A special edition recognizes SickKids’ mission peter haggert editor’s desk Sometimes you just have to make a statement. And with this, The Parkdale Villager’s first-ever themed edition, we’re recognizing the importance of the work at The Hospital for Sick Children
(SickKids) in pursuing the goal of healthy and happy children in our community. Inside, along with your regular news, you’ll find stories, photos and other information related to the good work of SickKids. It’s Healthy and Happy Month at SickKids and we encourage you to visit their healthyand-
happy.com website. Along with the stories on the important work of SickKids in this edition, we’ve collected stories on a number of other community programs and efforts which also contribute to healthier, happier children. It’s all to show how integral the important goals of SickKids are in our neighbourhoods, our
community and, frankly, around the world. For The Villager, it’s all about contributing to the building of better communities. And what a better place than to build a partnership with SickKids. Please read our editorial (Page 4), for more about SickKids and a list of some >>>visit, page 7
Michael Williams-Stark can remember at a young age his mother holding him up in front of the medicine cabinet mirror and explaining to him how he was different. She would point to the facial differences resulting from his cleft lip and pallet: the scars above his lip and slightly asymmetrical nose. “But she did it in a way that made me feel unique and special,” Stark said. But not everyone was as loving as his mother, and growing up with a facial difference wasn’t easy. There was teasing and name calling, insecurity and emotional repercussions from having a face that others labelled as different. “I think for a while I was a pretty tough, hard-to-get-to guy, or at least I tried to be,” he said. “I didn’t like people that much, they were just instruments of cruelty.” Now in his 50s, Stark, who lives in South Parkdale, sees his facial difference as a gift. “I will always see the world through the eyes of that little boy, but at the same time I think it makes the successes all the sweeter because you know what you have gone through to get there.” >>>IMPROV, page 6

Zoë, 9, has spent most of her life at SickKids ERIN HATFIELD ehatfield@insidetoronto.com Nine-year-old Zoë has had more than her fair share of health challenges in her young life. Having had a heart transplant at eight months and then two battles with cancer, one might think Zoë would seem sad or overwhelmed, but sitting in her Trinity Bellwoods neighbourhood home, her big smile and infectious laughter tell a different story. Everything from the friendly nurses to engaging volunteers and fun camp counsellors who bring their program to SickKids have kept Zoë, who has spent much of her life in the Toronto children’s hospital, positive and happy through her treatments. “It keeps your mind stimulated,” said Zoë’s mother Dana MacLean. “When you are sitting in a hospital room, your mind tends to delve into being sick and alone and lonely, but the laughter created around you really helps to keep you positive.” When she was born, Zoë was diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart syndrome and at eight months old she
received a life-saving heart transplant. Zoë recovered well, but at four years old, she started to get sick. She was admitted to SickKids in May 2009 with severe stomach pains. Zoë stayed through to July and her medical team was focused on pain management and nutrition. Zoë was readmitted to SickKids in the fall 2009 and was finally diagnosed with T-cell Post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD), a difficult to diagnose type of lymphoma that occurs in patients on anti-rejection drugs. “She has the cancer because of the immune suppressants she was taking to keep her body from rejecting her heart,” Dana said. Zoë was treated in hospital from 2009 to 2010 and then had a recurrence of lymphoma last summer, which was treated from August 2012 to January 2013. “She is finished treatment now and is working on getting stronger and better and growing her hair back,” Dana said. For this little girl who loves
jewelry, drawing, animals and most of all her dog, Meatball, SickKids has been life as she knows it. “Especially over the last three or four years, our life has been revolving around SickKids,” Dana said. But it hasn’t been all bad in Zoë’s eyes. Zoë loves when Camp Oochigeas, a camp for kids with cancer, comes to SickKids to do crafts and singing. “They decorate the room with pictures and they have this fake campfire in the middle,” Dana said. “They bring the outside inside and they sing camp songs.” A huge effort is made to entertain the kids and occupy families with things like Marnie’s Lounge, a rec-room with a kitchen, pool table and air hockey, where Zoë has had a couple of birthday parties. Zoë said she has met lots of kids and nice nurses at SickKids. Her mom said Zoë is the most popular kid at SickKids, and the nurses go out of their way to make friends with Zoë. “They all have games they play and private jokes,” Dana said. “When Zoë was younger,

they would give her her own patient chart.” Making Zoë an honourary nurse took a lot of the scariness out of the situation, Dana said. “They made her more engaged in her own care,” Dana said. Volunteers at the hospital provided parent relief by playing games and doing crafts with Zoë, giving her parents a chance to grab a coffee or have a break. Dana said the volunteers were also really great at involving siblings, such as Zoë’s younger brother Milo, 5, and making sure they are engaged. “The staff are very empathetic. They just get it. They get that things are hard and you need a lot of information and they are very patient with explaining things,” she said. “They encourage parent participation and family participation.”

