Presidents’

GoodBye

Jessica Lee—Cupertino Key Club As my last Key Club term comes to a close and graduation approaches, I've done a lot of reflecting on just about everything. There are many things I regret not doing in high school, but there are also things that I'm glad I participated in. Although there were hard and stressful times serving as Cupertino Key Club's president for two terms, I absolutely do not regret being a part of Key Club as a whole. Not only did it inspire me to give back to the community and force me to step out of my comfort zone to act as a leader, but it also allowed me to be a part of a massive family where I created many lasting friendships that I'll never forget. Throughout high school, I've grown a strong passion for Key Club, and being a part of it will allow me to remember all the memories made whenever I look back to the past. This term was definitely not easy, but I'm glad that I had the opportunity to help revive the club within the last two years with the help of my officer board and all the new ideas that were implemented. I'm so thankful for everyone who has made this adventure the best it possibly could be, and I'll never forget being part of the Purple Penguin family!

Kirsten Kwan—Paly key Club Hey Key Clubbers! My name is Kirsten Kwan and I was the Palo Alto Key Club president of the 2016~17 term. As I pass on the torch to the next president, I would like to give thanks to all the penguins I have had the chance of meeting and bonding with over this past year. You guys are amazing and it has been a blast working alongside your club presidents to have an awesome term. Shoutout to all of my fellow presidents for your great ideas, encouragement, and spirit! For those I did not get a chance to meet, I hope to cross paths with you in the future and I hope you come to share the same love and passion for Key Club as I do. To all the new officers of Division 34 South, I know you guys are going to do great this coming term with Veronica Martin as your new Lieutenant Governor! Thank you all for filling my last year of high school with many memories and lots of joy. It has been an honor to have served all of you this past year and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors!

Jia Seow—Los Altos Key Club To Division 34 South: My name is Jia Seow and it has been my honor to serve you during the 2016-2017 term. From Fall Rally North to Conclave,

you have given me a shoulder to lean on. These past eleven months have been filled with euphoria, spirit, hype, stress, and more than I could have ever asked for. I can say that I have learned more about myself over the course of the past term than I have at school so far. Some things I took away from this term include learning how to put myself even further outside of my comfort zone, and recognizing the importance of logic in impactful decisions. It is with much regret that, for the 2017-2018 term, I will walk down the road of retirement. I have chosen to step down from my club’s board and join the ranks of our members, and I know I am making the right decision. Besides stepping down in the hope that I will make room for future leaders to shine, I want to experience my last year to the fullest and do everything I can to make myself and my division proud. To all the rising officers and future members of Division 34 South: I hope you will continue Key Club’s tradition of caring through the spirit of service. To all the retiring officers and senior members: It’s been a fun ride, and I will miss you. Please come back and visit our ohana in the near future! Thank you all for making me proud to call myself a Key Club member, and for giving me a reason to serve. Sincerely, Jia Seow Ask me how I feel: An ode to key club ask me how I feel about love at birth I would have given you a cry of some sort it may have been for

one of my parents it may have been for the siblings I will never have ask me how I feel about faith at five I would have cherry-picked a song about jesus sang it to you and it would have been so obvious that I pretended to know the lyrics because I knew I just knew that there was much more to faith than this I just knew that faith did not mean worshipping a divine being if I was aware of over seven billion others out there ask me how I feel about inclusiveness

when my second-grade english teacher ordered us to get into groups of I don't know how many and when I was the only one left when one of my “friends at the time passed a note to another and I wasn’t supposed to read it when I had to be the sacrifice to the gods who rescue pride ask me how I feel about the art of caring now it started with a decision propelled by impulse continued with eleven months of hurried emails about whos and whats and whens and wheres two fundraisers disguised as male pageants setting up for a track competition a shopping trip at old navy it will continue all this time love disguised itself

as fun when it never needed to for I was not born to serve you I was born to serve us
