Houseboating

There’s nothing better than living on the water for a few days or weeks, enjoying the majestic scenery from the deck of a houseboat. You can cruise the Waterway, grabbing lunch in one community, then enjoying the nightlife of the next. Whether you’re on a solitary holiday, or bringing family and friends, you’ll make memories to last a lifetime.

Swimming

Throughout the season, one of the busiest spots in the Buckhorn area is Sandy Beach, known for its expanse of soft sand that extends into the lake. Sandy Lake reminds many visitors of a Caribbean oasis of turquoise water. Here in Buckhorn, that’s due to the limestone bottom of the lake. There are no lifeguards, but parking and portable toilets are on hand.

Canoeing and Kayaking

The Buckhorn area is prime territory for those who enjoy canoeing and kayaking. Take time out as the sun rises or sets to see birds and other wildlife in their natural habitat or go for a leisurely paddle along the shoreline. Many of our resorts offer watercraft rentals or are included in your holiday package.

Diving

You might wonder what you’ll see underwater in the area. Not exotic fish, but certainly an appreciation for the history of the area. You can find relics from days gone by below the waterline. Ask at the Welcome Centre for recommendations on sites you shouldn’t miss.
