Action Points and Matters Arising •
The wall at Bowden doors is completely repaired ◦

There is minor damage to the flutes at the top of Castle Wall
The wording for the signs to be displayed at major Northumberland crags is still to be sent to the BMC
Membership •
The web membership form is proving a success
•
AW is to confirm rates and route-setting arrangements with Hadrian Leisure
•
AW proposed investigating allowing electronic payments for new members who join at Hadrian Leisure.
•
AW has paid the BMC fees
•
The net cost to the club of the learn to lead course was £145
Meets •
The overall dinner meet was successful. However, it was decided to seek a new dining venue for next year
•
There is a Pembroke camping meet scheduled for the late August bank holiday
•
AB is arranging the Peak meet at Stoney Middleton for the 8th of August
•
JS raised the issue of having a celebration for the 70 th anniversary of the club in about 3 months time
•
Tim Blakemore, Mark Savage, Nick Bullock, Andy Kirkpatrick and Gary Gibson were proposed as potential speakers – JS and IB to put out feelers for the winter season

Correspondence •

An email has been received from the Guidebook Cooperative, IB has forwarded this to StB ◦
StB believes that joining would be a good opportunity for the club, but is reluctant to commit to developing a full guidebook
◦
The general consensus of the committee is that it would benefit the club to have more communication with the guidebook Cooperative. IB will attend the next guidebook cooperative meeting if possible.
Bob Bell has offered to donate his collection of gear to benefit new climbers in the club ◦

Climb Newcastle contacted IB to give positive feedback for the digital County Climber
•
AW has been contacted by a TV production company looking for volunteers for a survival programme ◦

AW has provided JS with the list of people who are to continue to receive printed copies of County Climber

JS has spoken to Mark Savage about interviews with founding members ◦
Mark is planning to produce a showcase book on climbing in Northumberland, and would like to produce a digital version with clips, interviews etc.

Mark has asked if the club would be interested in sponsoring the production of his book ▪
The committee is generally interested and JS will go back to Mark to indicate interest and open discussion about how much sponsorship Mark had in mind

AW proposes having the club provide a foreword for the book

AW proposes the club reach out in a low key way to offer the gear to new climbers who would use the gear and appreciate the responsibility needed to use second-hand gear.
SnB notified the committee that Sunderland Climbing Centre has closed

To be held in the Cumberland Arms in August or September, exact date TBC