Zoë is always given a voice in how she wants things done, which Dana said gives Zoë a little control in the situation.

Fiddlehead-focused contest raises money for SickKids ERIN HATFIELD ehatfield@insidetoronto.com
N
ew Brunswick native Nick Secord likes his fiddleheads boiled with a little garlic, a pinch of salt and pepper and occasionally a bit of Parmesan cheese. Nick and his wife, Nina DiLorenzo Secord, own and operate North America’s largest processor and distributor of fresh and frozen fiddleheads, Norcliff Farms Inc. in Port Colborne, Ont. Although Nick may be a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to preparing the young curled greens, the couple decided a number of years ago to accumulate recipes and inform people of all the different ways to prepare the spring-time treat and out of that grew So You Think You Can Cook? Fiddlehead Culinary Competition. Now in its sixth year,
the competition, which raises funds for SickKids Hospital, features unique fiddlehead-focused meals prepared by local chefs. “It is a very different product, it is extremely unique,” Nina said. “So that is where this culinary competition came into play.” Chefs submit their recipes and three are chosen for the event. The fundraiser includes a fivecourse dinner prepared by the chefs with wine pairings by Cavallina Wines and Majestic Wines. “In the past, we have recipes that are fiddleheads on their own or made with chicken or pasta, we have even had fiddleheads in the middle of a gnocchi,” Nina said. “We have even had sherbet made from fiddleheads.” The three main courses are judged by celebrity chefs Massimo Capra, John Higgins, Therese DeGrace,

Christopher Ennew, Rob Rainford, and a winner is chosen. Chefs competing this year include Dan Leblanc from Niagara-on-the-Lake, Abbey Solomon from Fonthill, ON, and Jonathan
Viau from The Distillery District. Nick, who calls fiddleheads, “the most holistic product in the universe” said the furled frond is an excellent source of iron, fibre, niacin, vitamin A,
vitamin C, potassium, riboflavin and calcium. He added they have two times the antioxidant activity of blueberries and are also an excellent source of Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids. With the health benefits of their product in mind, the Secords said the connection between fiddleheads and the hospital is a natural one. “We love children so this was an easy fundraiser to go toward,” Nina said. This year, the competition will be held in honour of Miranda Bauer, a 17-year-old high school student from Niagara Falls who championed her own fundraising for SickKids during her battle with a rare form of cancer. Nick and Nina had gotten Miranda on board to be an ambassador for So You Think You Can Cook?, but she died March 27.
In celebration of Miranda, Nina said proceeds from this year’s event will be donated to Dr. Malkin’s Rhabdomyosarcoma Cancer Research Centre at SickKids in Miranda’s name. “It makes this year very personal,” Nina said. “But we still want to make it festive because it is in celebration of her life.” The evening will also feature a dozen fiddle players to entertain diners throughout the evening. “I try to make it very upscale and fun,” Nina said of the evening. Tickets for this fundraiser, which takes place on Friday, May 3 at Gossip Restaurant, 50 Prince Island Cres. at Exhibition Place, are $100. Focus on Healthy and Happy children
A
child is registered in the emergency department at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) every nine minutes. That tells you how critical the work of SickKids is in your neighbourhood, the City of Toronto and beyond. May is Healthy and Happy Month at SickKids and the goal is to raise funds and awareness for childhood health issues. This year’s emphasis is an issue we often fear to talk about – children and mental health. It’s an essential conversation. Some 10 to 20 per cent of youth are affected by a mental illness or disorder. Now silently, repeat that number to yourself and reflect on what that means. Now remember only one in five children who needs mental health services actually receives them. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among youth. That shouldn’t be. Every child deserves to be healthy and happy. Please support children’s health this month and visit two special websites set up by SickKids: www.healthyandhappy. our view com – this website offers many opportunities for interaction Let’s talk and discussion on any number childhood illness topics, with mental health of an emphasis this year on child mental health. It’s a great place and kids to start looking for mental health information. And there’s even a quiz on the website that visitors can take. www.aboutkidshealth.ca – this wonderful resource is essential for every parent. It’s a collection of health information from A-Z, along with news, stories and discussion of issues facing today’s youth. There are stories, video, instruction – and even a newsletter for you to sign up. You may not need parenting information, but you know someone who does. Let them know about this site. SickKids is not a secret. More than 265,000 donors raised $111.7 million in 2012. You’ll find an impressive list of fundraising events in a calendar in today’s newspaper. Many events were initiated by community members. Torontonians, Canadians and people around the world are fortunate to have SickKids as a resource. Between health services and the largest child health research facility in the country, we need to recognize this great resource and take advantage of its community outreach. As they would say at SickKids, every child deserves to be healthy and happy.

