON:
“At a close family simcha recently, a friend remarked that it’s the first time she’s seen me at a kabbalas panim! She was surprised to see my face after being accustomed to not seeing me at events.”
WHAT POSITIVE THINGS CAN CUSTOMERS DO TO CREATE IMPROVED CUSTOMER/STORE RELATIONS? Positive feedback helps us know that our efforts are effective. Some write thank-you notes, some bring chocolate, but even a simple “thank you” fosters positive feelings. If you’d really like to make a difference, positive feedback to our bosses is the greatest form of appreciation! IN THE WORDS OF A LOC AL SALESPERSON:
“Customers who make an effort to foster a pleasant experience for everyone get better customer service upon a return shopping trip, even if the subsequent time turns out to be more difficult. We look forward to servicing these customers!”
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON “THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT”? What does “right” mean, anyway? Sometimes they’re right, sometimes they’re wrong — just like anyone else at one point or another. Interestingly, it is found that servicing in line with this idea actually leads to worse customer service and customer satisfaction. Customer relations are based on mutual trust and understanding, and when interaction is superficial and untrustworthy, both the customer and employee are left feeling less satisfied than an interaction based on truth. This motto breeds entitlement and puts a damper on the whole experience. In an ideal setting, the customer has a “right” to shop, and the salespeople have a “right” to stick to policy. The right to shop doesn’t mean the right to twist policy or demand discounts. IN THE WORDS OF A LOC AL SALESPERSON:
“Being right is dependent on action, not position.”
WHAT RESTORES YOUR FAITH IN CUSTOMER SERVICE? When people bring thoughtfulness, patience and overall mentchlichkeit to their shopping experiences. It’s a pleasure to service kind, thoughtful customers. IN THE WORDS OF LOC AL SALESPEOPLE:
“When a customer was $2 short on her sale, I told her to let it go. But two weeks later she returned with the $2 because she wouldn’t use the product until she had paid in full.” “We may have tight policies because of some negative experiences, but overall I’m amazed by the honesty and respect of our customers. It makes me proud to service such a wonderful community!”
88 / THE MONSEY VIEW / October 24, 2018 www.themonseyview.com / 845.600.8484
We all want to be courteous customers, but without some awareness, we may inadvertently make your job more difficult. What are some things that we, as customers, should keep in mind when going shopping?
WE’RE NOT ALL-POWERFUL. As your salespeople, we are here to help, and very much glad to do that. We chose these positions because this is what we love doing. But bear in mind, we’re just human, and therefore limited in our capabilities. We don’t have superpowers to create the exact product you need or service you’d wish for. We can guide you in your search for your dream product, but we cannot create that which we don’t have — although you’re always welcome to suggest your ideas to the manager or boss. Also, make it a priority to inquire about our policies before your purchase so you can make informed decisions.
“I wish customers would understand that as an employee, I don’t have the right or ability to bend policies. Whether it’s our boss’s prices or our government’s taxes — I cannot cut these. Accusing or complaining won’t stretch my limits or magically make me the boss. As an employee, I am bound by the rules and cannot make them or break them.”
October 24, 2018 / THE MONSEY VIEW / 89 www.themonseyview.com / 845.600.8484
A TIME’S A TIME. If we close at 7 p.m., aim to be done by then. Don’t walk in at 6:55 and then expect help for the next hour. You may have a bus to catch, a wedding to attend or a babysitter to relieve. And we understand that well — because we, too, have these obligations! We, too, have commitments to keep and families to rush home to. Please extend to us the same understanding we extend to you.
“Please value our time during store hours, too. We don’t get offended if we have different tastes or opinions. If you don’t like the products we show you, it’s okay to be honest and say so, so we don’t need to waste our time or yours while you attempt to soften your ‘no.’”
EMPLOYEE RESPONSIBILITY DOESN’T CANCEL CUSTOMER MENTCHLICHKEIT. You tried on some clothes or took a few items off the shelves for comparison? Be a mentch and put them back. True, part of our responsibilities includes picking up after our customers, but what tone does it set when a customer leaves a trail of merchandise behind for others to pick up? Oftentimes merchandise get ruined like this, and it also raises a question of stealing. Treating store employees as maids is also a chillul Hashem.
“When my family members or friends shop here, they always take care to return everything they tried to their original places. Not because I wasn’t hired to clean up after them, but because they see me as one of theirs; most of all, they see me as a human being.”

