5 Ways To Cope With Pandemic Fatigue Take advantage of the free time you have at this time, perhaps resurrect an old hobby or try something new. When you complete your tasks, you have set out for yourself at the beginning of the day, and you complete those tasks, you feel gratification and a sense of accomplishment. Go to your medium, either writing, music, or art, and make your self-validation a reality. If you write, write out, “you completed all the tasks at hand, and for that, I am proud of myself.” Maybe you’re an artist who creates something for yourself to represent your accomplishments if you are musically-inclined to sing or compose a piece that describes how proud you are of yourself. We all know the impact the state of the world is taking on us emotionally, mentally, and physically. In some cases, we need to stay on the path of personal growth as much as possible. Keeping personal development is the only thing that will help each of us cope with these medium-term changes to our very culture. Candian’s are known for being fun-loving, charismatic, friendly, social, and open people. When the world situation seems hard to manage, people get tired, depressed, anxious, and down act as they usually are. “I have experienced this first hand.” And one of the things that are getting me through this time is resurrecting my creative side. Before my Massage Therapy Training, I use to be an avid artist. My first dream job was to be an art teacher. After high school, I had a portfolio, ready to go for the fine arts school at the University of Manitoba, but it was a saturated industry. I was a young adult and was more interested in starting my life as soon as possible. I gave up my art until March 2020, when I had lost my sense of calm. I needed to do something to help me through this stressful time. And I fell back on my art to keep me occupied. I want to talk about this exact thing called Pandemic Fatigue. Im sure many have heard of this phenomenon, but im here to share an actual condition that many people are dealing with; presently. As a Registered Massage Therapist, Im in a unique position to genuinely witness this condition; as an RMT, I provide calm and relaxation for everyone to unwind from the stressors and feelings in daily life. Trust me; Everyone needs it right
now. Many of my clients are having a difficult time coping with this-worldly challenge. So I feel it’s my purpose to create non-judgmental, safe, and peaceful spaces that clients can come to and experience a little escape from reality. “We are in a strange place, and pandemic fatigue is real,” says Steve Joordens, a psychology professor at the University of Toronto Scarborough. According to thestar.com As an individual, I have found some things that have helped me and, to my surprise, are scientifically proven to help you manage this new phenomenon.
Here are five ways to help you cope with pandemic fatigue. Let us get started with What the heck is Pandemic Fatigue? According to www.wdgpublichealth.ca, July 2020. “ pandemic fatigue can occur when people get tired of pandemic measures and are less likely to follow public health measures or simply begin to drown out the messages.” A sense of burnout occurs due to us having to follow these measures for a prolonged period. Pandemic fatigue can be experienced differently by everyone but often presents feelings of restlessness, irritability, lack of motivation, and difficulty focussing on tasks. It can also show up as becoming withdrawn from socializing and changes in sleeping and eating habits. Young people may show this differently. Understand Your Reality Understand that forming new habits takes time and commitment. Now your reality is going to determine a lot of this, and everyone’s reality is different. But for yourself, you get to choose how you can manage your existence. Engage With a Safe Person Now all of us are having challenges reaching out to other people, but all relationships are two-way streets. Don’t always wait for that call to come or facetime or message; everyone feels a little lonely, and you reaching out to say a simple hello can put a smile on both faces. Keep Your Mind Distracted Productively I mean, pick up an old hobby that you haven’t had time to do in a while, perhaps you like to draw, paint, read, write when you provide you’re being with a task and completing the job you get a sense of gratification for doing that.
Set Daily Goals Get up early and write down the tasks you wish to accomplish for that day, and hold yourself to finishing them. These goals will give you something to distract your mind from overthinking. Validate Yourself Canada is a culture of people who are given a task; we are expected to accomplish said jobs; thus, we get validated by being paid or a pat on the back from our superiors. Ask yourself, at this time, as many people are working from home, away from what they use to know as “the norm”, you don’t get the same interactions as you once did with your superiors, so to help get through this scary time, “ why don’t you be your superior.” You can do this by accepting the fact you don’t need validation from anyone but yourself at this time. Live one Life Coaching (Erin Derose)
We reached out to Erin Derose (Life Style Coach) to learn more about her local business so we could share this with the Lorette community We Asked Erin Derose. What brought you to Lorette? I have always been a small-town girl and had every hoped to move out of the city to return to a lifestyle that I was more comfortable in. My husband surprised our daughter (then three years old) and me with our new home in Lorette. He just knew it was the perfect combination of a rising community of opportunity with the old enjoyable community connection. We asked Erin How Long she has been conducting business here? After 13 enjoyable years in the Health, Wellness, Weight Loss, and Fitness industry, the clinic I was managing closed its doors, and it was time for me to go out on my own. It will be five years in March that I humbly and happily opened my private practice in Lorette. Five local people nominated Erin; all said, “She was one of a kind and provided great women ran business.” What is the key to your success? Hearing that women have shared their love of what I’m blessed to do is such a gift; it makes me happy to hear that people feel rewarded for the work that I passionately do. One of the most significant contributors to Live One Life Coaching’s success is understanding the deep connection between the services that I offer and the impact of practicing those services on one’s entire life. “I owe my success to my connection of practicing Wellness in my own life.” If I didn’t have the passion and amount of joy from doing what I believe, this is my Dharma (purpose in Life). But I have to attribute a lot of my success to the industry’s incredible experience, with so many professionals, learning so much about making each woman’s Wellness experience safe and unique to their own needs.
