2013 Audi q5

2013 lincoln mkz

Attractive, efficient, sporty

lincoln’s future begins now

porty, spacious, comfortable and multifunctional – the Audi Q5 has a versatile and successful character. Now the midclass SUV is even more attractive, efficient and sporty – adding many new solutions in design, infotainment, chassis and engines. The Q5 hybrid quattro, the brand’s first production hybrid model, unites the power of a V6 with the fuel economy of a four cylinder.

EnginEs

Audi is launching its updated Q5 worldwide with five engine options: three TDI and two TFSI engines. All of these engines combine direct fuel injection with charging, and a start-stop system is standard in all versions. Although most of the engines have enhanced performance, their fuel consumption values were reduced by up to 15 percent. The gasoline engines of the updated Audi Q5 feature stateof-the-art technology. A highlight of the TFSI engine line-up is the new two-liter, four-cylinder engine that has numerous innovations such as in the control of valves and their stroke, innovative thermal management, the fuel injection system, turbocharger and integration of the exhaust manifold in the cylinder head. The new 2.0 TFSI outputs 225 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Producing even more power is the new 3.0 TFSI – the three-liter V6 with supercharging, which replaces the 3.2-liter engine. This

The 2013 Audi Q5 blends impressive German performance and precise engineering with gorgeous style. engine outputs 272 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque.

REfinEmEnt

The chassis of the Audi Q5 – with its five-link front suspension and trapezoidal-link rear suspension – adds new refinement and comfort in the characteristics of the springs, shock absorbers and stabilizers. The new electromechanical power steering system gives the driver a better feel for the road with direct gearing. The system – which adjusts its power assist to vehicle speed –

does not consume any energy in straight-line driving, reducing fuel consumption. Another high-end feature in the Audi Q5 is the Audi drive select system. It lets the driver vary the characteristic of the accelerator pedal, the shift points of the automatic transmission, amount of power steering assist and operation of the automatic air conditioning system via four modes, including an efficiency mode. When an Audi navigation system is ordered, a fifth mode is added that is largely userprogrammable.

The Audi Q5 also performs very well on rugged terrain. Its maximum climbing angle is 31 degrees. The vehicle’s approach and departure angles are each 25 degrees, while its ramp angle is 17 degrees.

styling

The Audi Q5 is progressive and sporty, spacious and functional. Its styling, with a coupe-like roof line and wrap-around tailgate, visualizes all of these properties – and it is now acquiring distinctive new traits. The interior design of

he all-new Lincoln MKZ makes its debut recently, marking a key milestone in Lincoln’s reinvention. “The new Lincoln MKZ represents the future of Lincoln in both style and substance, said Jim Farley, Group Vice President, Global Marketing, Sales and Service. “It is proof of our commitment to deliver a new breed of Lincolns for a new generation of Lincoln clients – motor cars that are distinctive, elegant, full of technology and a delight to own.

Technology

The interior of the Audi Q5 has made additional strides in refined styling. Many of the user controls have narrow chrome trim; the steering column control stalks, ignition key and instruments were given subtle modifications. The narrow panels of the center console are high-gloss black. All steering wheel versions, including versions with shift paddles, reflect the new Q-specific styling. The ergonomics have also been fine-tuned. The central media component, MMI navigation plus, now has four buttons, and its volume dial has an additional skip function. Other refinements have been made to the controls for the seat heating, the new highly efficient air conditioning system, the Audi drive select system and the multifunction steering wheel.

the headlights has been modified; the LED daytime running lights of the optional xenon plus units are shaped as curved bands that surround the headlights. Audi also offers the optional adaptive light with dynamic cornering light and static turning light. The horizontal lines of the highperformance SUV’s front end are emphasized more strongly. The high-gloss black Singleframe grille has beveled upper edges; its vertical chrome struts and the Audi rings have a sculpted look.

