KATHERINE MCNAMARA SATURNE MAGAZINE : How would you describe yourself to people who may not know you? KATHERINE MCNAMARA : Oh, that’s a really interesting question. I would describe myself as a stubborn, an optimist, a real friend, and a storyteller. Someone who just wants to bring something new and hopeful into the world. SM : You are best known for the show « Shadow Hunters » which ended 4 years ago. What’s the best memory you have from the show? Do you have a funny moment to share with us? KM : Oh, there’s so many. I share moments from making the show and before, during and after, I share that all the time. But I think, my biggest take away from Shadow Hunters would be that it has teached me a lot about myself and about making television and being a part of a show family, but the biggest take away is the Shadow fam, its the fandom, the unset family. And the family that its stand beyond. The power of a good story. The reason that we still travel all over the world so many years later to do these conventions and to meet the fans and to do anything we can to support the community, because they’ve just been there. It’s gone so far beyond the show and the story, and our characters, it’s about the individuals, the community that Shadow Hunters has created, a community of love and openness and acceptance, in a world that isn’t always those things. SM : We loved seeing you playing again with Matthew Daddario in the movie « Trust ». How was it to be back on set with him in a totally different kind of story? KM : I love working with Matt. Him and I have always done so well in Shadow Hunters, we didn’t get to work together all the time. But what’s great about Matt and I is that we have a lot more in common than most people think. We went to university to do the same thing and we both tend to have the same taste and we like to work in a very similar way. That’s why we’ve tried to work together so much. Moving forward and still are, we are still developing things together and try to work together behind the scenes as well. So then because, when you work with someone for so long, this is actually very seamless and we communicate extremely well, we tend to like the same things and value the same things in the story that we tell. But yeah, I love Matt and I love working with him. SM : I heard about the new thriller « Air Force One Down ». Can you tell us more about it? Have you started filming? KM : I can tell you that we’ve finished filming, and I can tell you that it was one of the hardest work I’ve ever had to do, but in the best way. (That’s all that I can say right now).
8
SM : You’ve played in the show « Walker Independence », which unfortunately got canceled after the first season, can you tell us more about it? KM : What I can say about the show, it’s that it was such a lovely year and a bit that we got to spend together because we all got along well very quickly. And that’s so rare that this happen in this industry and I find myself very grateful to have been a part of so many productions where that happened, and I don’t know if it’s the people or my outlook *laughs* but we were very quickly on the same page and we really enjoyed working together and I feel like I’ve made some awesome friends in that project., both in front and behind the camera. SM : Which character (that you’ve played) represents you the most and why? KM : I don’t think I could choose. You know, I think each character has a little bit of me in it and tents to leave a little piece of themselves with me. And I learned from each one of them as well. You know, it’s funny, the characters tends to, I least I find, come into your life at a time and there’s something in them that you need to learn or you need to grow from. So I think each one is a different aspect of me in certain ways. SM : Recently, you’ve done a lot of conventions where you meet fans. How would you describe this experience? KM : Its the most humbling experience I’ve ever had, surely. Not only that I get travel, and see new places and meet different people all over the world, but just getting to see the universal nature of a good story and how so many people can connect to these characters, to these stories, and to these situations. My favorite thing is getting to hear what the attendees have to say, what their stories are, what elements they loved, what are their favorite scenes, and how they’ve connected with their friends because so many of them have found this incredible community and have made these incredible friendships that are so strong lasted and grown and blossomed over for so many years, and for me getting to hear those stories, like how they met, how they connected over and sort of what got them together and kept them together and how that has changed sort of how they live their lives, that’s always my favorite part. SM : Would you have any advice for people who want to become an actor like you ? KM : Yes, I think you have to try it out. It’s my biggest advice. Try it and make sure you love it. Because I know I couldn’t imagine myself doing something else in my life, but it’s not an easy job. It’s not the glamorous life that you see on all of our Instagrams. It’s a lot of hard work and a lot of uncertainties, you need a lot of tenacity to navigate into this industry and I would absolutely encourage people to deep their toe in the water and to see if they wanna do it and if they find that it’s what they want to do most in the world, that they wake up every morning wanting to do, then pursue it. -

- But I always feel that about anything you do, it doesn’t have to be acting or singing or anything. There’s a Henry David Thoreau quote that I absolutely love : « Go confidently in the direction of your dreams, live the life you’ve imagined » and I think that’s true to any passion, drive any goal that you have in your life. If you pursue it and love it, then you’re gonna make progress somewhere. SM : Do you have a go-to ritual that you do when you’re feeling nervous, before filming or an audition? KM : That’s interesting. Music is a big one for me. I make a playlist for every character that I create and sometimes I even do it for auditions, I think it’s fun. It helps you get into the headspace. I listen to music a lot in my life anyway so, you know, different songs for me represents different moods, different kind of outlooks and I love creating I little playlist that tends to be this person, this character, this role and that for me is always my go to when I need to reset or recenter in life or work. SM : Do you remember your first audition? KM : I do. It was a theater audition, and I was auditioning to be a dancer to a comedy theater show and I had no idea of what I was doing because I’ve never auditioned fo anything before in my life and I barely knew what I was supposed to prepare, or bring or do or say and I just sort of did what I was told to and really had fun. And I think that was my biggest step away. That’s your job, you have those ten minutes, and if you have the job, great, and if you don’t, then it wasn’t meant to be and it’s time to move on to the next one. SM : Do you have a show or movie that you’d like to play in? KM : Oh godness, I have countless *laughs*. I can send you a long list of them but you know most of the things I look for are projects that are challenging and projects that will force me to grow or bring something new, rather it’s a new skill or a new way of thinking about things or type of character that I’ve never played before, or if there’s an element in it that is a little intimidating, then I find that these are the most exciting projects and that’s the most important thing as a creative. It’s to keep pushing beyond what you think your limits are, to try and grow and change. --KM : To finish, I want to say a huge thank you not only to you but to the fans for all the years of support and love and conversations. I’ve had nothing but a wonderful positive experience with all of the fandoms and everyone who’s giving me feedback and who’s been there through the years, it’s outstanding to me that people connect with the stories I tell, and I’m extremely humble for that, and extremely grateful for it, and I hope to continue doing it for the rest of my life.

