Ryley Summer Fest was full of fun-filled activities for people of all ages to enjoy. Even though there was rain, there was also some sunshine during the twoday event held on June 17 and 18, which was hosted by the Village of Ryley.
Friday evening featured a variety of local entertainers, cribbage tournament, wagon rides, kids’ games, street dance as well as tasty food from several different organizations and businesses in the community.
Even though it was raining during the parade on Saturday, people turned out to watch more than 25 entries make their way down Main Street. Over at the community hall was a market featuring a variety of homemade and homegrown items from 18 vendors.
The Ryley Museum was open for tours, the Ryley Redliners hosting a show ‘n shine, miniature drone derby, a demonstration featuring hawks and falcons from Predator Company. The Ryley Ag. Society served up beef on a bun and supplied local entertainment from Niko’s Dance Academy.
Village of Ryley Chief Administrative Officer Ron Cust said more than 150 people rode the miniature train, many enjoyed taking a ride on Kumson’s electric ATVs, and well over 100 people attended the family dance and movie Ecanto.
Saturday evening capped off with spectacular fireworks show. Mayor Nik Lee said, “In my view, an absolute success. The comments I received was that this was the best Sports Days/Summer Fest the Village has had in over 20 years.”
Even though there were a few glitches, Lee said they will be better next time. Overall, he felt the event was a success and a job well done.
