TODAY’S PRE-CONCERT ENTERTAINMENT Dan McCain & John Meko Pre-Concert Entertainment fills the Kimmel Center lobby with conversations and performances curated to enrich your concertgoing experience, often featuring interviews with special POPS guests and performances by local schools, universities, and emerging artists. These fun, free programs begin 90 minutes prior to each concert. Pre-Concert Entertainment for POPS Goes to Hollywood was curated by POPS Student Co-Op and All-City Jazz Orchestra graduate Dan McCain. It features:
• Friday, September 27: The Raph KP Trio • Saturday, September 28: The Dan McCain Quartet • Sunday, September 29: The John Meko Quartet The Philly POPS has been fortunate to have Philly natives Dan McCain and John Meko as Student Co-Ops. John Meko is a trumpet player who has worked in the POPS office for five years and plays in the Temple University Jazz Band. Dan is an upright and electric bass player who is now entering his second year as a Student Co-Op and plays in the University of the Arts “Z” Big Band. Both of these talented college students have performed with The Philly POPS and The Philly POPS BIG Band and have honed their arts administration skills by providing support in our offices and for our POPS in Schools program. Dan was a three-year participant in the AllCity Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Artistic Director for Jazz Terell Stafford.
The Dan McCain Trio performs prior to a POPS concert.
