How to Choose the Best Coach for YOU by Marisa Ferrera
As you know, there are many types of coaches to choose from that can assist you in any area of your life that isn’t quite working out the way you’d like. The most common are coaches who focus on supporting others in the areas of money, business/career, health, relationships and life in general. Before exploring how you can choose which coach in a particular field is best for you, the most important question you need to answer is, “Are you coachable?” The best coaches will assist you in uncovering what you can’t see for yourself and provide you with tools and strategies that can help you find answers within yourself to overcome obstacles that are in your way of creating what you desire to experience. There’s no point in investing in a coach if you’re not ready to stretch yourself and move out of your comfort zone. Yes, it can be scary and yet, with a coach by your side, you will not be walking this path alone. If you believe you are coachable and you are committed to doing whatever it takes to break free from whatever is holding you back from experiencing ALL that you wish to experience, here are some things to consider when choosing a coach. 1. Get clear on what you really want help with. There’s no value in hiring a business coach if
your #1 challenge is with your relationship with your spouse, and a money coach isn’t going to help you deal with a health issue. If you have more than one area in your life that you’re not happy with, decide which one is your priority and start there. 2. Do you want to work with a male or female? Once you know the type of coach you want,
think about whether you would feel more comfortable speaking with a male or female or are you comfortable with both? Keep in mind that in order to get the most benefit from coaching, you’ll need to be vulnerable when sharing and it’s important for you to consider this question so you’ll feel safe to speak authentically during your coaching sessions. 3. What about the coach’s credentials? Some coaches have been accredited by some type of
coach training and others haven’t. You have to decide whether or not credentials are more important to you than hiring a coach who has personally overcome what you want help with. You may find a coach who meets both criteria, but not always. 4. How much are you willing to invest? The cost for coaching varies considerably and you
need to know what you’re prepared to invest so you can choose a coach that fits your budget. In addition to an investment of money, you also need to determine how much time and energy you’re will to invest. Do you want weekly sessions or a couple sessions per month? How much additional time are you willing to commit on a weekly or monthly basis to implement any actions steps that are uncovered during your sessions? The more time and energy you’re willing to
invest,
the

5. What type of coaching do you want? Do you prefer a coach who has a structured, step-by-
step coaching program that they walk you through or do you want a coach who will customize your coaching experience to meet your individual needs as you move along? Both methods can work, depending on what style works best for you. 6. Do you resonate with the coach and his/or approach? Before hiring a coach, you may
want to have a complimentary call with them, if they offer this, so you can get a feel for how they work and see whether or not you feel comfortable with them. If a complimentary call is not offered, check out their website and see if what they are sharing resonates with you or check to see if they have a Youtube channel and watch some of their videos. By doing a little bit of research, you will learn a lot that can help you with your decision. 7. Listen to your heart. Once you’ve taken into consideration everything listed above, take
some time to be still as you consider each of the coaches on your list and let your heart tell you which one is best for you. This is the most important of all since your heart will never lead you astray. As an intuitive coach, my heart-felt desire is to help others like you, connect to their soul essence and break free from limiting beliefs, blocks and negative patterns that are preventing them from having their dream relationship and/or living their dream life. I understand the pain of feeling stuck, unworthy and incapable of achieving your dreams, and I now have created for myself a relationship and lifestyle that is beyond what I imagined was even possible. I truly believe that once you uncover the Truth about who you REALLY are and tap into your inner wisdom and power, you will have the confidence and ability to recreate your life to match your heart's desires! Self coaching by Toby Negus There was once a king who would make decrees of what was going to be done for the kingdom. These often involved grand construction and great facilities for the people. The many people of his kingdom rejoiced at these and with hope, put effort into their construction. But the king was often absent minded and although he meant well he would lose interest or forget what he had started and issue new decrees for new projects, the people, who did love their king, would stop what they were doing from the last decree and muster their effort in support of the new decree. As the years went by the kingdom became full of half finished and barely started projects. The people, as you might expect, grew tired of the aspirations of their king for they did not know what he really wanted, his wishes changed so often that they lost belief in their king and could no longer muster their hope for the kingdom.
