Think On These Things By Reverend Juanita G. Wingo
Hold On To Your Pearls! “And the word of the Lord was precious in those days...” I Samuel 3:1 The Word of the Lord is precious in these days. The word of man is plenteous. Everyone thinks he hears a word from God. Just because it comes from a pulpit does not mean that word is from God. Every preacher preaching does not speak truth. Words are spoken intended to please the flesh and make people feel good. But God’s truth does not always feel good. It does not always offer a promise of future prosperity. The true Word of God is like a two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of the soul and the spirit. It will cut, not placate. The true Word of God is like a mirror offering back a reflection of who you really are. It will expose, not flatter. Man’s word will invigorate the flesh. It will sound good to the ear, but it will do nothing to advance the soul towards redemption. Everyone does not want the truth. If you’ve been trying to tell someone something and they just will not listen, realize that everyone will not receive the truth. Stop giving advice and precious wisdom to people who will not hear. Stop trying to raise up children in the Lord that God did not give you. Stop trying to mentor those who will not follow. Don’t be fooled into believing that every person in front of you is a potential student. Don’t cast your pearls before swine. Hold onto your wisdom. God will send those who will receive it. Even full to bursting, you must not release it until God tells you to. Stop trying to create opportunities for yourself. There are those who will not listen. They would rather have the word that makes loud and empty promises. Let them have man’s inflated word. There will come a people who will reach for what you have to say and who will be transformed by the Word you speak. Until then – hold on to your pearls. Let them grow in the shelter of grace in the ocean that is God. When lustrous and full term they will bless the hearer with a measure of grace, and the Word of the Lord will flourish in that day. A TRUE MAN OF GOD Prays, Teaches, Preaches and Reaches Baltimore
“But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry”. 2Timothy 4:5 Led by God, Rev. Dr. H. Walden Wilson II came to the Israel Baptist Church with an assignment to serve the Lord and to teach the saved and unsaved about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Israel Baptist Church is known as The Praying, Preaching, Reaching and Teaching Church. Pastor Wilson has been obedient to his call. With over 2,500 members, Pastor Wilson encourages his members to study God’s word daily and come out to bible study. Pastor Wilson teaches from the Bible Study course MasterLife. This is a phenomenal biblical process for growing disciples. The goal of the Bible Study lesson titled MasterLife is for Christians to develop an everlasting, obedient relationship with Christ. There are over 30 ministries to join at IBC. The Outreach Evangelism in the community consists of the Sanctuary without Walls, Outdoor Worship Services, Witnessing and providing aid to those who are in need in the Body of Christ and throughout the Baltimore communities. Pastor Wilson has brought over 5,000 souls to Christ. On any given day, you will find Pastor Wilson and his members feeding the hungry and assisting those less fortunate here in the United States and in Africa, South America and Central America. Pastor has a passion for Winning souls to Christ and educating them with the word of God. Pastor Wilson says, “My purpose is to build up those who society has let down and encourage those who have accepted Christ.” Years ago, you would see Pastor Wilson and some of the IBC members stopping the drug traffic in the streets of Baltimore City. Many drug and alcohol addicts have come to Christ by way of Pastor Wilsons’s teachings and the Mattie B. Uzzle Outreach Center. Sister Mattie B. Uzzle directed the one-room center in the basement of Israel Baptist Church over 25 years ago. Today, the Center is a shelter with 45 beds for women and young children. The center has helped rehabilitate men and women to get their lives back together. Pastor Wilson said, “These men and women were once a liability to society and now they are an asset to society. Many became saved and many have continued their education. Some became preachers, social workers and counselors and are now helping those who were once like themselves.” Some other outreach programs in the community are The Soup Kitchen, The Clothes Closet, The Food Pantry and Bag Lunch Programs. When I asked Pastor Wilson what is his vision for Israel? He said, “His Vision is to build membership through empowering and educating the members of Israel Baptist Church, expand the Church and to build an alternate school for troubled children, who have fallen in the evil hands of society.” “His vision for the world is to win the world to Christ, “we will have peace, no wars, no hatred, and no poverty.” Thank God for Pastor Wilson and his commitment to Praying, Preaching, Teaching and Reaching Souls to Christ. Word of… “Strength” From Minister Tyrone Pettiford, Chaplain/ James Tabernacle AHC
Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually. (1 CHR 16:11); Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength: (ISA 26:4); The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace. (PSA 29:11); He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. (ISA 40:29); God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. (PSA 46:1); Thy God hath commanded thy strength: strengthen, O God, that which thou hast wrought for us. (PSA 68:28). Power Magazine August 2009 n n n