MY SONG OF THE MOMENT
This song reminds me of my Bestfriend, because we play it in the car all the time, it’s SPEED DRIVE from the BARBIE soundtrack.
MY FAVORITE MOVIE, TV SHOW & BOOK
My favorite movie is probably GILDA with Rita Hayworth from 1946. For the tv show, let’s say SUCCESSION, because that’s the first thing I thought of. And for the book, WATERSHIP DOW was my favorite book when I was a kid, but recently I’ve been really getting into the A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES series.
3 ITEMS I’D TAKE ON A DESERT ISLAND A sac of potatoes, a good book, and suncream.
MY DREAM DESTINATION
Oh god, everywhere ? Everywhere I haven’t been. No, I’ve always wanted to explore more of Asia, I haven’t spend much time there. I’ve been to South Korea once, but I’ve always wanted to go to Japan, Indonesia…
MY FAVORITE SOCIAL MEDIA
I use Instagram a lot, certainly because it’s easy to catch with family and friends and fans. I try to stay on the positive side of social media. But i love finding new recipes and different DIY ideas, but TikTok has become such a huge thing for that too, but I’m still learning, I’m a kind of a grandma when it comes to TikTok, I need someone to teach me.
MY FAVORITE QUOTE

Halloween
and the pop culture by Diane Marchetti
“Halloween is the one night a year when girls can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it” – Mean Girl Halloween is the night of the year that everyone waits for, the night of dreams, the one where we can be whoever we want. Very popular, particularly in the United States where this festival is a real institution. But what would this party be without a good dose of pop culture? If many series broadcast special Halloween episodes like Euphoria (S1 ep6), Friends (S8-ep6) or even Stranger things (S2-ep2). For others it becomes a perfect institution or moments of iconic pop culture. We particularly remember the scene between Damon and Elena on Feel So Close by Calvin Harris or the horrific episodes of Pretty Little Liars that we waited for every year. Some others are also very popular during this period, such as Chilling Adventure of Sabrina, Wednesday, Scream Queens and American Horror Story. But series are not the only things to inspire us during this period, films too. What would Halloween be without watching a good Tim Burton like The Nightmare Before Christmas, as relevant for the period of the dead as for the end of year celebrations.
19
A horror film also always makes us shiver like a film conjuring up another Scream. However Halloween is not just limited to horror because as the movie Mean Girl told us “Halloween is the one night a year when girls can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it”. So we can find the strongest moments of the year inspired by our stars and our favorite films. This year, the most requested costume is that of Margot Robbie in the film Barbie, but we also noted that those of Mario from the film were also very popular. In addition, we can also notice that some moments of our favorite celebrities are also imitated for Halloween as is the case for Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin. So, everyone is waiting for this moment to be able to dress up in the most extravagant way possible, including our favorite stars. We can for example note the efforts of the trio Madelaine Petsch, Camila Mendes and Lili Reinhart who each year make us magnificent trio costumes like Powerpuff Girls, Scooby Doo or Hocus Pocus. Blake Lively and Taylor Swift’s Halloween party or even Vanessa Hudgens’ Instagram account changes every year for this party. Whether you are a fan of horror, films, series or even costumes, pop culture inspires us in various ways during this party.

