Moveathon at Downsview Park helps kids with special needs Thousands of people are heading to Downsview Park Sunday, June 8, to help youngsters with physical and developmental disabilities. And they’ll have a great time in the process. The 17th annual Zareinu Moveathon Festival, a day filled with food, rides, entertainment and sports events, will raise money for the Zareinu Educational Centre. With an administrative office in North York and a school in Thornhill, the centre provides therapies and treatments for children with special needs so they can reach their full potential. A feature of the festival will be the Zareinu Experience, an interactive educational zone where people can learn what youngsters with disabilities experience every day. The event will also feature a one-kilometre kids’ run, five- and 10-kilometre runs, five- and 10-kilometre Kangoo runs, a 20-kilometre family bike ride, a two-kilometre family walk, power paddle boats, a rock wall, a swing carousel, a bungee run, a merry-go-round, pony rides, a petting zoo, meltdown and cannon blaster rides and a fantasy circus. The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and can be accessed through the entrance at Sheppard Avenue and John Drury Drive.
