A charitable organization focused on delivering art programing to underserved communities is turning to crowdfunding to save a fashion program after its funding ended. Art Starts, which runs out of Yorkdale Shopping Centre, is hoping to raise $3,000 by Thursday, Sept. 18 to keep the Sew What?! program going through the fall semester while working to secure long-term funding, the organization said in a release. The Ontario Trillium Foundation funded the youth program for the last three years. The funding ended this year. The fashion arts program trains Toronto youth to pursue fashionfocused careers and further their education. More than 75 youth have graduated from the Sew What?! program, and three recent graduates have been accepted into accredited post-secondary programs. “Over the past three years, I have personally seen the positive impact that Sew What?! has had on the participants,” program manager Carleen Robinson said in a release. “We look forward to continuing this arts training over the years to come.” To donate to the crowdfunding campaign, visit www.artstarts.net or https://greedygiver.com/campaigns/ Save-Our-Program