Interview by Cerena Hammana
SATURNE MAGAZINE : How did you become interested in photography, and what inspired you to pursue it a career? AMANDA PEIXOTO-ELKINS : The first time I remember seeing a camera and feeling quite mesmerized by it was at 6 years old. My dad had an Olympus 35mm film camera, which I now own, and was taking photos of my baby sister while she crawled around. Fast forward a few years, I started doing modeling and I distinctively remember often having questions for the photographers about their process or how they would use their equipment. In my teen years, I was the annoying friend always with a camera in hand, capturing everything! But it wasn’t until the birth of my kids, specifically my daughter, that I started treating photography as more than a hobby. I found something I was good at and could turn into a career, and with that became a role model to my kids. SM : Can you describe your preferred photography style or genre? What draws you to it? APE : Portrait photography is where I identify myself best. I’m drawn to people and enjoy getting to know what makes them who they are. It’s particularly exciting when I get to work with someone I’ve never met before. When we first get to set there’s that initial awkward vibe which is very natural. But there’s always a moment, at one point or another during the shoot, when we click and all of the sudden it feels like we have been friends for a very long time. I love that! Landscape photography also holds a piece of my heart. I’m an adventurer, a gypsy, a wanderluster! Over the past few years, I have done quite a bit of traveling and of course, I always have my camera with me. I have slept in my car in the middle of the desert after hours of capturing the stars and the Milky Way, and then woke up before the sun to see it rise. I’ve taken some great beach photos in Brazil, and some lovely cityscapes in a few European cities. I’m definitely not an expert landscape photographer, but it’s something I enjoy and will most likely continue doing whenever possible! If curious, check out my @thegreyelk instagram or my website (under personal) SM : How do you approach a new photography project or subject? What’s your creative process like? APE : It really depends on the project. Every shoot is different. If it’s a new talent, for example, I like to know what they are promoting, what’s their initial thoughts for the shoot, do we already have a location and team, how much time do we have set aside for it, etc. From there, we start developing a mood board, doing location scouting (if necessary), chats with the stylist, and reps. My favorite way to shoot though is one-on-one. When I’m given the opportunity to spend time with my subjects alone (or almost alone) I get to unveil who they are and truly capture them!
24
SM : Could you share an anecdote about a memorable or challenging photography experience you’ve had? APE : In over 15 years of doing photography, there have been quite a few. So let’s see... We moved to Houston, Texas, for 2 years. While I was living there, I got hired to photograph actor Jared Harris in Los Angeles for a magazine cover. It was the first time I set up a whole shoot through my computer and phone. As a perfectionist, that was stressful! The location was booked only by looking at photos and message communications, wardrobe was also only discussed by phone. Let’s just say I didn’t sleep much on the days prior. There was so much on my mind! I flew in late at night the day before the shoot, arrived on set super early the next day, and we shot for a few hours. From set, I headed straight to the airport, where I photographed my friend and talented actor, Ronen Rubinstein. We had 2 hours to kill before my flight and a fantastic impromptu location to explore! There was no team, no special set ups, just me and my camera looking for some great available light to capture Ro. And I am so proud of those photos! Also, a few years back, Tokina USA contacted me with an exciting opportunity to be the first US portrait photographer to test out their new 50mm f/1.4 opera lens. That was such an exciting experience that led me to become one of the brand’s ambassadors. You can read more about the “test-drive” here: https://tokinausa.com/blogs/ news/test-drive-with-celebrity-portrait-photographer-br-amanda-peixoto-elkins . SM : Do you have any favorite photographers or artists who have influenced your work? APE : I have quite a few masters of portraiture that I admire (and own many of their coee table books). Annie Leibovitz, Mario Testino, Peggy Sirota, Je Lipsky... I am a huge fan of Patrick Demarchelier too, but I think he was mostly known for his work in fashion. These are some of the people I admire for their approach, and brilliant way to bring the best in their subjects. SM : How do you stay inspired and motivated in your photography? What do you do when you encounter creative blocks? APE : As a creative person, I guess my brain is wired to see things and extract some sort of creative idea from them. I can’t exactly explain it, but that’s how it is. It does happen sometimes that I am not feeling particularly engaged, and I need a day or 2 to get my head back in place. The beach is always where I find myself again! There’s something about putting my toes in the water that brings me right back to reality. It may be the freezing cold water of the Pacific... who knows!
25
26
27
SM : What are your favorite subjects to photograph, and why? APE : I have had the pleasure of photographing some incredible people in my career, and loved each and every experience because they helped get me to where I am today. But as far as favorite people to photograph... It would be my kids. I just find them fascinating! SM : What would be your dream location/city? APE : PARIS!!!! Last Fall, I was hired to cover an artist, Peri Gutierrez, who was showing her work at the Louvre Museum. I was there for 10 days, but only worked 5 of those days. It was great that I had the opportunity to explore the city on my days off, but at every corner, I found myself wishing I had a subject with me to photograph. Paris is so inspiring and on my next visit I will, FOR SURE, be photographing someone there! SM : Can you share a bit about your post-processing and editing workflow? What role does editing play in your photography? APE : That is definitely a question I get a lot! Ok, let me walk through it. I should have already found someone that I trust to edit my images for me, but I find that it’s such a big part of my work that I choose to do it myself. It may change one day, but for now this is how it is. I get home from a shoot and upload the new shots to my computer and to an external hard drive, so the images are backed up. I also keep the card where they were saved separate until the shoot is complete. On the next day, I go through the culling process. I must have a movie playing during this time (usually something I have watched before so I am not focusing too much on it). I’m weird, I know! Then, I add my watermark to any images that will be sent out for approvals. Once I receive the chosen images, they go into Lightroom and I apply my signature presets. I created those to help me expedite my process. Sometimes they go into photoshop, sometimes they don’t. It depends. I don’t usually do too much, I try to get the shots perfect in camera. SM : What’s your favorite piece of work, and what makes it special to you? APE : How do I choose? I have all these photos that popped in my head as I read this question. humm... In 2019, I visited a few countries in Europe with my son, who was 17 at the time. I am a big fan of the movie “Before Sunrise” (“Before Sunset” and “Before Midnight”, too, of course!). So while in Vienna, I wanted to visit the movie locations. One of which was the Zollamtssteg and the Zollamtsbrücke bridges. I took a photo of them that I love so much and that remind me of such a lovely trip with one of my favorite people on earth! It was cool that when I posted the photo on my instagram, Ethan Hawke liked it. haha
