the first time a city rink has ever made it this far in the competition’s decade long history. Angela James Arena, located on Grenoble Drive, beat out a record-breaking 3,192 submissions this year to make it to the Top 10.

“It’s really great,” said Muhammad Yunus, a coach with ProAction Hockey League, which operates out of the Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue area arena. “I freaked out when I found out (the arena made the Top 10).”
Yunus, who nominated the arena, noted the building has heating issues, the roof is leaking, bleachers are lacking, and the women’s change room has outgrown its current size. “It’s not in the greatest condition right now,” he said. “One hundred thousand dollars would go a long way.” >>>voting, page 14
