Eye contact and body language are essential to a good flirt, but the smile is the universal! Flirting is the first step in communication. It is the best way to get to know another person. To flirt means to do something, take a risk but to most, flirting means being playful, friendly, charming, having a good sense of humor, and of course taking chances in meeting new people like at a book store, Starbucks, or even on the subway. I am not suggesting that you take an unsafe risk and smile at strangers but try and smile in safe places where there are lots of people and positive energy. Smile at the stranger sipping cappuccino or give directions to a person holding a map. If we don’t smile, or communicate, we limit our chances to transform our lives. Besides, even if the person isn’t interested, you’ve made them feel good about themselves by smiling. So makes someone’s day!


Smile! Rules for Smiling • Pick a safe place • Test-drive some different smiles on your friends to see which is most becoming to you. • Practice your smile in the mirror. • Check your attitude. Is your smile sincere?

Are you ready for Spring? This time of year, everything and everyone starts changing… Some for the good and some for the bad. Yup, it’s the time of year when your mother is going to drive you crazy with the springtime cleaning. The time of year when flowers start to blossom and love starts to bloom. Who knew from the concrete that a flower would grow? Mother’s day is this month, which is exciting, and it doesn’t hurt to remind your mom how much you love and appreciate her. Mother’s day isn’t about the gifts (that’s just the extra goodies) nor is it for mothers either; I say it’s for every female role model in your life who loves you unconditionally. That can be your Grandma, Aunt, Godmother, etc. It’s good to be loved, so spread the love! What’s the best way to spread love? MUSIC! Yes OMG seasons change and so does music. Want to instantly look regal? It is all about posture so let’s get to it. It is not your muscles that take on weight but your bones. For every action there must be an equal and opposite reaction. What? Gravity is the action, and it is pushing down forcing us to carry weight. Our body must be able to accept this force while also opposing it. How does it do this? The bones are designed to go along with this downward pull, they are compression members. Inside bones is an insane meshwork of fibers going every which way so they can receive weight from any direction. The muscles on the other hand are not with this whole gravity thing. They are the opposite reaction, the tensile members. By resisting gravity muscles allow our bones to not just

receive weight but carry it. Bones carry weight, muscles move bones. I’m not about to hit up the gym. What does this have to do with me?? Everything because gravity is not going away anytime soon. Most aches and pains especially in the lower back are caused by how we carry ourselves. Take a second to observe how your body is designed; you have this nice long spine closer to the back and a softer, boneless abdomen in front. Our weight is transferred through the spine while the muscles in front resist this. Put simply down the back and up the front but this must always ALWAYS start from your pelvis, not your upper body. While sitting try this: keeping your upper body still lengthen the base of your spine down. Immediately you sit up straighter. Now imagine gravity traveling down your


Health: Look Like A Queen spine, lengthening it all the way to the ground. As you start to waver backwards with this beautiful long spine counter that with the powerful pelvis and abdominal muscles. Imagine the muscles at the front of the pelvis lengthening up. Continue this pull up your abdominals but make sure your chest and shoulders remain stationary. Now you have these two balanced forces, gravity lengthening your spine down to the earth, and the energy created by your muscles lengthening to the galaxy above. It is difficult to maintain this posture all the time but be mindful of it. Throughout the day take a second to lengthen down the back and up the front. It is an abdominal workout without breaking a sweat and you look incredibly regal.

In any exercise or motion imagine that your bones are the structure taking the weight and let your muscles be free to move the body. Strut around with your newfound length and know that there is balance in your body.