28
SM : Are there specific locations or settings that you find particularly inspiring or photogenic? APE : The beach!! At any time of the day. SM : How has the photography industry evolved over the years, and how do you adapt to changes in technology and trends? APE : From film photography to digital, now drones and AI... It has certainly evolved a lot! Technology is taking over more and more each day. I am cautiously observing, trying to learn a few new skills and being open to change when necessary. I’m an old dog, in a sea of puppies... it’ll take me a minute! There’s one thing I am still struggling with, which is adapting to using social networks properly. I am really not good at it or care too much about it, if I am being completely honest. SM : Can you talk about the role of storytelling in your photography? How do you aim to convey messages or emotions through your work? APE : Storytelling is about connecting with the viewer on an emotional level, inviting them to experience the world as I see it through my lens. A big part of that comes from communication with my subject, the help of the right lighting, timing, composition and post- processing. SM : Finally, What advice would you give to aspiring photographers looking to improve their skills and break into the industry? APE : First of all, be yourself. Avoid comparing yourself to others who often have been doing this for a much longer time and already have had time and experience to perfect their craft. Figure out what it is that makes you unique and focus on that. Practice, practice and practice some more! Ask questions, read and watch lots of youtube on things you want to master. Find a photographer that inspire you and ask about mentorships or workshops. I have learned a lot from those in the beginning. And start creating... we all start from somewhere!

Blanks Interview by Lyna Allet
In the ever-evolving landscape of music, artists who possess a unique blend of creativity and versatility stand out as true gems. One such artist who has been making waves with his distinctive sound and boundless talent is Blanks. With a captivating mix of music, video content creation, and a knack for engaging with his audience, Blanks has carved a special place for himself in the world of entertainment. In this revealing interview, Blanks opens up about the inspiration behind his music, captivating us with his remarkable vulnerability and unwavering honesty. Join us as we dive deep into the creative mind of an artist who fearlessly explores the depths of his emotions, delivering music that resonates on a profound level.
SATURNE MAGAZINE :Your real name is Simon de Wit, why did you choose ‘Blanks’ as your moniker? BLANKS : I really wanted a name that would sound international, and Simon de Wit just sounded way too Dutch to me. If you translate it to English it’s Simon The White (which I didn’t really like). But thinking about the word ‘white’ I came to the French word ‘blanc’, and that sparked Blanks, which has a nice international ring to it haha! SM : You are also a songwriter, which song you wrote are you the proudest of? BLANKS : A song of mine I’m really proud of is ‘What You Do To Me’. I usually don’t listen to my songs once they are released, but that song still feels fresh when I listen to it! But last year I also got to be a part of an amazing album by a Belgian artist named Pommelien Thijs, which went number 1 in Belgium! SM : You are currently on tour, you already did some shows but some new ones are on the way. What is the greatest memory you have of the tour yet? BLANKS : The thing that I will remember forever is how every city blows your mind in a different way. For example, I hadn’t played in Vienna or Madrid before, but a ton of people showed up and they literally screamed the lyrics!! That is still so surreal to me, to have people actually show up and know my songs. It is the best!!
34
SM : Your latest single is called ‘Not Scared Anymore’, what does this song mean to you, what were you scared of? BLANKS : I wrote this when I needed a little encouragement to keep doing what I do. Being a creative can be challenging sometimes, and doubt tends to creep in. I wrote this song as an encouragement to myself to keep believing in myself and what I do! And since I wrote the song, a lot of great things have happened! SM : In the song, you talk about losing the weight on your shoulder, what is the weight you’re talking about and, did you manage to lose it, or is it still a work in progress? BLANKS : Great question! I think it is a burden of being to critical/cynical about my own work. I spend a lot of time on social media, which is a blessing and a curse since it allows me to do what I do, but I also see all these other singers and producers have their moment, and then I start to compare myself to them (which is never a good idea). I think it makes you more insecure about what you do, so the things that used to be fun and felt like a breeze all of a sudden start to feel harder. That is the weight on my shoulders. And I think I lost a lot of it, but sometimes I can still feel it a little bit. Work in progress I guess. SM : In 2021, you released your album ‘Nothing Lasts Forever And That’s OK’, looking back, how do you feel about this album? BLANKS : I love it!! I think it was the perfect album for me at that time, and I’m really proud of it. SM : The title of the album seems like an acceptance of the fact that life is constantly changing, whether we want it or not. What song in particular made this title an evidence? BLANKS : Pretty early in the writing process, I learned about this Portuguese word ‘saudade’, which means something along the lines of “an emotional state of melancholic or profoundly nostalgic longing for a beloved yet absent something or someone”. To me, that meant reminiscing on some of my favorite memories. In a lot of the songs I describe this moment of ecstasy, falling in love, or having the best time, or something along the lines of that, but for me ‘Chasing After Memories’ really was the song that talked about this specific feeling.
