Young Power February 2010

By Joshua Wingo Happy New Year People! Welcome back to Young Power in the Power Magazine. We received so much love and support from our first appearance last month. I just want to thank everyone, and please continue to spread the word about what are doing here at the Power Magazine. It’s Black History Month and we encouraging everyone to take a few moments out of the week to reflect on the important figures that brought us where we are today. More importantly, reflect on how we are going to continue their legacy. Our city is plagued with gangs, drugs, and all types of issues. The youth in our church have to continue to be role models and lead by example. Ok, so some developments: We are launching the Young Power website in March. We will include events going on in B’more and DC, a blog to talk about what matters to you, and interesting stories on a range of topics. Also, we will introduce a way for our youth to advance their lifestyle, make money, and learn how to grow their own businesses. Young Power is looking to inspire more Young Power! You see, when you listen to MOG (Man of God) Showtime, his rough speech and gritty style will lead you to believe he’s just another 92.Q artist. His ferocity reminds us of Saigon. But don’t get it twisted, people. He is a Christian artist and is very direct about that.

His production is Grand on tracks like “Blue Light City,” and street inspiring on the “I choose Life.” The talent lies not in his ability to get reception from fellow Christians, but from anyone who appreciates good music. Showtime recently performed at the Stella awards, is doing a Haiti Relief Concert on February 20th, is making moves as the CEO of Dominion Records, and has started his own ministry. The man is on the ball for sure, displaying a big change from

the days when he was pushing weight, sleeping on couches, and getting locked up. The success story is still being told and the ending is all up to God!

Remember the Gift For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. Romans 11:29

You’ve made so many mistakes. You’ve done some really stupid things. You forget sometimes who you really are. In the face of provocation, adversity or setback you get sick. You step out of character. You stray from the path. It takes a while to work your way back to purpose. You get distracted. Conditions of your life overwhelm you and it seems like you will never get done what you’ve been called to do. Remember this: you may lose your way. You may lose your vision. You may lose your sense of worth. You may even lose your mind. But you will never lose your gift! God does not take the gift back. It is in your life for a purpose. No matter what state you fall into or where you find yourself on any given day, ultimately the calling will prevail and the gift will live. Remember the gift you have. He will never call it back. Do not despair. 4
