As warmer weather returns to our area, we recommend more and more outdoor activities for the entire family to enjoy...and our area has plenty! Here, we suggest a hike which is quite lovely to get to. So even if you are not interested in a moderately difficult hike, you will not be disappointed by the drive or the views from the parking area. Pack a picnic and take advantage of the many tables provided in the “mile high” parking area where you will view the southeast and beyond. Nearby, at the Park Ranger Store, you can see the Great Smokies National Park and Cherokee just below you! If you are feeling up to a bit of a hike, we strongly recommend it. This 1.2 mile hike (uphill the entire way) will reward you with near 360 degree views. On a crystal clear day, you can truly see as far as your eyes will allow. The summit offers multiple viewing overlooks, but please be cautious - especially with children. Some side trail views are very steep and can be dangerous if not paying attention. Take your time and enjoy this special area. You will be hard pressed to find another quite like it!
