Reasons Why I Need Femin By Alexis Davila

I need feminism because my REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS are constantly up for debate by men who do not have to deal with the restraints that are put on women. I need feminism because not taking my future husband's last name will bring shame to him as a man, even though I have always loved my last name and have been proud to be a Davila. I need feminism because when I look at media and see women of color they are only portrayed as vixens and hoes. Look up "black women" on the internet and you will only see negative suggestions. I need feminism because I hate the idea that my future son will be told to man up when he sticks up for women, when he cries, and when he plays with dolls to keep his little sister happy. I need feminism because my period does not invalidate my opinion.

So what’s for breakfast. Fruit, Fruit, Fruit. Fruit is one of the most perfect foods. It supplies you with vitamins, enzymes, minerals, carbohydrates, pretty much everything you could ever need. It is made up of mostly water allowing it to hydrate, cleanse and detoxify your body. Beautiful. It is great anytime of day but specifically breakfast. Why? Because you are doing just that, ‘breaking a fast’. You have not eaten since the night before and have an empty stomach. It is best when eaten alone because it can be so quickly and easily digested. When we eat it with other foods it cannot pass through as quickly, so it starts to rot in your stomach (gross) and your body misses the chance to process all of its rich nutrients. Fruit is the original fast food. You do not have to cook and can be easily eaten on the run. So dig up some pocket change and stop by that fruit stand in the corner of Southern Blvd and Hunts Point Ave.

Angie’s Fall TV Reviews M By Angie Roman’

Is there anything good on the 2013 fall TV schedule? Absolutely, and the new shows are just as varied as returning series like “Scandal,” “American Horror Story” and “The Amazing Race.” Most season and series premieres have already kicked. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D (ABC) – If you’re a comic book junkie like myself and like super heroes, then you already know what this show is all about. But for those who don’t, imagine what would it be like to watch “The Avengers”(movie) without all the superheroes? We’ll find out here in this spinoff. I’ll give this show 3.5 out of 5 stars. Airs Tuesdays @ 10 on ABC

Fall/2013

Sleepy Hollow (FOX) – Yes, another classic tale in a modern setting but people are losing their heads over Tom Mison as Ichabod Crane in today’s town of Sleepy Hollow. He joins sheriff Abbie Mills to solve mysteries that include a slick, updated Headless Horseman. Since this has me going back for more, I’m giving this a 3.5 out of 5 stars. Airs Mondays @ 9 on FOX

New Girl (FOX) – When an ad looking for a roommate turns into living with three single men in a 4 bedroom apartment, things can either go from good to bad, or just plain bad, but for Jessica day, she lets these guys know what it’s like to live with a female and all its perks lol. Although they find her behavior very unusual, the men support her - most of the time. 4 out of 5 stars for this show. Airs Tuesdays @9 on FOX

Masters of Sex (Showtime) – A new hour-long drama on Showtime, is a fizzy, enthusiastic quasi-historical romp about the team of scientific pioneers who transformed American attitudes toward sex. Seems pretty interesting to me, though I haven’t seen it yet, but now I think I will. Airs Sundays @10 on Showtime

Entretainment

Nashville (ABC) – If you're into what it's like to work in the music industry as a singer or song writer, then you want to check this out. The only twist is, it's country music. But hey! Drama is drama! Airs Wednesdays @10 on ABC

American Horror Story: Coven (FX) – Witches! Witches! Witches! On this third installment of AHS, the writers take us back in time to American witchcraft and all of its hidden secrets and what else lies beyond. So far from the previews, there are four young witches, Queenie (my favorite) human voodoo witch played by Gabby Sidibe, Mind-witch (one who can read the minds of the dead) played by Jamie Brewer, a witch whose powers are like Carrie (the movie) where she can control things from her mind played by Emma Roberts, and last but not least a witch with a deadly vagina, do I need to say more!; played by Taissa Farmiga. Now I don’t wanna spoil it for y’all, so you just gonna have to tune in! 5 out of 5 stars! Airs Wednesdays @10 on FX

Fall/2013

Scandal (ABC) – When you get into trouble there’s only one person to call, Olivia Pope! Olivia is a professional ‘fixer’ who makes problems go away before anyone even knows they exist. For the moneyed, the powerful and even the President. But what happens when her professional relationship with the President led to an extramarital affair, every inch of you becomes a SCANDAL! 5 out of 5 stars! Tune in on Thursday @10 on ABC to fine out!

The Walking Dead (AMC) – Zombies! Zombies! Zombies! On its fourth season the walking dead is stronger than ever with its viewers. But for those who don’t know what it’s about, I’ll give you the scope. Based on the comic book series, it follows Rick, a Sheriff, who awakens from a coma to find a post-apocalyptic world dominated by flesheating zombies. He sets out to find his family and encounters many other survivors along the way. Tune in Sundays @9 on AMC

Hiding in the Shadows Jaelyn

Hiding in the Shadows Do not stand in the shadow of someone else When you can cast a shadow of yourself A shadow is your reflection on the ground It must be distinct if it is to be found Step out of the darkness and into the light Display your personal talents without fright A day will come when you are called to lead

Do not shrink from your chance to succeed Move to the forefront and take control Seize the challenges of life and be bold Don’t let someone else take your place You are a unique member of the Human Race
