OR the umpteenth time, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday got the red card from the opposition camp. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) National Leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu told the PDP to be ready to quit in 2015. The duo spoke in Lagos at the public presentation of a book “Witness to history: Action Congress of Nigeria and its struggle for democracy, liberty and justice”. The 642-page book, written by ACN National Publicity Secretary Alhaji Lai Mohammed, was unveiled at the Civic Centre, Ozumba Mbadiwe, Victoria Island, Lagos. The event was chaired by Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu. The opposition leaders reiterated their determination for change in 2015. They urged Nigerians to support the push for power shift to the progressives by the All Progressives Congress (APC). Continued on page 6

MTN to sign $3b deal with banks

OBILE giant MTN is set to sign a $3 billion (N470b) loan with a consortium of banks. The telecom operator said in an invitation to the ceremony that the mediumterm facility will be signed today. MTN officials declined to give details of which banks are involved or what the money is to be used for. MTN has been borrowing to upgrade its network in Nigeria, as competition hots up in its most lucrative African market.

ITH 185 dead in fighting between the Joint Task Force (JTF) and Boko Haram insurgents at the weekend, the crisis may have recorded its biggest casualty this year.
