Approval of Minutes of last meeting Minutes approved by StB and JS

Action Points and Matters Arising •
All yellow T-shirts have been sold, as well as all but one hoodie
•
AW has booked a venue for the President's dinner and is advertising the event ◦

StB will contact the hotel to arrange the meal
New Honourary Members •
StB proposes John Earl, Peter Bennett, Nev Hannaby and Bob and Tommy Smith for honourary membership
•
It was proposed that an event be held in Newcastle at the end of the year to induct the new honourary members
•
AW reports that the BMC is no longer charging the club for honourary members ◦
•

As the proposed honourary members are still active, it was proposed to allow the honourary members to decide whether or not they wanted BMC cover
It was proposed to review honourary membership regularly and induct new honourary members when the number falls below 5% of the club's membership Correspondence

None County Climber

JS aims to produce a Summer edition of the County Climber by the end of June and is looking for contributions
•
Upcoming events such as the Peak meet are to be publicised in the email newsletter
Anniversary Book

StB reports an encouraging meeting with the Scarpa representative about their support for the book
•
Scarpa's mark on the book will be discreet, and Scarpa hopes to be able to distribute the book as a high-end marketing tool
•
JS has consulted with Phil Kelly, one of the co-authors of Peak Rock to learn from his experience
•
StB intends to present Scarpa with the proposed size of the print run to determine the level of support they are prepared to provide and approach the BMC for underwriting if necessary
•
From the initial work, StB expects the page count could be around 300 pages
•
StB reported on some of his research into the early climbing history of Northumberland
•
The club will have intellectual property rights to the historical research for use in future guidebooks
•
StB reported the Mark planned an online companion to the book that could be linked to the club's website
•
StB outlined the process of producing the book
•
JS volunteered to take editorial responsibility
•
JS proposes interviewing climbing luminaries with Northumberland experience AOB

JMcC reports that he will be unavailable to lead the North Wales meet, CM will take over
•
JR reports having 4 names for the learn to lead course
