Examining your testicles

How to make sure your “downstairs” is all good and cancer free!

  

Testicular cancer is the most common cancer type for men aged 15-35. It also happens to be the easiest to cure if detected early. The easiest way to check if you’re cancer free is simply to have a feel and know what to look for.

 

Without giving too much away, you’ll be looking to check your testicles individually You already know (or should) what they feel like, so the main issue here is knowing when something won’t feel right. The best place to check is in the shower as it’s when your testicles will be relaxed and the skin easiest to feel

  

What you’re looking for is anything out of the ordinary down there You’ll solely be focussing on the testicles and not the penis. The main things you’ll be looking for are: o Any lumps on the testicle o One testicle being noticeably larger o A sensation feeling in the groin you’re not used to o A dull ache around the lower abdomen you can’t explain

    

All it takes is a simple squeeze and feel. Feel around the scrotum and each testicle should feel smooth under the skin all the way round The only time to take notice is when there’s a raise or noticeable lump when you feel about If the lump is sensitive, it should be fine If the lump is dull or has no feeling, you may want to get it checked.

  

Make it a monthly thing. Lumps don’t just happen overnight, so there’s not need to check every other day. And always ask your doctor about how to check if you’re ever unsure.
