NORSU HAS USED a new Scantron’s Versatile ES2800 Optical Mark Reader (OMR) in checking the answer sheets for NORSU Admission Test (NAT). According to Dr. Noel Yasi, director, Counselling, Assessment, Resources, Enhancement (CARE) Center, the machine can check several examination sheets in just a minute. “ The OMR machine is estimated to scan and check examinees’ booklets up to 1,000 copies per minute,”he said. The director believes the machine is more convenient because “it can accommodate a large number of examinees without any limitations compared to the previous years of only using the computer laboratories in the Sky Library of College of Arts and Sciences building.” He added students could right away get the results of their examinations. Meanwhile, Yasi said whenever the machine works properly in checking the answer sheets, the university could perhaps utilize it in checking the college and department exam
