Embrace the Ritual

Self-care offers rituals for reflection and relaxation

Some may consider my personal skin care routine fairly lengthy and product-heavy. I consider this “me time” important, and my enjoyment of the ritual of self-care is worth the time it takes. My beauty routine is actually one of my favorite moments of each day.

I make a list first thing every morning of what I need toaccomplish that day or within the week. I then use stars tomark the most important tasks and then I move on with mymorning. A brain dump helps me relax and keeps my mind fromfocusing on the things I need to get done.

Small self-focused tasks like meditation or simply washing your face can help you clear your mind and help you relax. A deliberate routine creates consistency which in turn promotes relaxation because you know what is coming next. You can use your self-care rituals to clear your head, to focus on yourself, or to plan your upcoming day.

With or without an involved routine, I urge you to take some time for self-care and appreciation every day. Ritual self-care will help you relax, calm your mind, and reflect with focus.

Our morning beauty rituals can relax us inside and out. Once relaxed, we are more able to reflect on the day we want to have. Best of all, the effects of starting out relaxed can last all day long.

1) Focus on the Face.

Slow and deliberate movements can help us turn our brains off and focus on the activity at hand. I love my rose quartz facial massager because it forces me to focus on my skin, while also helping me detox my lymphatic system.

2) Relax Your Morning.

We don’t often think of relaxation first thing in the morning, yet a morning ritual can help prepare your day and keep you relaxed by clearing your mind and allowing time for reflection. First cleanse your face, then spritz with lavender hydrosol, and follow with a light layer of balancing face oil and you will be energized yet relaxed.

3) Get into Your Head.

I have found meditation extremely helpful in relaxing my mind and making me more productive. My mind is constantly racing with information which can make it very difficult to relax, reflect, or simply move to the next task. I add ten minutes of meditation into my morning, and feel productive all day.
