Winter survival kits assembled for homeless Thousands of kits to help the homeless make it through winter will be assembled tomorrow. The packing event for Project Winter Survival will take place at The Bargains Group Ltd., 890 Caledonia Rd., with Police Chief Bill Blair and Project Winter Survival founder Jody Steinhauer joining the assembly. The kits, which include warm clothing, sleeping bags and personal care products, will be distributed to the homeless throughout the Greater Toronto Area through frontline agencies beginning Saturday, Jan. 19. For the past 14 years, Project Winter Survival has assembled and distributed more than 15,000 kits. Winter survival kits are allocated to more than 175 frontline agencies such as The Salvation Army, Red Cross, Scott Mission, Eva’s Place and Covenant House.
