At a press conference at York University Wednesday, the federal government announced a $15.5-million investment into an initiative called the Connected Health and Wellness Project. The private sector is also contributing $23 million. “I’m here to deliver what I believe is incredibly good news,” Gary Goodyear, minister of state for the federal economic development agency for Southern Ontario, told dozens of people gathered at the new Life Sciences building to hear the news. “We’re at the forefront of the next generation of health care management.” The project, a venture between York University and 15 other partners such as McMaster University, could “revolutionize” health care management in Canada and around the world, save health care dollars and create jobs, Goodyear said.