We are the sovereign, the point of consciousness, of a vast domain that is our unconsciousness, wherein is stored all our experience and all the feelings we had about them. It is a pool of resource that sways our mind and influences what we think we can and cannot do. The reluctant client The greatest challenge in coaching ourselves towards what we say we want is convincing the great powers that we are, that we mean what we say. For every day we do issue hundreds of wants to ourselves and many of them oppose other wishes we have already asked of ourselves. This often leaves a trail of contradiction that can make it difficult to muster the power to achieve what we want. So how do we become unified in our intention? Reunite the empire that we are, Say things to ourselves that we know will not go away in the light of anther day? How do we encourage and coach ourselves to tread the path that we desire? Vision
‘know thyself’ is one of the Delphic maxims and was inscribed in the forecourt of the Temple of Apollo at Delphi.
You would have thought that after, however many years a person has been with themselves that they would know all about them, be able to anticipate their needs, understand their desires and be able to attend to its requirements. But the busy life we lead often causes only a fleeting self awareness that has little depth of our true nature and deep wishes for this life. We are also bombarded with many desires from the media and other people that we can unknowingly adopt as our own. So it is wise to ask ourselves ‘does this thing we wish for ourselves come from the heart of us?’ is it what we truly want or does it belong to someone else? For unless it is truly
ours it will never take wings and fly. This is the first step in self coaching, knowing what you want, really want. Whatever it may be, it will come from the heart not the head. Having an intellectual picture full of ‘shoulds’ and ‘oughts’ may be clever but will not stand the test of time, nor will gushy emotions that fire up one day only to leave us with a pile of ashes the next. It has to come from somewhere substantial within us, be something that stirs the soul of who we are. This is the deep heart of ourselves and the feelings that belong to the core of who we are. This is what will give us the vision and unlock the power to achieve it. it will give the strength to cope with the rainy days as well as the sunny ones. This can be doen with quiet sitting, meditation. Whatever way allows you to touch the quiet of yourself for it is within that, that we are ourselves. Having found the vision that we love the next stage is as important as the profound the first step. This is the step of action, action because of the love of what was found in the first step. There are three types of action that will bring the vision found in step one to earth, to root it in life. Action One: This is the creation of habitual discipline, doing things that are not high on our fun list but useful on our day to day list. This is not heavy discipline but small everyday discipline that will build a pool of strength that can be used in action two. They do not have to relate to the purpose, they can be self care disciplines, home care disciplines or even ‘be nice to people’ disciplines. Its always best to start of small, even making the bed in the morning (if you don’t already) starts the day with a sense of accomplishment. Action Two: Thank You actions, these are the acts that cause you to say ‘thank you’ to yourself when you see it done the next day. They are the practical actions, they may be boring, or hard work but
when done give a sense of relief because you know it was wise and useful to your vision. They may come from a ‘to do’ list, a spur of the moment thing or just something that you have been putting off for too long. Whatever they are they bring hope and the feelings from the vision closer. Action Three: Creative Action: these are the actions that lubricate the engine of our purpose, they may not be directly connected to the vision, they may be just fun. But they will bring lightness, openness, willingness and the sense of well being that is so vital in life’s journey. They can be doing art, gardening, making the house nice, going somewhere different, doing something different, singing, dancing, visiting the sea, the list is endless as there is little we cannot do should we wish it to be so.