CONVENIENCE COMES AT A PRICE. Many a time, we have customers wanting the perks of a local store (trying on clothing, seeing before buying, personalized service), but expecting them at the benefits and prices of online or department stores. It’s not surprising that so many brick-and-mortar chain stores went out of business; it’s impossible even for them to give both an in-store experience as well as warehouse prices. Understand that local stores aren’t online department stores, since we offer what those stores don’t!
“It drains us when we’re used as samples for subsequent online purchases. If you’re not intending to purchase the products at our store, don’t use us just for convenience.”
OUR STORE IS OUR PARNASSAH.
POLICIES WERE BORN OF NECESSITY.
Please understand that most of us storeowners don’t do this for fame and fortune. We work hard to make a living and support our families. Sometimes we can give discounts and sometimes we can’t. Especially at sales or on already discounted merchandise, please don’t haggle over every dollar. Even more so regarding high-end products; if you choose the more expensive version, be prepared to pay the price.
As sisters and brothers, we strive for mutual trust. But many of our tight policies, like return/ exchange policies or payment options, reflect policy abuse and broken trust. We, as salespeople, can tell whether an item has been used, worn or washed, and when customers demand that we refund them based on deception, we are forced to tighten our rules to avert financial trouble.
“The only numbers the customers see are the numbers on the price tags. But most of the sale goes to expenses. The bit that’s left for us to take home to our families isn’t as much as it seems, so please fargin us that bit.”
“A customer attempted to coerce us into accepting his return of a highend, expensive product he had bought two months prior. But when we simply couldn’t refund him in the exact manner he demanded, he walked out with the product and proceeded to dispute the credit card charge. Baruch Hashem, most of our customers are honest and respectful, but we had to take stronger measures to avoid this in the future.”
A LOC AL SALESPERSON SHARES:
“As a storeowner and salesperson, shopping at our local stores amazes me each time anew. Knowing what it takes to be a salesperson, I cannot help but be awed by the lengths to which our fellow salespeople go to truly help their customers. Whether it’s advising, arranging or strategizing, they give their all to the customers they treasure. I feel blessed to be part of this community.”

THE
busy, dizzy shopping season is behind us. No more lines snaking until the streets — even before the shop’s opening bell chimes. No more number-calling in the shoe stores. No more squeezing through masses of humanity to reach the right shade of green. No more breathless saleswomen sorting through mountains of returned items at the end of the day. All is serene on Main Street. Where does this lull on the shopping scene find you? Are you back in the stores now, leisurely perusing the wares? Or do you never want to look at a store again and are determined not to walk into one if not absolutely necessary? (Or perhaps you’ve waited until now to shop, and made do with whatever you had until this point…) It all depends on what type of shopper you are. See if you find yourself in the profiles below.
96 / THE MONSEY VIEW / October 24, 2018 www.themonseyview.com / 845.600.8484
THE HAGGLER No matter how expensive or how cheap the item in question is, this negotiating shopper will get a discount. Paying the actual price marked on the tag hurts them in a very real way. Finally shaking hands on a deal (while the salesperson exasperatedly shakes her head), they will pay not with a larger domination (what a pity to break up a $100 bill!), but with exact change, counting out singles and small change as necessary. And once the product is home, you can be sure they will be back very shortly, with a sweater that pilled or a shoe that didn’t wear nicely, and request compensation.
THE DECISIVE SHOPPER Usually a shopping-lover with an astute sense of fashion, this type of shopper goes for valuable products, with price usually only taking secondary consideration. They will confidently walk into a store, sweep their eyes over the entire selection in minutes
and handpick the items they absolutely love. They will then take their purchases home confidently, admire them, remove the tags and store them away. (By the time the week is up, all their less decisive friends will be buying the same thing.)
THE INDECISIVE SHOPPER This type of shopper has no idea what they want, what they like, and they will solicit the opinion of the salespeople, fellow shoppers, and their personal “maven” shopping-bodyguard to help them make their decision. They will look at an item again and again and again, and then at all the other ones. Finally standing in line to pay, they will suddenly replace the item so they can go scout out every store within a 5-mile radius. After finally settling on a purchase, they’ll spend a sleepless night full of buyer’s remorse. Bright and early the next morning, you will meet them at the store once again, shopping bag in hand, returning the items. Will they enjoy their much-thought-out purchases? Oh no, they will be too busy discreetly checking out everyone else’s acquisitions.
THE RELUCTANT SHOPPER “What? The winter line is in? I just finished my summer shopping!” this type of shopper will whine. Partly indecisive and not tolerant of the ruckus of a busy shop, these type of shoppers chronically wish that we were back in the midbar with clothes that grow along with their kids. They pass down, make do with what they have, or just wait for their neighbor to show off their wares... and then order the same thing — by phone.
THE WOMAN ON A MISSION Usually short on time, or not into the frivolity of shopping, these practical individuals will enter the store intent on their list and what they need to purchase. These “target shoppers” don’t get sidetracked by sales, distractions or other items in the store, but head straight to the section they need. They seem to be trying to beat a record and get out of the store with their purchases in the shortest time possible. You may want to stay out of their way while they’re doing their thing. This type of shopper, while more rare at the very beginning of a shopping season, evolves at an astonishing rate as zero hour inches closer.

