following several incidents in which speeding vehicles have hit and, in some cases, seriously injured pedestrians. The area between Eglinton and Lawrence avenues is home to
schools, daycares and a nursing home, and also serves as a northsouth route connecting to downtown. This stretch of Avenue has a posted speed limit of 50 kilometres per hour. There are posted warn-