35
36
37
SM : In your song ‘OK To Cry’, you say the lyric ‘Happiness is quite absurd’, can you explain more the meaning behind the lyrics? BLANKS : The day I wrote that song, I cried in the car driving to the session. I’m not even sure why, I think I just heard a beautiful song or something? But I remember feeling much better, happier, after crying. That inspired that line. Happiness is, in fact, quite absurd. SM : What would you say to the Simon who wrote and made this album two years ago? BLANKS : I’m proud of you!! SM : Based on your single ‘Not Afraid Anymore’, can we expect your next EP/ Album to be less melancholic and more hopeful? BLANKS : Yes! This new EP is all about change, moving in a new direction and embracing it. Most songs are uplifting and encouraging. (but there is also a beautifully sad song on there that is one of my favorite songs I have ever written). SM : What is the best compliment you ever received on your music? BLANKS : Your music helped me through some hard times. Or that my music is the soundtrack to someone’s memories. I have songs like that for me, and these will be special forever. It is just crazy to think people out there have that with my songs.

Discovering Madrid A Journey Through Spain’s Enchanting Capital by Cerena Hammana
I’ve visited Madrid for the first time this summer, and I just fell in love with this city. Madrid, the vibrant capital of Spain, is a city that seamlessly marries tradition and modernity. With its rich history, stunning architecture, world-class museums, and a bustling culinary scene, Madrid is a destination that offers a myriad of experiences for travelers. In this article, I’ll take you on a tour of some of the must-see attractions and hidden gems in this enchanting European capital. The Royal Palace (Palacio Real) Your journey in Madrid should ideally begin with a visit to the Palacio Real, the official residence of the Spanish royal family. This magnificent palace, with over 3,000 rooms, is a splendid example of Baroque architecture. Stroll through its opulent rooms, including the grand Throne Room and the Royal Pharmacy. The palace is surrounded by beautiful gardens, and the nearby Almudena Cathedral is a stunning example of neo-Gothic architecture. El Retiro Park (Parque del Buen Retiro) For a serene escape from the bustling city, head to El Retiro Park. This sprawling green oasis offers a tranquil setting with tree-lined paths, ornate fountains, and a shimmering lake where you can rent rowboats. The park is also home to the Crystal Palace, an iconic glass and iron structure that hosts art exhibitions. El Retiro Park is an ideal spot for a leisurely picnic, a relaxing afternoon, or a peaceful retreat from the urban hustle. The Prado Museum (Museo del Prado) Art enthusiasts will find themselves in paradise at the Prado Museum, one of the world’s most renowned art galleries. The museum houses an extensive collection of European art, featuring works by masters like Goya, Velázquez, El Bosco, and many others. Don’t miss Goya’s «La Maja Desnuda» or Velázquez’s «Las Meninas,» two of the museum’s most famous masterpieces. Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor These two iconic squares are at the heart of Madrid and offer a glimpse of the city’s lively atmosphere. Puerta del Sol is known for its famous «Kilometer Zero» marker, marking the center of Spain’s radial road network. It’s also where you’ll find the iconic clock tower and numerous shops, restaurants, and lively street performers. Nearby, Plaza Mayor is a historical square surrounded by stunning architecture, including the Casa de la Panadería with its intricate frescoes. The square hosts various events and markets throughout the year, making it a dynamic and photogenic location.
39
Temple of Debod (Templo de Debod) A unique attraction in Madrid is the Temple of Debod, an ancient Egyptian temple that was gifted to Spain in 1968. It’s been quite some time since I became a devoted admirer of the talented singer, Claire Rosinkranz. Her music, from ‘Frankenstein’ to ‘Backyard Boy’ has been on constant repeat. Last October, she unveiled her highly anticipated album, ‘Just Because’. This album delves into the journey of navigating life, essentially a coming-ofage story for the passionate 19-year-old artist. Claire’s early years were steeped in art, particularly music. «I grew up around music constantly», she reminisces. Her father, involved in music production and composition, also played the violin. Remarkably, Claire wrote her first song at the tender age of eight. These early musical memories reveal that Claire’s destiny as a musician was evident from a young age. However, Claire’s talents extend beyond her captivating singing; she’s also a gifted songwriter. Songwriting, for her, is her «favorite part of the entire ordeal». It’s a medium for her to express her feelings and emotions. She reveals, «I have to be creating. I went a week without creating one time and I was so depressed. And then I got to the studio and I felt instantly better because I was able to unload all this stuff.» ‘Just Because’ is a melting pot of the emotions Claire was experiencing during its creation. This album is an ode to living life to the fullest. Claire acknowledges that, «In this last album, I was going through some…shit», but she uses the upbeat production to counterbalance the darker themes she explores. She shares, «I use the lighter side of production and sonics to lift me out of more challenging moments». She describes her album as a personal diary. Claire revels in experiencing the full spectrum of human emotions, embracing both joy and pain. She willingly places herself in situations, even if they may not be ideal, just to feel the full range of human emotions. Her music reflects her commitment to living life to the fullest. As she puts it, «I love to feel and experience a lot. I love to put myself in situations that may not be the best for me because I just want to feel it all the sadness, the happiness, the pain. I put myself in situations where I get to feel fully alive and conscious». Claire is a raw, unfiltered artist who poured her heart and soul into ‘Just Because’. This sincerity shines through, particularly in the lyrics of ‘Banksy’: «Put me under water, so I can close my eyes. Try to catch a break, but I still want to be alive. I want to tell the story, but the story’s hard to find when you’re lying on the floor surrounded by your mind». With her golden voice and candid storytelling, Claire Rosinkranz is destined to win hearts worldwide. Her humility, genuine nature, and exceptional songwriting abilities promise an exciting and authentic journey ahead. Music enthusiasts eagerly await her next artistic chapter.