The perils of not articulating a transit vision
W
atching the discussion on transit funding leaves the impression it is all about getting someone else to pay. While versions of this probably have been around since democracy was born, in the case of Toronto’s transit funding, our debate will lead provincial decision makers to the conclusion that Queen’s Park needs to dictate our funding and responsibilities. Although politicians swear they never pay attention to polls, the correlation is amazing between councillors’ positions and that of their constituents, as reported by the latest IpsosReid transportation survey. For example, almost 60 per cent of Scarborough and Etobicoke residents use the car as their primary means of transportation. These districts are the least supportive of highway tolls, a fuel tax or vehicle registration tax. Residents in Toronto’s core have different ways of getting around. Eighteen per cent report they move mainly by walking, and six per cent by bike. These figures are at least three times higher than
david soknacki beyond the headlines most of Toronto’s suburbs. Almost half of downtowners describe their primary means of transportation to be public transit, while only one quarter use the car. So it is not surprising that downtown residents and their councillors advocate prioritizing public transit, cycling and pedestrian infrastructure through payments made mostly by motorists. Nor is it startling that motorists, mostly suburbanites, are not enthusiastic about paying more for someone else’s mode of transport. Downtowners and suburbanites only come together when they find someone else to pay or when they agree that they are overburdened by income or property taxes. Complicating matters are tax policies that no longer connect revenues with services. Purchase an average car for $25,000 and your $3,250 in HST goes to the federal and provincial governments. Ditto for the amounts you pay for insurance and repair. Fill up the
tank with 60 litres at $1.22 per litre, and about onethird of your total goes in taxes, $10.40 to the federal government, and $13.94 to the province. Nothing goes directly to the municipalities. As a result, motorists do pay for the privilege of driving. It’s just that they don’t pay to municipalities. Neither the federal nor provincial governments wish to give any but a small portion of those taxes to municipalities. But city dwellers look mostly to council to address their road and transit needs. As everyone looks for someone else to pay, moving around in our cities has become a problem. Since council will not decide on how to finance transit, and has shown itself unable to articulate a vision, the provincial government, through its transit agency Metrolinx, has no choice but to step in. While it is human nature to want someone else to pay, and self-preservation to let someone else take the responsibility, the need to have our transit and transportation system fixed by Queen’s Park will not go down in history as one of our great moments.