This type of shopper thrives on a good deal. So what if they technically have no use for three pairs of pj’s? At so cheap a price ($18.99 each!), they will buy as many as they will find on the shelf (despite having refused to pay $33.99 for the one pair they actually need). These shoppers will collect every voucher and coupon and will make a beeline straight to the sales section in a given store. Their judgment will often be clouded by the ridiculously low price tag, and their acquisitions are often items they’d do better without. Bargain hunters will often buy only necessities at the beginning of the season, generally at outlets, but once the sales season starts, they will hit the shops with a vengeance, cluttering their closets with stuff they will hopefully use — at one point or another in their lives.
THE RESEARCHER Researchers will best any salesperson when it comes to data on a specific product. They will know the quality and contents of the merchandise of each brand, as well as which brands and styles every store carries, and how much each store charges for it. By the time they come in to make their well-planned purchase, they can advise all customers on the product they purchase (if they didn’t miss the boat and see that the item is out of stock by then!).
THE IMPULSE BUYER This type of buyer may inherently be a scrooge or a spendthrift; no matter. When there’s an item that calls out to them, they intuitively reach out and call it their own. It may be an item they have little use for, or one whose price tag is way beyond what they feel is just. Impulse buyers easily get convinced by salespeople or other customers in the store, and they’ll be vacillating pendulumlike between buying or not, based on what those around them say. They are the people who can walk into a store with a list and walk out with a heavy bag and lighter wallet — but carrying nothing they’d actually come for.
THE LOYALIST Loyalist are shoppers who will return to the same shops again and again, and are predictable in the brands they prefer, often paying more for a specific brand or store. They’re not quick to try

who will want to check if every other item is in stock in their size in the back of the store, and then leave the sales help with a mountain of stuff to return — without having purchased a thing.
THE UNWILLING ACCOMPANIER
THE BROWSER These wandering customers don’t buy much, or often, but they do visit a lot! They need to feel every sleeve, touch every fabric, unfold every sweater and make sure every hanger in their path is crooked. Accounting for the least sales and most work for the staff on the floor, these window shoppers are most frustrating. Many of them don’t want to be seen or heard, and will reply with “just looking” when offered help, but worse are the ones
Usually assigned the job of holding the shopping bag, and very often male, this type is usually a reluctant husband or child who was convinced to join a shopping spree but has interest for neither the purchases nor the “outing.” They’ll be at the periphery of the shop — or in the car outside, insufferably waiting the return of their partner who loves to shop.