Skincare the basics for a beautiful skin by Lyna Allet
With the amount of skincare products on the market, it’s easy to get lost. But here, I’m going to give you the few basics that are essential in our everyday routine that will make a real difference and my favorites that I use everyday. CLEANSER : A cleanser is an essential component of a skincare routine. Cleansers are designed to remove dirt, oil, makeup, and impurities that accumulate on the skin’s surface. Throughout the day, the skin is exposed to pollutants, bacteria… A Cleanser helps to effectively clean and refresh the skin. Shop : Renewing SA Cleanser - CeraVe SERUM : Serums are designed to address specific skincare concerns. Whether you’re looking to combat signs of aging, improve hydration, reduce hyperpigmentation, or address acne, there’s likely a serum formulated to target your particular needs. Depending on your skin need, your serum will change. For example, I have very dry skin. So, I’ll need some hyaluronic acid to help retain the water on my skin. But if you have oily skin your need are not the same. Shop : Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5- The Ordinary MOISTURIZER : A moisturizer is everything. The main purpose of a moisturizer is to hydrate the skin. It helps to maintain and replenish the skin’s moisture levels, keeping it soft, smooth.

Proper hydration is crucial for skin health. Proper hydration supports overall skin health. It helps maintain the skin’s natural functions, including its ability to repair itself and defend against infections. I hated moisturizing when I was younger because I hated the texture of the moisturizer, I found it too ‘creamy’. For me, my favorite moisturizer is ‘water-like’. It helps my skin to be more hydrated and with a texture that doesn’t ick me. Shop : HYDRAPHASE HA LIGHT HYALURONIC ACID FACE MOISTURIZERLa Roche Posay SPF : SPF is crucial for several reasons. It plays a significant role in maintaining healthy skin and preventing various skin-related issues. SPF helps protect against both, reducing the risk of sunburn, skin damage, and skin cancer. The SPF quickly became a staple in our routine for those major points and this is why it’s the most important thing to own beside a moisturizer. Shop : ANTHELIOS HYDRATING SUNSCREEN SPF30 - La Roche Posay MASK : Face masks are a valuable addition to a skincare routine, offering several benefits and fulfilling specific needs for the skin. I’ a little bit cheating on that one because you don’t necessarily need them but, they can help your skin in various ways. Like my moisturizer, I have a thing against the texture.
I absolutely hate peel-off masks because I don’t see the effects on the skin. So, the water-like texture is back on board. It helps with moisture and leave a good refreshing feeling after the application. Shop : YUZU-C Beauty Sleeping MaskShiseido In conclusion, skincare is not just a beauty regimen; it’s a fundamental aspect of selfcare and overall health. Your skin is the body’s largest organ and acts as a protective shield against the external environment. By prioritizing skincare, you’re not only enhancing your appearance but also maintaining the skin’s health and functionality.
Remember that everyone’s skin is unique, and it’s essential to tailor your skincare routine to your individual needs and skin type. Consulting with a dermatologist or skincare professional can provide valuable insights into the best products and practices for your skin. Lastly, consistency is key. Skincare is a long-term commitment, and the results of a well-maintained routine often become evident over time. By investing in your skin and making it a priority, you can enjoy a healthy, radiant complexion and maintain your skin’s well-being for years to come. So, embrace the art of skincare, and let it be your daily ritual for self-love and self-care.

SATURNE MAGAZINE : Can you introduce yourself for people who may not know you? ALEX PASTRANA : My name is Alex Pastrana, I’m an actor. I was born in Venezuela and I moved to Spain when I was a little kid. I was on the last season of “Elite” and also in another Netflix TV show called “Bienvenidos a Eden”, and a movie so far. I just love acting, it’s my passion and what I study. And I hope I can continue to work in this industry! SM : What made you want to become an actor ? Was it a passion since childhood? AP : Actually it’s something that came very late. When I was a kid, thanks to mom I did this publicity stuff like spot for TV with my brother and also family movies when we were on holiday. But the thing is that I never thought of becoming an actor and I didn’t even know how to be an actor. I was in an engineering school and it’s when I finished, I had more control into my life, that I met some actors. So I learned about acting schools and that it was a thing I could study, so I joined an acting school just to try and I just loved it. I enjoyed every seconds. SM : Do you remember your first audition? AP : I do! It was for a movie during my second year of acting school and it didn’t work out. But I was super excited because you know, having a manager is a huge step for any actors especially for a Spanish one, so I was lucky to have an agent and also a face to face audition. Most of auditions for TV commercials, there is a long queue with so many people and the produceur just says “next”. When you have a face to face audition they already heard and talked about you, they can consider you for a role. You just feel closer to them. SM : Can you tell us the difference between the process of being cast in “Elite” and “Bienvenidos a Eden” ? AP : The main difference is that “Bienvenidos a Eden” was my first role ever because before that I only did theater. So the mindest was very different, I wanted this role so bad because I just wanted to be a part of this industry. In “Elite”, it was different because it was one of my main goal since I was in school, because we all saw the whole success and I loved the show. But I already did something for Netflix and I was a part of this industry so I was a little bit more calm. But the process was pretty similar. First it was a selftape and a face to face audition. For “Elite” they were so many, every time, my manager told me : “GOOD NEWS” and I asked super excited “ IM IN ???” and he said to me “no, they want to see you again”. It was so long.
