What inspired your start in entrepreneurship?
A couple of things that inspired me to start in entrepreneurship were my passion for fashion and the desire for more flexibility. I had a passion for bringing something different to my city within the fashion industry and making a positive impact. After losing my oldest daughter, I realized time is something that we can never get back I wanted to be a more involved parent by being more present for my children. The flexibility allowed me to attend field trips and enjoy their days off with them with no worries.
What has been your biggest challenge/failure as an entrepreneur? And how do you deal with it?
One of my biggest failures was not having the knowledge about the resources that were available to me as a business owner. Also, the lack of a team. I wish that I would have secured a knowledgeable content creator, a grant writer, and a photographer, just to name a few. I had to tell myself that I couldn’t do it all. I began to attend networking events that resonated with my target market. Speaking to people about my needs began to open doors for me
How do you balance entrepreneurship and Motherhood without experiencing burnout while pursuing your passion?
I hired my daughter to work with me. And handed over some small jobs such as video/picture editing This allows us to spend time together, and she still gets to be on her phone. (teenagers love their phones) I also decided not to open every day of the week On the consistently slow days, I decided to close, but appointments can be made for the store to open on the website By doing this, I’m able to control my days and use those days to be with my family.
What does being a Pretty Woman Who Hustles mean to you?
To me, it means loving yourself Giving and receiving your flowers. Pretty just isn’t a visual feature; it’s also your character. Always try to be your best Go after the doors that you thought you could never open.
What advice do you have for moms looking to get started In entrepreneurship?
Make sure whatever you venture into is a passion Be prepared for the down days, and always celebrate your wins, even if they are small Remember, you’re an inspiration to someone watching and sometimes you can put a smile on someone’s face and not even know it Never let social media determine or destroy your passion, and keep GOD first.

Can you tell us about your journey as an entrepreneur, specifically working in the health field and how that experience has shaped your career path?
I started my journey as an entrepreneur after being laid off from work in 2013 My career in the health field began as a Sitter, CNA, Medtech, and Medical Assistant During this time, I explored various entrepreneurial ventures but faced multiple setbacks These failures occurred because I wasn’t pursuing what truly resonated with me
My lifelong aspiration has been to create a positive impact in the world, helping others while enjoying the freedom of setting my own schedule However, my initial entrepreneurial efforts only fulfilled the latter, leading to their eventual failure
I continued my entrepreneurial journey because working for various companies in my profession revealed a growth ceiling. After a certain point, there were no further opportunities for advancement As long as God grants me breath, I aim to grow not just in my career but in every aspect of my life The desire for freedom and flexibility, allowing me to work on my terms, remained a driving force
This time, I shifted my focus from financial gains to what truly mattered to me I wanted to take the experience I gained working for other companies and apply it to my own venture, but in a way that was more aligned with my values With fifteen years of experience in the health field, I recognized that people often need emotional support, which they might lack for various reasons. They need someone who will genuinely care for them, whether at their best in the comfort of their home or within a facility, engaging in small activities that bring them joy
Working in the health field has profoundly shaped my career by making me rethink and consider every aspect of each individual’s life, whether they are a child, an adult, or an elderly senior This holistic perspective has been instrumental in guiding my entrepreneurial journey
A key part of my mission is to provide emotional support and care to individuals at every stage of life, from children to adults and seniors. By addressing the unique needs of each age group, I strive to ensure that everyone feels valued, supported, and cared for I became an entrepreneur because I saw a need among seniors that I could fulfill through my company
What inspired you to start writing, and how has it evolved into a therapeutic outlet for you?
I started writing as a child, and it has been a passion of mine ever since I was never the outspoken kid; I was the quiet one who found solace in words I would write in journals or anything I could find to put my thoughts down on paper As I grew older, writing became a therapeutic outlet for me, transforming into my safe space.
Writing provided me with a place where I could retreat when I didn’t want to talk to anyone or when I felt isolated It allowed me to vent without judgment, release my emotions, and express myself freely Through writing, I could affirm my thoughts and feelings, creating a personal sanctuary where I felt heard and understood
This evolution from a childhood passion to an adult therapy has profoundly shaped my life It has given me a way to process my experiences, articulate my emotions, and find clarity in moments of chaos Writing remains my refuge, a place where I can be completely myself and find peace.