BEAUTY FROM ASHES by Karen Wiltshire
Coaching is a co-creative relationship. It is a support system that provides the client with an accountable partner, truthful dialogue and new perspectives. All Coaching is transition or transforming parts of your personal self, career, spiritual self, family and, relationships. My focus as a Transition Life Coach is to create positive shifts in thinking. This creates forward moment towards the next stage of life. Their are times in all of our lives when we transition from one stage of life to another. For some being in a relationship to being on their own. I partner with those who are struggling with a separation or divorce. This is a time when men or women need to make changes using healthy choices to grow into their next stage of life. It is a time of spiritually building up a new you. Being a Transition Life Coach has allowed me to fulfil one of my dreams and to let my clients know they are not walking this new path alone. Together we will explore what specific challenges they are facing and choose the best course to work through their adversity. This would include health, career, spiritual growth, mind-body connection, who surrounds them and who supports them. We discuss that every decision big or small will hold weight in their transitional state. It is in the asking of the ideal questions as a coach as listening in between the lines of
the answers given by the client that will gently open the doors of future possibilities. This work is key for the client to get deep and personal, to move from victim to victory. Exploration of negative patterns will unfold as well as other factors that may have contributed to their current state, clear communication between Coach and client holds the magic. Following a break up, separation, divorce or death, it is my belief that we don't go around grief, smother it, pretend there is none. but to truly meet with it face to face with tremendous courage. For those wanting to move forward does not mean getting over someone, if the love was real but to find a place for this kind of grief. It means the acknowledgement of the peaks and valleys and the reality of it all. It is as if one REWINDS the video of their lives and asks 'how did I get here'? Often this comes with deep seeded pain of loss and the uncertainty of how to move forward, how do I do this life without a partner, my dreams are broken, I am broken, I'm tired, confused, anxious and so on. Working through all of this takes time, the rewards are magical as a renewal lays ahead. It is with reflection on my own personal story and the challenges I faced...... The styles and techniques used by a Transition Life Coach include a unique recipe for each client depending on the
clients determination, their self esteem, where there like has been and where they want to see themselves. These are the following styles where I take bits and pieces for my clients: Autocratic The coach takes on a 'telling' approach, explaining to the client what they need to do to achieve their goals moving forward. The Coach holds the reins throughout the entire session. This is a ideal style if the client needs to learn a technique quickly. Democratic This is where the coach lays out the overall objectives to encourage the client to take on a self-coaching attitude. Holistic This style believes that everything is interconnected. It is looking at all aspects of the life. How the client is living currently, their past and what they want for themselves Together coach and client will explore how work-life, health, stress, etc. all connect to achieve a balanced life. 3D This form of coaching is about debugging any obstacles or attitudes that would possibly block complete trust between coach and client. Direction, which is the process of goal setting. Development, the understanding that objectives that are agreed upon by coach and client. Vision This is used for the emphasis on future thinking. The focus is for the client to visualize what their outcomes will look like. This style is used for athletes.
Solution -focus This is where the coach asks questions to verify what the client plans to achieve. This includes goal setting as well as self evaluation. This style is good for business as well as personal development as it involves introspection. Zen- Zen means meditation, which is an ancient Buddhist practice. The client is in a relaxed state where the mind is opened to an advanced form of thought and understanding. As well stress and anxiety significantly lesson. Mindfulness A type of coaching that is best used in the workplace. The theory behind this mindfulness approach is to reduce tension, increase concentration and attention span, to better relationships in the work environment and to help achieve balance. Upon the first session with a client, I congratulate them for taking the time to invest in themselves. For the clients that suffer from a significant loss, I reflect and draw from my own personal challenges and wins. Together we develop strategies to help the client to readjust to their new reality, to find new meaning and purpose. Most importantly as a Transition Life Coach is that my clients will find 'beauty from ashes'. "Grief never ends. It is a passage. Not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness. Nor a lack of faith. It is the price we pay for love". Have Courage and Be Kind. Karen Wiltshire, Certified Transition Life Coach www.yourpeaceofpower.com
ANGELIC WEALTH COACHING by Theresia Valoczy
When I first met my manifesting guide archangel Raziel, I had some experiences about manifesting and the law of attraction, but something was missing from my manifestation. I had visions and dreams that hadn't become true, worked on them, but positive results never came. Was the method that I used wrong, or did I not understand the Law of Attraction? Why did the Law of Attraction not work for me perfectly? Was the power of manifestation a privilege? Similar questions came up in my mind. Then half a year later I got the answer to all my question about manifestation, and successfully use the method that I called Angelic Wealth Coaching. Let’s see what Angelic Wealth Coaching means! Angelic Wealth Coaching is a multidimensional manifesting method based on knowing the energy system and Angelic Guidance. Archangel Raziel said that our energy system, the chakras, aura, patterns, memories - our vibration, energy frequencies - determine our future. Our words, thoughts, and feelings create our reality. If we discover these patterns, imprints from past experiences, memories, and let them go, we can develop our manifestation energy, and attract everything we want.
When we feel that something blocks our life emergence and it is impossible to realize our dreams, and no matter how much we want something, nothing happens despite all our efforts, it is worth examining what is in the background, beneath the surface. Archangel Raziel says: "What appears outside is never different from what's inside. It can only appear in physical reality, which is the same as the energy released. Everything is determined by thought and emotional vibration. There cannot be a thing in your world which you would not have created, what does not match your vibration cannot appear. You're responsible for your life." Be A Professional Questioner by Nicole D. Mignone, Esq.