54
SM : Your character died at the end of season 1 in “Bienvenidos a Eden”. Would you have liked to see him in season 2 and what storyline would you have liked to have? AP : I would have loved to be alive in season 2, because even if it’s a bad guy and a mean guy I would have loved to see an other part of him. You know, that would have been very interesting to see him getting a romantic interest. Because it’s the opposite of what he does in the first season. It would have been nice to see his abilities to fall in love. SM : Unfortunately, the season 3 of “Bienvenidos a Eden” has been canceled by Netflix. Do you know the end of the show? If not, what would be the ending that you would want to see? AP : Actually I don’t and I don’t know if anybody in the casting knows about it, probably only the creators. But it’s getting crazier and crazier with its stories of planets and aliens and stuff. At some point it reminds me of this amazing TV show that I loved “Lost”. I would love to see something like that with more people from outside. There are so many possibilities. SM : You joined “Elite” rather late, would you have liked to join the series before? And in what character, unless you would have preferred to play the same ? AP : Yes of course, I would have loved to join “Elite” earlier, it was one of my goals. I tried so much to have an audition for it and it wasn’t easy. I always loved the character of Itzian Escamilla, Samuel, because he was in the middle of everything. I also love Guzman, he was probably my favorite character and Miguel did a wonderful job interpreting him. I If I had been in season 3, I would have been with my friend Sergio Momo that I know from “Bienvenidos a Eden”. And I’m sure that we would have had a lot of fun together. SM : Spanish cinema is increasingly starting to become more and more popular, particularly thanks to Netflix. For you, what’s the key to this success? AP : I think that we have very good professional teams in the areas, we have amazing actors, schools, where people are very devoted to the craft. That something I saw. We also have amazing writers, every department are amazing actually, like makeup artists, hairstylists, production teams, art teams. We are very hardworking, and people are very talented. Also, we always did some great movies but the massive success of “La Casa de Papel” gave us recognition and a massive spotlight. So more and more people are interested about what is coming next. SM : You often play villains, what kind of character would you like to play next ? AP : You know sometime I’m a little bit pissed off to always play the villain but at the same time I don’t really have a problem with it. I was scared before the release of “Elite” because it was going to be huge and lot of people were going to see it, but I’m not scared anymore and I think sometimes it’s more fun, sometimes it’s more difficult to go to darker and darker. We have coaches and stuff to really understand the reality because it’s so far away from things that I know. I mean, thank god I’m not familiar with evil persons in my real life, so when you go to portrait them you must understand how their head work. I would like to play a villain but one step futher, like complex villain, for example the TV Show “Monster” by Ryan Murphy, the character of Evan Peters (Jeffrey Dahmer). But also, I would do a strong lead but not a real villain like the character of Natalie Portman in “Black Swan”.

The Silver Screen’s Fashion Stars
A Closer Look at Fashion in Cinema by Cerena Hammana
Fashion and film have a long and intricate relationship, with each influencing and enhancing the other. From glamorous red carpet events to on-screen wardrobes that define characters, the world of cinema and fashion are inextricably linked. In this article, we will delve into the captivating world of fashion in cinema and explore how it shapes storytelling, captures time periods, and influences real-life style. The Power of Costume Design Costume designers play a pivotal role in bringing characters to life on the silver screen. They collaborate with directors, actors, and production designers to create costumes that not only fit the characters but also help tell their stories. The art of costume design has received well-deserved recognition, with awards like the Academy Award for Best Costume Design. Iconic costume designers like Edith Head, whose work on classics like «Breakfast at Tiffany’s» and «Roman Holiday» defined Audrey Hepburn’s timeless style, or Colleen Atwood, who crafted the whimsical costumes for Johnny Depp’s Mad Hatter in «Alice in Wonderland,» have left a lasting impact on both fashion and cinema. Time-Traveling Through Wardrobes One of the most captivating aspects of fashion in cinema is its ability to transport audiences to different time periods. Films like «The Great Gatsby» take us back to the roaring 1920s with flapper dresses and sharp suits, while «The Queen’s Gambit» immerses us in the elegant fashions of the 1960s. Costumes serve as a visual storytelling tool, conveying the societal norms, values, and aspirations of the era in which the film is set. Fashion as Character Development In cinema, costumes can be used to convey character development and growth. A prime example is «The Devil Wears Prada,» where the transformation of the protagonist, Andy Sachs, from a fashion novice into a confident, high-fashion professional is mirrored in her changing wardrobe. Her fashion journey parallels her character arc, providing a visual narrative of her evolution.

