Robert Gordon. The original change maker. In 1729 Robert Gordon had a vision. He wanted to provide all pupils with an education as a way to improve the wider community. His vision to create a brighter future for all is the principle we still follow today at RGU. Our focus is democratising education, so that communities in Scotland and across the globe can benefit from world-class graduates that are real-world ready. And our commitment to innovative research also ensures we pursue cutting-edge solutions to problems the world is actually facing today. A learner-centric approach, supported by our state-of-the-art facilities and flexible course structure makes education work

Teaching has changed. OUR HIGH STANDARDS HAVEN’T. We pride ourselves on our progressive and consistently high standard of teaching. And we have proof of its effectiveness.

Teaching Excellence Framework

THIS AWARD PLACES US IN THE TOP 20% OF UNIVERSITIES IN THE UK

The Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) awarded us ‘Gold Standard’ in 2017, which is the highest accolade you can receive. The teaching excellence framework is the only UK governmentbacked assessment of undergraduate teaching quality across higher education institutions and rates institutions according to their teaching quality, learning environment and student outcomes. Our Gold Award shows the added value and outstanding real-world impact that our excellent teaching has on our students. This is in no small part to the passion that our teaching staff have for their subjects, coupled with their wider world experiences that extend far beyond academia. Further evidence that our innovative teaching methods translate in the real-world can be found in our graduate employment rate. We have consistently scored above 95% in recent years (currently 97.6%, HESA 2018), which demonstrates how appealing our teaching

10

methods, facilities and reputation are to industry.

What’s the bottom line? When calculating the cost of studying away from home, it’s crucial to have a clear understanding of the total living and studying costs, in addition to your tuition fees. Scholarships are a fantastic bonus but sometimes a larger scholarship may not always be better. For example, a £5,000 scholarship from a university whose fees are £17,000 compared with a £2,000 scholarship from a university whose fees are £13,000. At RGU, we like to give you the whole picture, so here are some things you might find helpful when calculating your costs.

34

TUITION FEE

RGU scholarships range between £2,000-£5,000.

RGU offers fixed fees for the duration of your course. 2018 – 2019

RGU offers a flexible payment plan.

Affordable accommodation starts at £392 per month and includes many utilities such as electicity, heating and internet. Students in Aberdeen earn £440 more than the national student average from their part time job income, at £1,383.80 per month*. *RSB/NatWest Student Living Index, 2017
