Shaheen is a virtuoso master on the violin and the oud, and a renowned composer of Arabic and Western music. This concert features Qantara, the band whose members are all virtuosos in their own musical forms; Sonia M’Barek, who can sing a centuries-old song from Andalucia and just as nimbly reframe the words of radical 20th-century poets; Auxi Fernandez, an international flamenco dancer from Andalucia; and Juan Pérez Rodríguez, a flamenco pianist also from Andalucia, Spain.