Your books cover a wide range of genres, from nonfiction to children’s fiction. What motivated you to explore different genres and topics in your writing? Initially, I intended to write poetry exclusively However, as I grew older and experienced my own traumas and disappointments, my perspective began to shift. Working in the health field and the school system for a season also played a significant role in broadening my horizons These experiences encouraged me to explore a variety of genres and topics in my writing
My personal journey and professional background have inspired me to reach a wider audience and address diverse themes. Through nonfiction, I can share real-life stories and insights that resonate with readers on a deeper level Children’s fiction allows me to inspire and educate young minds, fostering a love for reading and learning. Each genre provides a unique avenue to connect with readers, offering different ways to impact their lives positively.
Exploring different genres has allowed me to express my creativity and address various aspects of the human experience. It has been a fulfilling journey that continually motivates me to write and share my stories with the world
How do you hope your children’s books will impact young readers, particularly in terms of self-love and educational growth?
Words matter immensely; everything we say and do holds significance We have the power to either uplift ourselves or bring ourselves down My children’s books are all about affirming selflove, encouraging children to pursue their dreams, and teaching them how to be compassionate and kind individuals
I hope my books help young readers develop a strong sense of self-worth and confidence By promoting self-love, I aim to empower children to believe in themselves and their potential Additionally, I strive to inspire them to pursue any path they desire, knowing they are capable of achieving great things.
Educational growth is also a key focus in my writing I want to instill values of empathy, kindness, and resilience in children By teaching them how to be good human beings, I hope to contribute to their overall development and help them grow into well-rounded individuals.
Ultimately, my goal is for my books to serve as a source of inspiration, education, and affirmation, positively impacting the lives of young readers and helping them become the best versions of themselves
Can you discuss your upcoming mental health guides and adult coloring books and how they tie into your mission of supporting emotional well-being?
I have created two coloring books one for children and one for adults each designed to support emotional well-being in unique ways My children’s coloring book is rooted in my observations from working with and interacting with children I’ve learned that children often struggle to express or understand their emotions.
They are very visual learners, so I designed the book to include various emotion words along with explanations of their meanings. This helps children recognize and articulate their feelings, fostering emotional intelligence from a young age
For adults, I developed a mental health coloring affirmation book This book encourages self-love and emotional healing through a combination of affirmations and small activities Each page is designed to promote mindfulness and selfcompassion, helping individuals reconnect with themselves and find inner peace
Both of these books tie into my mission of supporting emotional well-being by providing tools for self-expression and self-care By creating these resources, I aim to offer accessible ways for both children and adults to navigate their emotions and cultivate a healthy, positive mindset My goal is to empower individuals to love themselves and live fulfilling, emotionally balanced lives.
In addition to writing, you also provide professional proofreading services. How did you develop this aspect of your business, and what do you enjoy most about it?
I developed my proofreading services after my coach recognized my knack for spotting errors and details that others often overlook. This talent, combined with my passion for reading, made it a natural extension of my business.
What I enjoy most about proofreading is the opportunity to read great books. Those who know me personally are aware that I am a book junkie, and being able to immerse myself in diverse stories is incredibly fulfilling The added bonus is being able to help authors refine their work, ensuring it reaches its highest potential Contributing to the creation of polished, impactful literature brings me immense satisfaction, knowing I played a part in shaping a great book
How do you balance your professional and personal life while writing, traveling, and embracing life’s adventures?
I learned long ago that without balance, nothing gets completed When it’s time to work, I focus solely on my tasks. Conversely, when it’s time to put away the notebook and laptop and enjoy life, I dedicate myself fully to those moments. This clear division allows me to be productive and present, whether I’m writing, traveling, or simply embracing life’s adventures.
What advice would you give aspiring writers?
My advice to aspiring authors and entrepreneurs is to simply start writing Don’t worry about errors or other details just write and write every day. Focus on your story rather than seeking validation from others; the right audience will find and appreciate your work Remember, not everyone is your audience, and that’s perfectly fine.
Don’t just try to sell your book; tell your story If you’re passionate and genuine, your book will sell itself If writing is truly your calling, go all in Surround yourself with individuals who are already where you want to be, even if you have to invest financially The right mentors and coaches can accelerate your journey significantly
If you’re not a professional editor or illustrator, hire someone who is. Investing in your work signals to others that you take your craft seriously Promote your book, even if it’s not finished yet Hire an author coach, find a mentor, or join writing and speaking groups to hold yourself accountable and stay motivated, even when life gets challenging
For introverts like myself, don’t hide behind your computer Being an author is running a business, so put on your business hat and get to work This journey is full of ups and downs, so having a supportive community of fellow travelers is crucial Embrace the adventure, and let your passion guide you.
