Assistive Technology Assisti e tech ology (AT) is a ite o piece of equip e t that ca h lp p ti t ith t k th t th y bl t p f th i A i ti t h l gy id p ti t ith ti iti f d ily living improve quality of life and self-image and increase social interaction and independence Ou A i ti T h l gy P g f i g th t p ti t h pp p i t ti g bility d i ti y t well as providing the patient with tools to access these systems Our therapists help patients more effectively use the assistive technology equipment that they currently have or help them obtain new equipment to help them meet their needs Seating and Mobility Patients with cerebral palsy muscular dystrophy brain injury spinal cord injury spina bifida or other diti th t ff t th bility t it f t bly lk y b fit f ti g bility y t E pl f ti g d bility y t i l d h l h i lk d hi Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) A i ti y t ld b i pl i g i ti b k t i i g y b l t pl computer-based system Patients with autism cerebral palsy Down syndrome apraxia dysarthria brain injury or any other condition that causes them to be non-verbal low verbal or have unintelligible speech may benefit from a communication system Our AAC Specialists provide specific trainings and supports for our therapists so they can identify the right AAC system for your child Our ultimate goal is for your child to develop a means of functional communication to participate in meaningful activities that build ti i li ti d i d p d Assistive Technology (AT) & Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Patients with cerebral palsy muscular dystrophy brain injury spinal cord injury spina bifida or other conditions that affect the ability to sit comfortably or walk may benefit from a seating or mobility system S ti g d bility y t b highly b fi i l f hild h h diffi lty i g th i i t t h d i th ity Our therapists can provide recommendations and assist with obtaining a variety of different equipment/assistive devices including wheelchairs walkers/gait trainers standers bath equipment and much !
