PARISH COUNCIL ND ELECTIONS MAY 2 2019 CANDIDATES STANDING TO REPRESENT THE NEW PARISH COUNCIL OF THE SALINGS https://issuu.com/thesalings/docs/statements
SUSAN BAUGH BARDFIELD SALING
I have lived in Bardfield Saling for 30 years. I became a Great Saling Parish Councillor in 2017 and am now standing for election to the Salings PC. I care passionately about our villages and the area in which we live. We must protect our countryside and our environment, whilst ensuring that our villages offer homes and a way of life that will enable those who want to live here to do so. Our villages need a strong Parish Council which can make its voice heard when working on our behalf and dealing with Braintree District Council, Essex County Council and, indeed, with Central Government. I think that it is vital that we work together and take collective responsibility for what happens in our villages. If we don’t take action, no-one else will. I am a keen advocate of the village events which Great Saling PC has organised over recent months. Combined with the longstanding village events, they offer a great opportunity to meet our neighbours, to share news and discuss what affects us all in our everyday lives. I strongly believe that our Parish Council needs to be proactive in its role to promote, help and engage with the local community and I think that I have the passion and drive to do this.
NATASHA COE BARDFIELD SALING
I was born and bred in Buckinghamshire, leaving 3 years ago to move to Essex, I’m a relatively new resident to Bardfield Saling but not the countryside, as a farmers daughter I’ve spent my life enjoying the countryside, as well as being told that as farmers we are only here looking after the land for the next generation. I feel deeply and passionately about my surroundings. I’ve also previously been a member of a Parish Council where I lived for over 20 years. There maybe some small issues that go largely unnoticed my some, or more sizeable issues that may need a whole community approach I feel all these issues need to be addressed to ensure our families and neighbours are protected and represented in all that effort there lives. I would relish the opportunity to do this on all our behalf’s, so I look forward to your vote Natasha Coe
COLIN BENNETT GREAT SALING
DIANE GREENWOOD GREAT SALING
Since moving to this village some 10 years ago, it has been my privilege to serve this community as a Parish Councillor and getting to know the people and places within the Parish. I very much hope to continue to do so for the foreseeable future. I stand as an independent candidate and assure you that every decision or vote that I make is done bearing mind what I believe to be in the best interests of our community. Kind regards Diane Greenwood
KATHY JIGGINS GREAT SALING
I have lived in Great Saling for just over 3 years now and have been on the PC for just over one.
I love village life and try to support events as much as possible. I am on the Action Group and help run the chair based exercise classes. A lot of you already know me from the village coffee mornings, on the allotments and recent village social events. I think it’s important in a small community like ours that we all work together to keep it special.
PETER MARTIN GREAT SALING
I am an existing and very experienced Parish Councillor having served for 18 years variously as
Councillor, Deputy Chairman and Chairman of your Parish Council. I have worked with many departments at Essex County Council and Braintree District Council, growing recognition with Officers important to the smooth and efficient performance of your Parish Council. Moving to Great Saling 38 years ago was and has been a fantastic decision and I am intimately familiar with the whole Salings Parish, surrounding villages and neighbouring towns. Thorough historical knowledge of past developments and decisions around our area gives understanding of what pulls the levers and influences the things that do and will affect us all in our Parish. With the determination of Braintree District Council to create a new town next to us, I am and have been completely immersed in their proposals and the active, on going responses to their flawed arguments. Everything from the basic need for the development through to its impossible sustainability needs knowledgeable challenge.
I enjoy a wide-ranging career in corporate and commercial management at a senior level with extensive knowledge of issues of environment, ecology, people, The Law, finance and functioning efficiency which affect our Parish on a daily basis. Having tremendous energy and enthusiasm to give to the support and progress of our Parish and I would be very happy to serve as one of our Councillors.
STEPHEN SMART GREAT SALING
May 2nd marks a new era for both Great Saling and Bardfield Saling with the formation of the new Salings Parish Council. This is an excellent opportunity for our villages to become closer and work together to enhance our whole parish. As a councillor I will ensure that equal commitment to both Bardfield Saling and Great Saling is applied. I feel it is also essential that your parish council has complete transparency and accountability, providing a trust for the duties it has to perform. Accessibility is essential and I have my contact details below - I will encourage all residents to raise any issues or ideas that will enhance all our community. I’ve lived in Old School, Great Saling, for 3 years and regularly meet people in both villages, usually when walking with the 3 beagles. There are many issues to deal with - speeding seems to be high on everyone’s list along with the lack of shop/pub/library/bus… Experience - I’m Vice-Chairman of a national society, served on many committees, as well as being a trustee for a Charitable Trust. For work, I write computer software and play classical music professionally. Do contact me on: 07949488503 - Stephen@chignal.com