Screen’s Stars
Real-World Impact The influence of fashion in cinema often extends beyond the screen and into real life. Iconic film costumes can inspire fashion trends and consumer choices. For instance, Audrey Hepburn’s «little black dress» in «Breakfast at Tiffany’s» became a timeless classic, while the preppy styles in «Clueless» led to a resurgence of schoolgirl-inspired fashion. Additionally, films and characters often serve as muses for fashion designers. For instance, the Bond franchise has influenced numerous high-end brands, and the stunning gowns in Baz Luhrmann’s «The Great Gatsby» have had a lasting impact on red carpet fashion. The Art of Red Carpet Fashion Fashion in cinema is not confined to the screen; it also plays a significant role in the glamour of red carpet events. Celebrities, with the help of stylists, use these opportunities to make bold fashion statements, donning haute couture gowns, tailored suits, and accessories from renowned designers. The Oscars, Cannes Film Festival, and the Met Gala have all become showcases for the intersection of cinema and fashion, where the world watches in anticipation of the latest sartorial triumphs. Fashion in cinema is a dynamic and multifaceted phenomenon that goes far beyond the superficial. It is an essential part of storytelling, time-traveling, character development, and real-world influence. The intricate relationship between fashion and film continues to captivate audiences and spark new trends, making it a source of inspiration for both creators and consumers alike. In the world of cinema, fashion is not just an afterthought; it is a star in its own right.

Interview by Lyna Allet Photography by Lili Skyler
SATURNE MAGAZINE : You grew up in a very musical family; how has it influenced your music career? KYLA DIVENERE : I’ve been involved with music for as long as I can remember, I just didn’t think of it as a career until later on. My dad was a drummer as a teen and played in a rock band, so he introduced me to the classic rock records that had inspired him. He always made it such a point to show the power of music, and how beautiful it is to play an instrument and be able to express yourself through song. He randomly brought home a piano when I was really little and I’ve been hooked on making music since then! SM : You recently released your hit song «Date Myself.» Can you walk us through the process of the songwriting and the inspiration behind it? KD : I was ranting to my mom about all the horrible dates I’ve been on and blurted out, “I kinda wanna date myself.” I knew from the moment I said that phrase out loud that it could be turned into an anthem for everyone going through the endless treacherous dating cycle of constantly being let down. Writing «Date Myself» reminded me of how beautiful it is to spend time by yourself and how important it is to be comfortable owning your self love and high standards. Being able to hear it back after writing it and to scream it at the top of my lungs has comforted me more than any guy has, and I hope it can comfort people too in any way they can relate to it. SM : The single is an ode to putting yourself first and knowing your worth before going into relationships. Since you released that single, I can guess that you went through many dates with yourself. Have you learned more about yourself since? KD : To be honest, I’m in a constant journey of getting to know myself better, and I don’t think that will ever stop. I keep on growing, evolving, changing, and becoming new versions of myself. It’s hard to keep up, but it’s a beautiful thing. SM : Can you share some advice that you have learned over the course of your self-discovery? KD : Someone once told me «you did best for what you knew at the time,” and it’s something that has stuck with me ever since. I tend to be really hard on myself about making mistakes, but I try to remind myself that I’ve never lived this life before and everything I experience, I’m experiencing for the first time. I’m starting to learn how to be gentle with myself.
66
SM : You also recently released one of my favorite songs of yours, «Jumping The Gun.» What can you tell us about the inspiration behind the song? KD : I wrote “Jumping the Gun” after meeting someone in a queue. It only lasted 2 minutes and we probably only said 5 words to each other but I couldn’t stop thinking about him the whole night. I was telling my friends that I don’t know why I always «jump the gun» and picture a whole future with whoever I just meet. I knew there was something special in that, so when I went to the studio a week later, “Jumping the Gun” was born! SM : Does being an actress inspire the way you write music and does being a singer-songwriter influence your game in front of a camera? KD : I really do think they both go very hand in hand... they have both taught me so much about vulnerability and how to use it as a weapon instead of being afraid of it. SM : You are also an actress who has performed in shows like ‘Love, Victor’ and ‘Law and Order, among other shows. What is your favorite thing to do when you’re on set? KD : I love eating food on set, haha! Set food is always insanely good! It’s one of the things that I look forward to most when I’m filming! SM : Can we expect more music on the way ? KD : Yes!!! I’m releasing an acoustic version of ‘Date Myself’ really soon, which I’m super excited about. It shows a very different side to the song and I think it’s so cool to have the two contrasting versions. I’m also going to be releasing so much new music in the new year, so stay tuned! SM : Is there any goal that you had at the beginning of the year that you’ve accomplished? KD : Honestly, I just wanted to release music that feels true, and I definitely achieved that this year. It makes me feel really fulfilled! SM : What have you learned during your teenage years and what are you eager to learn through young adulthood? KD : Oh god... I’ve learned so much during my teen years. I’ve made so many mistakes, and I’ve experienced so much betrayal and heartbreak, but the biggest thing I learnt is that change is the only thing that’s constant in life and to give up the need to want everything to stay the same. I have absolutely no idea what’s in store for me as I enter adulthood, but I hope it’s awesome!