Every season means a total changeover in the closet. Clothing from last year is just so shabby. 2. I’m glad to reuse some stuff from the previous season, as well as to buy some things fresh. 3. I hand down stuff in good condition, buy what I must, and wait for the sales to stock up on more. 4. I shop at discount stores only, on sale, and I am so grateful to my neighbor who gives me clothes. What do you do with your old clothes? 1. What are you talking about? I don’t have old clothes. 2. I donate them once they go out of style. 3. I make good use of my clothing, and use them as long as they’re in good condition and not hopelessly outdated.
4. Whatever is still wearable gets worn here. What do you do with gifts that you receive? 1. I take them back to the store to exchange for something else I love. 2. I keep them to enjoy. 3. I keep some, return some for items that are more important, and re-gift some. 4. I resell my gifts for cash or return them for store credit. Which is the most true about your credit card spending? 1. Swiping my credit card makes shopping just so much simpler. It’s the way I shop, without much thought. 2. I use a debit card or credit card within a basic budget. I like the arrangement, as that way I have the spending means on hand when the need for money comes up. 3. I try to avoid credit card spending at all costs; I don’t want to hike up any bills. 4. I will make absolutely necessary large purchases on credit cards, and sometimes let others use it, so I can sell my miles for cash.
For each question, give yourself 1 point for any #1 answer, 2 points for #2, 3 points for #3, and 4 points for #4. Add up the points and rate yourself: • 35+ = The Thrifty Shopper: You’re a penny pincher who will not easily part from your money, and don’t believe in spending on anything that’s not a must. On the lookout for great deals, coupons or ways to save money, the wheels in your head are turning with numbers, percentages and where the best deal is. • 25-34 = The Frugal Shopper: You’re careful with your money. You shop within your budget, and cut corners wherever possible. However, you don’t hesitate to buy what’s necessary and decide your time and headspace sometimes need to take precedence over a dollar saved. • 16-24 = The Easy Spender. While you’re not frugal and indulge unnecessarily from time to time, you are reasonable with your spending habits. Convenience and time are usually higher than saving money on your list of priorities, and so you treat yourself, but all within limits. • 10-15 = The Generous Spender. You enjoy spending money, and you don’t hesitate to do so. You usually don’t want the hassle of looking for a better price or compromising on your convenience or what you want in getting your acquisitions.

“IT IS MORE EXPENSIVE TO TAKE KIDS shopping with you than to send them to a babysitter — even if the babysitter charges a whopping twenty bucks an hour.” This is my mantra. And experience has proven that I’m right on the money. Allow me to outline how shopping with kids ends up being costlier than paying an exorbitant babysitting fee. Storefronts in this day and age have been designed to attract and allure the most discerning of shoppers. Luckily, with Elul and Tishrei just behind us, we adults have had furious middos workouts and can look to the side, practice self-control, and relinquish our every desire to purchase what we absolutely do not need. Our innocent progeny, though, still have a way to go. Something about the toy displays placed in front of the store and the past season’s hairband racks inspire tantrums. The myriad tchotchke globes and coin-operated kiddie rides (aka lalas, which I used to think was a copyrighted term until my daughter once overstayed her welcome and was commanded by a sobbing boy-in-waiting, son of a very fed-up mother, to “get off the lala, now!”) emaciate the wallet further. Add up all the token purchases and what do we end up with? You tell me. Math was never my strong point. (Though mathematical skills aside, I

am sure that it is still more costly than the babysitter.) There’s nothing like a Sunday to accomplish what you can’t achieve while the kids are behind their school desks or kiddie tables. In this case, my preschooler needs shoes desperately. In an effort to abide by my economical calculations, I call the babysitter and request her services. “Oh,” the babysitter says. There’s a short pause, and I wait. And wait. “Duvid’l is so cute,” she says finally. “He really is adorable. But he bites kids... I’m afraid you’ll have to

I should’ve really given you more notice, I’m sorry.” “Oh. Thanks.” There goes my money-saving attempt. For lack of better options, with my toddler’s pink slip and my preschooler’s little feet that need to be fitted, my precious kinderlach join me on my outing. To prove the above-mentioned point, we patronize two kiddie rides (a green car and a Mickey Mouse) and a couple of gumball machines and the pizza store and the ice cream store and the school supplies store before we finally reach the shopping cart station in front of the supermarket. Because it’s foolish to ignore the grocery list if you’re already in the area — even if we came for shoes. Right? “Into the shopping wagon,” I say, mustering a cheerful tone. My two kids and my pocketbook clang against the still-empty cart as I separate the wagon from its counterparts. I stop at the apples. “Which yummy fruits are we getting for snack?” “Grape ices and banana candies and sour apple jellies and blueberry oodles and —!” It takes talent to rattle this off in one breath. Even the former first lady would surely be proud of the health education my children have mastered. “We love real fruits and vegetables. Don’t we?” I smile as I place a bag of potatoes between my toddler’s legs.