Proposed bylaw may limit bars, restaurants along Queen West ERIN HATFIELD ehatfield@insidetoronto.com Addressing concern over the influx and impact of bars and restaurants along Queen Street West in Parkdale has come down to concentration. At the final public consultation on the Queen Street Restaurant Study, held Monday, city planners presented a proposed bylaw to limit the concentration of bars and restaurants on Queen Street West between Roncesvalles Avenue and Dufferin Street. City planners were directed to do the study by council after concerns mounted about late-night drinking establishments and restaurants, and the impact they were having on the neighbourhood in terms of noise, parking, garbage and even their effect on the diversity of services available to local residents. “There is a desire to have more restaurants, but the concentration of late-night
drinking establishments is a problem,” explained Dan Nicholson, senior city planner. “We heard that there is a need to balance those competing interests.” On Queen Street between Dufferin Street and Roncesvalles Avenue, there are 73 restaurants or establishments of similar use, 46 of which have liquor licenses equaling more than 4,000 licensed seats. Of those seats, more than half are located in a small pocket between Brock Avenue and Noble Street. Nicholson said the city needs to prevent that trend from repeating itself further west on Queen Street West in order to maintain a diversity of services and a walkable community. “We need to prevent that from replicating while still providing an opportunity for new restaurants,” Nicholson said. “That is what I am trying to balance. “The issue is one of concentration. When you have that much concentration it can be a problem. When you
have that many (bars and restaurants) in a row it becomes an attraction and serves as a regional tourist draw.” To combat that, city planners are proposing the concentration bylaw, which would limit the number of restaurants within a given area. Exactly what that will look like still has to be assessed by legal staff and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. The bylaw also proposes: • To limit the size of an establishment’s seating area to 200 square metres or just more than 2,000 square feet; • That there can be no more than one establishment in a building and limited to the ground floor. Nicholson explained that zoning works on a go-forward basis and a new bylaw would not impact the current establishments. An interim control bylaw, prohibiting new bars and restaurants from opening for a period of one year, was
introduced in October in order to give the planners an opportunity to complete the study. The proposed bylaw will go before the Toronto and East York Community Council in June and will be considered

Back in the mid-1990s, while watching a documentary on facial differences with a friend, she suggested Stark should be working with children. “She said, “Don’t you think you should be working with kids like that? Wouldn’t it have meant a lot to you when you were a kid to meet an adult like you?,” Stark recalled. He found it sage advice, and started doing workshops using acting, theatre and improv games with About Face, a North York organi-
zation that promotes and enhances the emotional and mental well-being of individuals with facial differences. “They were such a hit that I was asked to come to SickKids and teach there,” Stark said. He did workshops at the hospital for five or six years before deciding to apply for charitable status for Making Faces in 2004. There is no charge for the workshops and Stark said his dream is that Making Faces will either find government backing or a sponsor to help him focus on the charity and ensure it goes on after he isn’t able to do it anymore. He said he is looking at getting a space to host regular
weekly workshops and start leadership training so his older students can learn to teach workshops. “I would just like to see this thing take off and kids like us get some encouragement and support,” Stark said. Stark said there is a new Making Faces executive director and they are looking at launching new programming this summer. He also hopes Making Faces will be able to travel to the places he has been asked to go such as across Canada, into the United States as well as Indonesia and the Philippines.

Queen Street West ‘human chain’ aims to destigmatize mental health issues In the past year, the “Stop The ‘Crazy’...Because It’s Crazy Not To Talk About Mental Health” campaign has been hard at work to put an end to the stigma around mental health. This weekend they will recreate the event that started it all as they stretch a human chain along Queen Street, making a visual statement to stop the silence and speak out about mental health. Stop The Crazy is an ini-
tiative to raise awareness of the need for mental health support services in Toronto, and also to increase understanding and acceptance of citizens struggling with mental illness. It is done on an entirely volunteer basis by some of the staff at Arrabon House. A r r a b o n Ho u s e i s a Parkdale group home for teenaged girls who have experienced trauma, abuse and mental health challenges. This year’s human chain will take place Saturday, May
4 in Parkdale. The event begins at Masaryk-Cowan Community Centre, 220 Cowan Ave., at 2 p.m. with a barbecue and information session. At about 3 p.m. participants will march to Queen and Roncesvalles Avenue and hopefully draw more people in along the way. When they get to Roncesvalles people will stand shoulder-to-shoulder stretching east along Queen Street West. Participants who choose to will place tape over their mouths with a word

Jack Layton’s tie inspires Homes First fundraiser, May 8 ERIN HATFIELD ehatfield@insidetoronto.com After Jack Layton’s death, one of the tasks his son Mike Layton took on was sorting through his father’s things. As one might imagine, Jack Layton, the leader of the federal NDP party who died in August 2011, had accumulated quite a number of ties – nearly 300 of them, Layton
said. “There were ones that were beautiful and ones he wore during debates or with some sentimental value,” Layton said. “And then there were ones that were really old and not too attractive.” Layton picked a few out he wanted to save for himself and gave his sister a few for a crafting project. He purged a large number of them and dropped
them off at the Goodwill. “But with about 80 of the ties, I had little labels made with Jack’s signature and then his mother (my grandmother) sewed them on the back of the ties,” Layton said. “We use them to donate them to various fundraisers.” Ten of those ties ended up at Homes First, a social service agency that works to provide affordable, perma-