Coaching has changed significantly since I first became certified in 2001. At that time I also trained clients in yoga and pilates, helping them create balance in body, mind, and spirit. I spent most of my “marketing” time explaining to people exactly what a coach is and often used references to personal training and sports so that people could grasp the idea. Times have changed. Now I spend a majority of my marketing time explaining what a coach is not. I have been a yoga instructor for over 25 years and coach for 18. During that time I have observed how the monetization of the Yoga “industry” [a topic well suited for another article] and now the coaching profession has transmuted them into a jungle of options for both client and coach. Change brings growth, especially when it invites self-reflection. What can we learn from the current dilution of the profession that presents a matrix of multi-level marketing platforms or year-long programs geared to making you a better [fill-in-theblank]? Do we need to be better, or do we need to just be? Although I believe most coaches have good intentions for entering the field, the current standardization and cookie-cutter templates of coaching has missed the mark in defining a “good” coach. Ultimately, your clients will determine who and what makes a good coach for them. These results are not always measurable, though, and the term “good” is subjective, arbitrary, and ephemeral. My informal research leads me to the following three points that I feel make a coach a Coach: Listening; Questioning; and Self-Reflecting.
1.
Listening
Listening requires skills. It sounds simple but takes practice. When we start out as coaches, we wonder whether we are helping our clients. We may compare ourselves to other coaches. We have the initial forms and templates and lots of information the client has provided about who they are, why they want a coach, and the results they are looking to achieve. What the client needs, even when they do not yet know it, is for you to show up 100% and listen to them—Fully, completely and with presence. How do we know when we are listening and being present? For me, it is when I can “feel” what the client is saying while s/he is saying it and I don’t know what I am going to say when s/he is finished. So often I have sat through an initial consultation with a prospective coach who was quick to jump in with a story of her own that, at best, only tangentially related to my story. How does your story about you help the client? It may, but first be clear on the intent behind sharing it, and above all, be concise. A 10-minute story about your own history does not reflect what the client has shared with you about her own story. Restating and clarifying what she has shared is listening. Listening requires feedback about what the client has shared, so the client can look in the verbal mirror at herself. I have witnessed negotiations and mediations where litigants have had a chance to fully express their side of the story and were then able to find a peaceful resolution to the disagreement. So many people have a silent war waging inside of them, and keen listening allows a person to make peace with that. The gift of listening is allowing the clients to also listen to themselves.
Seek out training in listening skills. One area to consider is the practice of Non-violent communication, or NVC. 2.
Is there a pattern in the types of clients you are attracting? Is that a coincidence? Did you feel defensive or judgmental? Did you talk too much or too little? Did you offer advice, even when asked?
Questioning
I ask questions. I am a Professional Questioner. People are not looking for THE answer, but rather their own internal answers. Coaching provides an opportunity for the clients to feel empowered by listening to their own answers. I often meet people who state they would make a good coach because people come to them for advice. More often, these people are just offering their advice, but the point is that a coach is not a consultant and is not here to “fix people. Giving advice becomes more about the advice giver, not the client, and it disempowers him by indirectly stating he cannot make the decision on his own.
When we reflect on our own stories and history that arose in the session, it can be a tremendous gift for our own growth. A journal and meditation can be grounding, and we help our clients with our own energetic transformation. Finally, I would recommend asking yourself the following question on a regular basis to improve your coaching skills: Are you the type of coach you would hire for yourself? Why or why not? Life is happening for us not to us. Ask yourself the questions you would most like to be asked.
Ask better questions. Ask for clarification. Give them room to answer with your silence. Keep asking them to tell you more. They will. 3.
Self-reflection
We are energetic beings transmitting and receiving information. I believe we draw in clients who also have something to teach us. After a session, take some time to reflect on how you felt before, during, and after the session. What came up for you? What questions and answers also had messages for you?

Sad, but true for so many. I would love to share a story that is near and dear to my heart. I purchased two African Violets and placed these in my classroom. What happened next was an angelic divine intervention. A student who did not seem to thrive or care about others asked if she could tend to these plants. I graciously handed her the job. This student would sit near the window and view the violets. She would water them; she was so sweet to them. Others looked on in awe; her tenderness slowly leeching out for her
I offered my student the African Violets when she left the program, but she declined and said one day another will need them. Shortly after that conversation, I left that particular building and brought both African Violets to my house. One of the plants died shortly after coming home with me.