We asked Erin What services she offers I get asked this question so often, and the answer has grown longer each year. I offer a private Personalized Total Lifestyle Program designed for a unique program attached to a client’s Health & Wellness. It can include anything from nutritional meal plans, Fitness Training Programs, Holistic Support Strategies, blueprint Tendencies, and Self Discipline exercise Programming. For those requiring a more intimate and supportive experience, I can offer personalized one-on-one coaching programs. Private Coaching allows clients to have additional support and accountability and executing their customized Total Lifestyle Program. Because my practice was more often than not full, I then extended my education and services to host Group Body•Mind•Soul Training Programs for Women in Lorette. These programs include a variety of Fitness and or Yoga sessions accompanied by an additional focus on total elevation and empowerment. We soon grew into Mixed CoEd, and All ages Pop Up classes as well. And finally, motivated by COVID-19 and social distancing requirements, we then took our Body•Mind•Soul Training Program Online, hosting Zoom Fitness and Yoga sessions digitally from the comfort of each Women’s home. I had also started to facilitate Female Empowerment & Body Positivity Workshops before Covid created some obstacles for intimate Workshops. We asked Erin, How do clients/customers purchase your services? Everything that I do is very customized to each woman. Each purchase starts with a potential client viewing the Live One Life Coaching website and social media pages. Once considering their options, they reach out through email, messenger, or phone to arrange to have a more personal conversation. That ensures that we find a solution that tailors the service that I offer to best suit their needs. Once a client has decided the best approach for them, we enroll them into the program and payment option of their choice. We asked Erin, What inspired you to start your business in life coaching? I wouldn’t call my services live Coaching but more LIFESTYLE Coaching. I very much believe that thoughts become things, and what we choose to invest energy into in our day today and our thoughts significantly become our habits and in turn impact who we are and how we feel. What inspires me to dedicate my energy to offering guidance and support in how one can LIVE a healthier and happier life. We asked Erin, What kinds of services do you focus on in your practice?
Wellness Coaching, Lifestyle Habit Coaching, Holistic Strategy Coaching, Mindset and Motivation, Self Love and Self Discipline, Nutrition and Fitness Program design, Yoga Teaching, 1on1 Personal Training, Women’s Group Fitness Instructor, Mom & Mini Fitness, CoEd Steel Mace Training, Female Empowerment & Body Positivity Workshops We asked Erin, Who is your ideal customer/client? I have a particular passion for empowering women and appreciate the opportunity to offer guidance and support to women ages 9 to no limit. Many of the Women that I’m blessed to work with are more often 30-65years old. We asked Erin, What was your moment of enlightenment when you created your business? Great question! I would say that I‘d dreamt of doing what I do since I was just 12 years old! I realize that sounds crazy, but I knew early on in life that I’m here to support others on their wellness journey and that my own business was the best way for me to do what I feel im meant to do. We asked Erin, What is your favorite thing about Lorette? I adore the community calibration and care. The events that Lorette Family Fun Group host mainly shows the love that this communication has to support each other’s growth, enjoyment, and needs. We asked Erin, Where did you initially reside? I’m an Ontario girl from the hub of the North, Sioux Lookout. It’s a small northern community 1 hour north of Dryden Ont, with a small population of 3500 people. We asked Erin what her mission and vision of your business is? My mission is to provide wellness support for those who desire it, to provide a safe space for others to receive encouragement, guidance, and support for their elevation positively and healthily. We asked Erin, Do you have any events happening during this uncertain time; that keep your clients and customers engaged? Yes! Since we have entered the very unpredictable time of COVID-19, I have moved all of my services online. It’s been vital for me to know that people are continuing to focus on their wellness, especially during a time of stress and isolation. It’s been gratifying to see our Online Group Training & Yoga program grow and allow women to stay dedicated to their wellness as a whole. We asked Erin, Why should people use your services? I’m biased but believe that any woman seeking personal growth and elevation should seek a personal coach. It’s a diverse and sometimes daunting journey to unravel all the chaos
inside one’s body and mind, to have genuine care and expertise during that process can make all the difference when it comes to breakdown or breaking through. I’m just honored to be a part of that process for those that allow me to. We Asked Erin what makes you different compared to other businesses that offer your style of service? That’s a hard question to answer as I don’t know entirely what others would offer. I am blessed with 16+ years of direct experience in the wellness industry, that I genuinely believe aiding others on this journey is my purpose in life and that if you are willing to open up to the journey that I am eager to do everything within my being to see you active your goals. Erin’s Final input in our Digital interview was “I am just appreciative to be recognized in our community and continue to strive to fulfill my promise as a support for those that desire it as we all aspire for growth and elevation in one way, shape or form.” (Questions Provided By The Motio Note and Were answered Via Email By Erin Derose in her own words.)