MAY 2: FIGHT FOR INDEPENDENCE Fight for Independence is a charity boxing tournament featuring great food, drinks and music that supports SickKids and Nazareth House. http://www.fightforindependence.com/ MAY 3: SO YOU THINK YOU CAN COOK The sixth annual ‘So You Think You Can Cook’ Fiddlehead Culinary Challenge pits three executive chefs against one another to see who can create the best fiddlehead appetizer, main or dessert. The event is in memory of SickKids patient Miranda Bauer and supports rhabdomyosarcoma research at the hospital. http://www.norcliff.com/cooking-contest/2013-culinary-competition/
nent housing and transitional supports, for a fashion show last fall. But, instead, those few ties sparked an interesting fundraising idea. “Whose tie would you buy?”, soon became the question around our office,” said Marie MacCormack, the Homes First foundation executive director. “We thought perhaps other famous folks would give us a tie or scarf. And did they.” They put a call out to notable Canadians and Home First was able to acquire ties and scarves from the likes of Justin Trudeau, Margaret Atwood, Stephen Lewis, Arlene Dickinson, George Stroumboulopoulos, David Suzuki and Michelle Landsberg. All of the accessories are to be auctioned off at the Homes First “Tie One On” live and silent auction May 8. Each item comes with a unique note, explaining the significance of the tie or scarf donated. “The nice thing is there are specific moments attached to the ties,” said Kallan Lyons, one of the organizers of the event. Margaret Atwood donated a scarf she got at Oxford University in the Spring of 1991 while delivering the Clarendon Lectures, which led to her writing her book Strange Things. And news broadcaster Heather Hiscox donated two well-traveled scarves she wore while broadcasting during the

2012 Summer Olympics in London, while Steve Paikin donated a tie he wore while moderating the 2006 federal leaders’ debate. A few of the silent auction ties and scarves are paired with other items - Stuart McLean’s tie comes with a copy of his book Home from the Vinyl Cafe ; Amanda Martinez’s scarf is paired with her CD; and writer Lawrence Hill has donated a signed copy of his novel Book of Negroes to accompany his tie. And one of Jack Layton’s ties, which was made by his mother, Doris Layton, will be auctioned off with a bike. Tie One On takes place at Revival, at 783 College St. Tickets are $50 and include a drink, food and live music by the Swamp Yankees. Homes First, which provides affordable, stable and
appropriate housing across Toronto, currently owns and/ or manages 16 buildings. The funds raised at Tie One On will go toward supporting the 550 men, women and children through Homes First new gardening program, which will see three new gardens established at the Savards, Meegwetch and Shuter sites in downtown Toronto. Homes First hopes to make this an annual event with Jack Layton’s ties being a feature auction item for at least the next nine years. Mike Layton said he is quite pleased with what one tie has inspired. “Homelessness and housing was an issue my dad was passionate about,” Layton said. “So it seems fitting.”

well connected in the neighbourhood, the facility is an integral part of the community providing an incredibly important child care service to many families that are new to the country, single parents and also children with special needs. They believe in fostering creativity and acceptance in guiding the children they care for. They run year-round integrated programs for preschool, kindergarten and school aged children who have a variety of needs. Why do they need our help? With the integration of Full Day Kindergarten, child care centers face new challenges. In an effort to reach new families it is imperative to provide an uplifting learning environment. Our initial visit to Happy Day showed us how it is a vitally important part of our community, committed to the children and families they are
serving. We are thrilled to help them continue to do so, along with your help for our RED Day makeover. Participants from our Junction office of 30 strong are excited to complete this makeover in the 24 hr period from May 8-9. We are up for this very worthwhile challenge! Activities will include an outdoor adventure day for the kids, a makeover of the facility and a celebratory “reveal” of the work done, with food, a visit from a Toronto Fire truck, and refreshments for the families, staff of the Center and all of the volunteers and participants. For more information, please contact KW Cares Chairperson: Jackie Carron at 416-236-1392 or Jackie@ jackiecarron.com. Follow our progress on facebook at www.facebook.com/ KWNeighbourhoodRedDay.