“Maaaa, it’s so uncomfortable. Put the potatoes back!” “Duvid wants to help Mommy make the potato kugel this week, right?” I position the bag closer to the wall of the cart, and he quiets down. Appeasement works. Here’s to a successful start. My twelfth-grade mach-

aneches, who is browsing the store specials, stares. She picks up eight bags of Domino sugar (eight for $10) and flashes me a plastic smile, definitely mesmerized by my coping skills. I bag the cucumbers I selected in the last crinkly bag on the roll. In search of another roll, one that still has plastic bags on its spine, I leave my shopping cart at an arm’s distance (for safety) from the produce stands. I return a moment later, triumphantly holding an endless stream of undivided bags like a trophy. My kids are holding a trophy-like something triumphantly, too, tomato seeds dribbling from their chins. An annoyed shopper must’ve steered the cart in an attempt to pass, and those few inches brought them closer to the overly inviting produce paradise, which they eagerly attacked. If only they would consume their morning veggies with such gusto!
I survey the damage. Mostly the grape tomatoes. Further inspection reveals that three mangos (three dollars each!) merited teeth imprints. And they aren’t even ripe! “They’re soooo cute!” a dapper prima donna comments as she looks from her starched prince to my disheveled two kids who are discovering the joy and delight of “Bamba rain” as they empty the contents of snack bags and warn all shoppers of an impending mabul. (At the rate they’re going, they may be onto something.) I want to tell her that the tomato-stained,
peanut butter–smeared white (?) shirts my kids are wearing were also sparkling clean a few minutes ago. I also want to tell her that her definition of cute is rather distorted. Additional snack bags and packages are opened, reinforcing the truth of my mantra, and I exercise restraint. I must look like a madwoman, furiously pocketing all the empty wrappers that I’ll need to pay for, ensuring that I do not overlook a single one. Miraculously, I am soon ready to ring up my purchases. The lines are reminiscent of the
pictures in the children’s coloring books of the Yidden leaving Mitzrayim. Four open checkout aisles (and eleven closed ones) explain the scene. There is no way I can stand in line this long with my kids! The sweets display near the register is a true danger zone, and I avoid that area like the plague. (Plus, the two-in-one toy and nosh thingies are really pricey.) To my good fortune, another kidfilled wagon is stationed near ours. Apparently, I have company in my nosh-near-the register phobia, and there is a playdate in the making. I

breathe a sigh of relief as I pile all the payable items into one wagon and head to the register. All is calm, my kids are caged-in and playing nicely with their caged-in neighbors a safe distance from the danger zone. While the line thins, I send occasional glances in their direction to ensure that all is safe and sound. It is finally my turn. The cashier takes a sip of his Snapple bottle. “Delivery?” I nod. Except for the eggs, everything will be delivered to my door. Under my breath, I bless

the inventor of the wheel. Soon I rush out of the supermarket with a sense of fulfillment. The dry cleaners is a mere two-minute walk from the supermarket. I fumble in my pocketbook for the pink ticket, but a couple of receipts and numerous notes and shopping lists show their faces instead. Then the elusive ticket turns up and I retrieve the shirts. I’m so glad I got this off my list too, when I realize with a jolt that it is uncharacteristically calm. Eerily calm. And that it is not the relatively empty cleaners that is the
reason for the sudden serenity. I look left. I look right. I look behind me. I look in front of me. And it’s not the plastic draped over the pressed shirts that suddenly causes my palms to sweat profusely. The shirts take on the weight of my entire supermarket order. My kids! I left them in the supermarket. As blessed as the calm is, I dash in the direction of the supermarket, heart pounding, to claim them. After all, from all my purchases, they are still my most valuable possession.

TYING AND UNTYING | PART 3 TICHELS
May one tie a tichel with a double knot on Shabbos? We mentioned in the previous articles that one is not allowed to make a professional knot on Shabbos. We also mentioned that since today we are not experts in what is considered a professional knot, any knot that is strong enough not to get undone by itself with time is assur to make on Shabbos. An example of this type of forbidden knot is a double knot. However, does this create a problem when it comes to tichels that simply won’t hold if they are not tied with a double knot? The poskim say that women are allowed to tie a double knot on their tichels, with the intention to untie it within a day (or, in time of need, within a week) if the tichel generally undoes itself with time and has to be tightened.1 This is the case with many tichels. The reason for this is that according to the Mishnah Berurah, any knot that undoes itself with time is not considered a professional knot, even if it is a strong knot at the time of tying. Women who make a double knot on a tichel made of material that does not undo itself, and do so with the intention to undo it within the day (or, in time of need, within the week), have whom to rely on, especially if this is the only way the tichel will stay on.2 For someone who never undoes the knot of her tichel and just slips the tichel on and off, it would be assur to tie it or untie it, even with the intention to undo it within a day.

