I
recently moved from my childhood hometown, Southampton, where I learned the fundamentals of life: swimming in the ocean, climbing trees, riding a bike, driving a car, falling in love. I got married in Southampton and raised three children there. As a creature of habit, when we moved a town over, I felt my heart tugging at me—my metaphysical roots were stretching, aching. What is perceptible to the senses was changing and I had to adjust to this new reality. As such, I’ve found new ways to embrace change, be positive, involve my kids in different activities, visit new places, and find new paths to happy moments. Home, I realized, is where my heart is, as the adage goes, and as the great Elvis sang, “everything that I hold dear is close enough to touch.”

Aerin Lauder carries on her family legacy and tradition in her home out East, which once belonged to her grandmother, Estée. Lauder says, “Several rooms in the house have richly patterned wallpaper and drapery, and through the years I’ve made changes while honoring her existing vision for the space. This collection is inspired by that mix, which makes a room feel more personal and curated to your individual style.” The Shade Store collaboration features delicate, soft colors, many of which carry monikers reminiscent of the area—Bridgehampton Chestnut, Sagaponack Vine, Southfork Blue, and Montauk Surf. From Woodblock Geo to Wainscott Paisley, there are eight fabric pattern options to choose from, most of which are available for Roman shades, custom drapes, cornices or roller shades. When broken down, “bon” and “heur” translate to “good” and “time” in French. Together, they mean happiness or bliss, a feeling Alexson Roy strives to bring to his clients. His journey began as an athlete realizing that for his body to continue operating at full capacity, it was essential to initiate a practice of calm, healing and tension release. As he went on to work as a personal trainer, he began implementing massage therapy with clients at the end of workout sessions so that they’d leave relaxed rather than in pain. Roy’s successes evolved into starting up his own business. After years of research, education, practice and certifications, Roy has become a trusted, go-to wellness practitioner for both individual services and events. During the summer season, his service is always offered as an amenity at the Sunset Beach Hotel on Shelter Island (head to the Bon Garden gazebo overlooking the water), but he will travel throughout the Hamptons to bring his work to events and parties. He even has a mobile spa RV that’s capable of providing mani-pedis, facials, body scrubs and more. A common event request, though, is to provide massage and reflexology for guests. shop and begins helping a variety of ailments—the sore feet of those walking around in heels; a crick in the neck that escalated into back pain; even cramped hands from typing or driving. From spa parties to personal service on the beach, Bonheur can truly custom-create the experience for all, and after summer, Roy will get ready for what he calls “wine and wedding season” when he’ll often set up at or bring clients to vineyards and provide services there at everyone’s convenience as they unwind and participate in tastings. Aside from all of his top-notch, feel-good services, the most striking quality in Roy is his passion for helping people and his dedication to community. He offers a 20 percent discount to school teachers, service industry workers, local race participants and others as a way to give back. “The very first question I ask therapists who work for me is ‘Why do you do this?,’” says Roy. “And if they say, ‘Well, it’s good money,’ I tell them I can’t use them.