Each year, on the second Thursday in May, almost 80,000 agents from across the United States and Canada participate in a wide range of projects, devoting their time to renewing and energizing the communities they serve. This year, newly opened Keller Williams Neighbourhood Realty Brokerage, located at 2968 Dundas St. W., in The Junction, has partnered with a local day care that is very deserving of an upgrade. Family owned since 1972, Happy Day Child Care Centre (676 Jane St.) is a fully licensed facility supporting families in the Jane/St. Clair area. Very

days and two nights camping, canoeing, and communing with nature and each other, explained Constable Vince Langdon with the Toronto Police Service who coordinates the TROOP program. TROOP is a unique partnership forged between the Toronto Police Service, Toronto Parks Forestry and Recreation and ProAction Cops and Kids. TROOP makes eight trips a year with 200 youth, 50 officers and 20 agency youth workers and parks and recreation staff.
Two of those trips, totalling 43 youth, are comprised of Duke of Edinburgh’s Award candidates. The other groups are made up of at risk youth who wouldn’t otherwise have this kind of opportunity, Langdon said. “One of the groups we have going out this summer is made up of all kids that have been arrested,” Langdon said. “But, they are all now involved in a program to turn their lives around.”
TROOP was started a dozen years ago to curb issues arising in Christie Pits Park with youth and gang activity, Langdon explained. “The thought was if we could get them out on canoe trips the youth, police and parks staff would get to know each other. By sharing the experience of the excursion it broke down the stereotypical barriers between the groups, Langdon said. “A lot of the kids have never been camping or even out of the city before,” Langdon said. The trips to McCrae Lake are free for the youth through funding from ProAction Cops and Kids. Cousins Dalena Dong and Celia Le, 18-year-old students at Archbishop Romero Catholic Secondary School in York, both attended the TROOP trip last spring as part of their bronze level Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. “We love it... and we count down the days to the trip,”
Dalena said. “There is beautiful scenery, clear blue skies, a beautiful lake. It is something you don’t get to see in the city.” Dalena is a self-described video game addict, but the canoe and camping trip with TROOP tapped into a part of herself she wasn’t aware existed. “I realized I love the outdoors,” she said. “Now I like to go out for walks or just sit outside.” Her cousin, Celia, said she feels the same way. “You get to witness nature, there is no television, no iPhones, you get to talk to people one on one,” Celia said. “You get to learn things you would never learn in school.” As the youth complete their Bonze Level of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award they will also receive the Toronto Youth Challenge Award, which highlights their involvement in city supported programming.

ERIN HATFIELD ehatfield@insidetoronto.com The west-end not-for-profit Hands of a Hero Foundation is using fashion as a vehicle to speak about poverty with their upcoming Fashion against Poverty fundraiser. “We wanted to be able to showcase clothes inspired by different continents and also highlight the challenges and poverty that exist there,” said Nana Yeboah, director of events and public relations at Hands of a Hero. The organization concentrates on transforming the lives of less fortunate children in Canada and Africa, particularly Ghana. For example, last year they collected clothing, food an d toys and shipped them to children in Ghana for Christmas. In Canada, Hands of a Hero focuses on empowerment, mentorship, educating and
preparing children for their future endeavors, by empowering Toronto girls 13 to 18 by hosting mentorship programs and by pairing them with older females. AVOCATE FOR GHANA “We link them together to (look over) them for a year or two to help them get to where they want to be in the future,” Yeboah said. Yeboah mentors an 18 year old girl, who is also interested in fashion arts and is trying to start her own clothing line. “Considering I just started my own (fashion line) last year, it was a perfect match,” Yeboah said. The children they work with in Canada will be coached to become teen advocates for unprivileged children in Ghana. The Etobicoke-based Hands of a Hero Foundation

host its first charity fashion show, Fashion against Poverty, Saturday at 6 p.m. at Creatures Creating Art Gallery, 822 Dundas St. W. “We wanted to do something that was fun, but will also bring awareness to our organization and what we do,” she said. “If there are two things in this world that are universal (they) are fashion and crisis.” The clothing featured in the show is all made of fabrics and in styles inspired by different parts of the world. The show is grouped into continents such as the Americas, Africa and Asia. Nine established and emerging designers, including Yeboah, will each show 10 pieces.
