A VERY SPECIAL SANDOWN The CAMS and Very Special Kids are delighted to confirm they have partnered together for the upcoming Shannons Nationals round at Sandown to raise vital funds for the charity. CAMS, the promoter of the Shannons Nationals, will work closely with Very Special Kids in the lead up to the event to maximise donations and support for families of children with life-threatening conditions. Tickets to Sandown’s Shannons Nationals are now on sale – be part of history and witness the first ever S5000 race, as well as a host of exciting racing including carsales TCR Australia Series and more. Very Special Kids cares for children by providing a children’s hospice and professional family support services across Victoria, helping more than 900 families who are experiencing one of the biggest challenges a family can face. CAMS can also confirm 10 per cent of all ticket sales from the Sandown round will go directly to Very Special Kids, as well as a host of other fundraising opportunities in the lead up to the 20-22 September event. Very Special Kids will also be highly visible at the event, both at the track and on the two-day live stream - with all spectators encouraged to wear pink to show their support for the charity.
A number of Very Special Kids families will also be invited to the event to go behind the scenes and enjoy a weekend of motor sport action up-close. Shannons Nationals Director Michael Smith said the event would provide a massive weekend of racing, with the popular carsales TCR Australia Series on show, as well as the race debut of the powerful and impressive S5000 open-wheelers guaranteeing strong interest in the event. The CAMS Australian GT Championship, Kumho Tyres Super3 Series, Porsche Michelin GT3 Cup Challenge and the MRF Tyres Australian Production Car Series were also scheduled to appear at Sandown, offering plenty of on track action for fans to enjoy.
“The bigger the crowd, the more we can donate to this very worthy cause” - Michael Smith
“We’re quite hopeful we will see one of the biggest crowds in Shannons Nationals’ history at Sandown which most importantly means more money raised for Very Special Kids,” Smith said. “To be able to work with such a wonderful charity is very important for us and allows the motor sport community to give back to those who are going through a tough time and need all the support they can get. “The bigger the crowd, the more we can donate to this very worthy cause, so we’re encouraging all motor sport fans to come along

and share their support for this fantastic cause – and of course, enjoy some great racing at the same time.”
Sandown International Raceway hosts the sixth round of the Shannons Nationals from 20-22 September.
Very Special Kids CEO Michael Wasley said they were pleased to be working with CAMS to help highlight the charity’s work to the motor sport community.
Tickets to Sandown’s round can be purchased from thenationals.com.au/sandown or at the gate, with 10 per cent of all sales going to Very Special Kids.
“Very Special Kids is thrilled to be part of this upcoming round of the Shannons Nationals. We are delighted that CAMS and the entire motor sport community is getting behind Very Special Kids in September," Wasley said. “Very Special Kids relies on the generous support of the community to support 900 families that have a child with a life limiting condition at no cost.”