WINDING AND UNWINDING
According to the Biur Halachah this is not considered a kesher uman, and since she had in mind to undo it within a day, it is muttar l’chatchilah.
1
The Kitzur Shulchan Aruch 80:45; Kaf Hachaim 317:24; and Rav Pealim II, siman 44, assur it. But Rav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach, zt”l, matirs it because it is not considered a tight knot. See Shevet Halevi, vol. 8, siman 60, who brings the Birkei Yosef who brings the minhag to be meikel when it comes to kesher al gabei kesher. See Ohr Letzion who says there are two sefeikos here: 1) Maybe halacha is like Rashi, and kesher uman is muttar, and 2) even if the halacha is like the Rambam, maybe this is not a kesher uman, and therefore concludes to be meikel. See also Chazon Ish (Orach Chaim 52:17) who says m’ikar hadin kesher al gabei kesher is muttar, and it was only taken on as a chumrah. See also Eliyah Rabbah (317:5) who is matir b’makom tzorech if one has in mind to undo it within a day. Combining these factors, one who is meikel has whom to rely on.
2
May one untangle tzitzis strings on Shabbos? So everyone went home from the sheva brachos, Chaim and Eli went to take out the garbage, and it’s time for little Shmuel’s overdue nap. He was probably the busiest one there, what with all of his jumping and running! Now, as you start unbuttoning his shirt, you notice — his tzitzis! Oh, what a rascal; they’re all tangled up! Twisting ropes together to form a thicker rope is also included in the issur of making knots on Shabbos.3 Accordingly, it is assur to unwind the strings of tzitzis that became very tangled together, but if they are only slightly tangled there are some poskim who permit to unwind them.4 The poskim point out that since according to some opinions one can not make a bracha on tzitzis that are tangled, untangling them can also be a problem of mesaken maneh (fixing), which is an issur d’Oraisa.5 May one use twist ties on Shabbos? There is a machlokes haposkim whether opening and closing bags that close with a metal twist string (twist ties) are assur for the same reason, or muttar because they are different altogether.6 However, even according to the osrim, one can wind them with the intention to undo them within a day (or, in time of need, within a week) and similarly unwind them if they were made for less than a day (or, in time of need, a week).
3 Mishna Berurah 317:34 in the name of the Rambam; See Eishel Avraham 317:20 who says that if it is done with very thin strings, it is a problem of oreg. See Mishnah Berurah 344:2 that to make a string by twining thin strings is a problem of toveh.
See Chut Shani, Shabbos, vol. 2, p. 229, and Ohr Letzion, vol. 2, 29:7. The poskim say that this can also be a problem of mesaken maneh. The Ginas Veradim also assurs this even when it is slightly tangled.
4
5 See Biur Halachah 8:7, “tzarich,” who brings the Gra who says not to make a bracha on such tzitzis. See also Chut Shani, Shabbos II, 34:11. 6 See Shemiras Shabbos K’hilchasah, perek 15, footnote 174, who is machmir. See Ohr Leztion, vol. 2, 29:2; Shevet Halevi, vol.8, siman 55, and vol. 10, siman 61; Chut Shani, Shabbos, vol. 2, 34:9, for reasons to be meikel.

