NEW PRESENTATION GUIDELINES THE PYRAMID SOCIETY - GUARDIANS OF THE TREASURE The Pyramid Society takes its role as guardians of the Straight Egyptian Arabian horse very seriously. To that end, we have been the first Arabian organization to institute policies at our flagship show The Egyptian Event, that are designed to safeguard the welfare of our cherished horses.
Notably, we were the first show to test for the use of ginger. In fact, we worked with USEF on the design of the test and implementation of the testing protocol.
Adding a fourth judge to our classes (normally adjucated by three judges) with the sole purpose of monitoring the class for violations of our rules and procedures including assessing penalties for improper conduct, grooming and any abuse or cruelty issues.

The Board of Directors of The Pyramid Society recognizes that the issue of
show ring abuse is still an ongoing struggle. With this in mind, we have taken an in depth look at the current USEF rules concerning ring conduct and guidelines for the presentation of horses to the judges. We are in the process of strengthening those guidelines where allowed by the USEF Rule Book. We are addressing inappropriate conduct by the handler in all aspects of the show including the walk, trot and any presentation of the horse for judging. The presentation of horses to the judges (or “stand-up�) is an area we feel very strongly that improvements simply must be made. This applies to all classes, including the Championship Classes. Our goal is to present the horses in a manner that is exciting and flattering to the Arabian horse, while maintaining the dignified and humane manner befitting this noblest of breeds. Specific details will be available in the 2016 Egyptian Event Prize List and
NEW USEF VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS In January, the USEF Board of Directors approved an addition to the rule book, which outlines equine vaccination requirements at licensed competitions. Beginning December 1, 2015, all horses entering the grounds of a Federation-licensed competition must be accompanied by documentation of Equine Influenza Virus and Equine Herpes Virus (Rhinopneumonitis) vaccinations within six months prior to entering the stables. Several Pyramid Society members will be attending the Kuwait International Arabian Horse Festival in February, including the inaugural All Nations Cup – Straight Egyptians, February 6 & 7, as well as the farm tours that follow.
