NY bank found wanting in the ongoing pension probe by the National Assembly will be sanctioned, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) warned yesterday. It plans to send examiners to the affected banks to determine their level of involvement in the alleged fraud.

ORE missiles were fired yesterday in the battle of integrity between Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) boss Ms. Arunma Oteh and lawmaker Herman Hembe. A secret memo showing that SEC initiated the move to sponsor the controversial public hearing with a N30.4m budget surfaced in Abuja. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) may quiz three SEC commissioners and members of the House Committee on Capital Market, who are probing the collapse of the once lucrative capital market. Some letters and memos by SEC and the House Committee provided an insight into how the deal was struck.