THE PLASTIC PLAGUE THE PLASTIC BAG PROPOSAL In introducing a bill to ban single-use plastic bags across the state by 2019, Governor Cuomo is hoping to address “the blight of plastic bags” that is taking “a devastating toll on our streets, our water and our natural resources.”
If this proposal is to pass, New York will join ranks with California, which approved a statewide ban of plastic bags in 2016, and Hawaii, which has instituted similar bans in all of its counties.
Single-use bags for raw meat, fish or poultry; those sold in bulk and used in bulk packaging; those used for deli products and takeout food; bags for newspapers, trash, food storage and garments; are exempt under Mr. Cuomo’s proposal.
112 / THE MONSEY VIEW
So what’s so terrible about plastic bags? A lot, environmentalists say. Referred to as “urban tumbleweeds” for their light weight and aerodynamics, they get picked up by the wind from the trash, trucks and landfills, and get blown down streets, finding permanent residence entangled in tree branches, clogging drains and polluting the ocean. All across the world, cows, endangered desert animals, turtles, whales… all kinds of animals from sea, land and air ingest these bags, which severely damage their digestive tracts, many of them dying from illness or strangulation. Recycling of the bags is complicated too, since they are so thin that they clog up sorting machines. Are paper bags better for the environment? Not really. They have their own problems, among them low reusage rate, nondurability and high solid waste volume, so that doesn’t necessarily pose the solution.
DOING THEIR PART Many companies have banned single-use bags from their establishments, not wanting to contribute to the rising plastic bag pollution problem. One of the innovators of the anti-plastic bag movement, IKEA, enacted green policies still back in 2008. The options for carrying home acquisitions were to either purchasing a reusable IKEA blue bag for 59 cents, using one’s own reusable bag, or purchasing singleuse bags for five cents apiece, with the proceeds going to restoring forests and helping reduce carbon dioxide emissions. This year, IKEA took environmental concerns a step further, announcing that they will phase out all single-use plastic products from their stores and restaurants. Included in that are plastic straws, plates, cups, and freezer and bin bags. (Plastic-coated paper cups and plates will be phased out when a feasible alternative will be found.)
Adidas removed all plastic shopping bags in 2016 in its 14,000 branded stores across the world, a move that was estimated to eliminate the usage of about 70 million bags per year.
To Costco shoppers, bagless shopping is nothing new. Like other wholesale companies like Sam’s Club and BJ’s, they sell their goods directly out of the manufacturer boxes and then reuse those same recyclable boxes at the register by offering them to members in lieu of shopping bags.
And the movement is far from stagnant. Whole Foods jumped on the bandwagon, as did the largest U.S. grocery chain, Krogers, who announced that they will phase out shopping bag usage by 2025.
BREAKING THE BAG RECORD The world record for the largest paper shopping bag is held by Jon Marling and the Paper Bag Co. in the U.K. At 73 feet long, 50 feet wide and tall enough for the kids to stand in, the bag was an accurate scale replica of a normal-sized paper bag, complete with twine handles.
An attempt at snagging a place in the world records took place in Wilmington, Delaware, where concerned students and environmentalists rolled the world’s largest plastic bag ball, incorporating more than 50,000 bags in it to bring awareness to plastic pollution.
The world record for the longest chain of plastic bags, consisting of 40,174 plastic bags and 9.56 miles long, was created by pupils in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
COLLECTIBLE BAGS One of Cooper-Hewitt Museum’s 11 bag categories is devoted exclusively to Bloomingdale’s, which created shopping bags for 27 country promotions between 1961 and 1991. (Their iconic The Big, Medium and Little Brown Bags are a different story of genius marketing.) Acquiring the entire Bloomie series is a popular goal among bag collectors.
The most collectible of the Bloomingdale bags is the last promotion in the abovementioned series, featuring the colors of the Italian flag and the words “In Pizza We Trust,” which is said to have been pulled at the request of the Italian government.
The most expensive collectible bag to date is a soup can bag Andy Warhol designed for the American Supermarket. At Sotheby’s Contemporary Prints auction, a 1966 bag (with marks from magic marker!) was sold for $3,737, while a slightly soiled 1964 bag was hammered down at a whopping $4,312.
This unique triangular bag is also highly collectible. THE MONSEY VIEW / 113

I’ll go to the factory tonight and release the remaining funds that came yesterday from a foreign investor.
At the home of Shimi, Avraham and Mutty’s friend
What’s that shadow behind the factory?
I can’t fall asleep. I left a recorder behind our clubhouse. I guess I’ll get it tomorrow. I’m so curious to find out if Gavriel is really guilty.
Am I imagining things?
Someone is lurking there with a flashlight.
Yes!
Ima! Ima!
I’m going to tell Abba and Ima!
What happened? I found someone suspicious at the factory!
We’ll take a photo, and tomorrow we’ll show it to Mutty’s father.
At the factory
Calm down, Shimi.
I’m done. I have the money.
Boom! Someone’s photographing me???
Here’s the fax that authorizes the mission.
The withdrawal of money for the missionaries.
Recap: The boys at the cult get impatient. The staff, in turn, pressures Gavriel to wire the money needed for the airfare. Avraham’s friends place a recorder behind the clubhouse so they can listen in on Gavriel’s conversations.