The new Lincoln MKZ offers the Lane Keeping System, a suite of advanced driving aids that helps drivers avoid drifting from their lane due to distraction or fatigue. Consisting of Lane Keeping Aid, Lane Keeping Alert and Driver Assist, the Lane Keeping System utilizes a mono-vision camera integrated into the rearview mirror to read the lane markers ahead. For a more complete description of the Lane Keeping System, click here. Available radar-based (ultrasonic) driving aids further enhance the driving experience. Adaptive Cruise Control and Collision Warning with Brake Support each use a long-range radar system that scans in front of the vehicle, automatically adjusting to traffic speed and providing a visual and audible alert when a potential front-end collision is detected. The result is an unsurpassed combination of refined ride and engaging driving dynamics. CCD offers three modes (Sport/Normal/ Comfort) that are accessible using MyLincoln Touch. Selecting “Sport on the Push Button Shift gear selector enables a decidedly more sporty driving experience. CCD contributes to Lincoln Drive Control’s transparent action by monitoring the car’s suspension settings up to 500 times per second. The real-time system adjusts the suspension up to 50 times per second to deliver more controlled handling with a smoother ride.

The 2013 MKZ represents a sweeping change for the Lincoln brand, bringing new levels of style and performance. shortrange wide-angle radar sensors. Each function provides a distinct benefit, ranging from making parallel parking easier to warning of oncoming vehicles while backing out of a parking space. SYNC with MyLincoln Touch is standard in the new MKZ. The combined system makes it easier to use the entertainment, climate and available navigation features as well as devices brought into the car (e.g., phones, PDA, MP3 players). Twin fiveway controls on the steering wheel manage essential systems, and many functions can be voice-

activated via SYNC. Standard SYNC Services make turn-by-turn directions available via one button push and simple voice commands. Continually improving voice recognition software learns user voices, improving the efficiency of voice commands.

Drive conTrol

The new MKZ offers Lincoln Drive Control as standard. Lincoln Drive Control is an automatic

system that delivers an ideal balance of a smooth ride with confident handling as it intuitively responds to driver commands and the road, making the 2013 model the most refined and engaging MKZ ever. Always on, Lincoln Drive Control orchestrates the performance of the Continuously Controlled Damping (CCD) adjustable suspension, electric power- assisted steering (EPAS), engine, transmission, Active Noise Control (ANC), traction control and stability control systems.

The 2013 Lincoln MKZ offers three distinct powertrains. The standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost delivers the performance of a traditional V6 along with expected segment-leading fuel economy that is at least 3 mpg better than the closest competitor. Emphasizing performance and efficiency, the optional 3.7-liter V6 produces significantly more power than the previous MKZ V6 while improving fuel economy approximately 5 percent. Maximizing fuel efficiency, the optional 2.0-liter four-cylinder hybrid powertrain is expected to enable the 2013 MKZ Hybrid to remain North America’s most fuelefficient premium sedan. The 2012 MKZ Hybrid is rated at 41 city mpg, 36 highway mpg. Non-hybrid models utilize a sixspeed automatic transmission.

ighter and more fuel-efficient, faster and more agile – with an all-new lightweight design body and completely revamped chassis, the latest generation of the Boxster is setting new top scores for Porsche Intelligent Performance. Considerably lower weight, a longer wheelbase, a wider track and larger wheels significantly enhance the mid-engine sports car’s driving dynamics yet further, already far and away the best in its class, supported by the new electro-mechanical power steering. As an additional boost to driving dynamics, Porsche offers the Sport Chrono Package as an optional extra for the Boxster, featuring dynamic transmission mounts for the first time. Also new in the Boxster is Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with mechanical rear axle differential lock. The new Boxsters boast superior performance as well as being up to 15 per cent more fuel-efficient. They boast ultra-modern, direct fuel injection, six-cylinder engine.

Design

Never before in the history of the Porsche Boxster was a change of generation so compre- hensive and so clearly apparent at first glance: The change in proportions is a lasting one. Typical of the enhanced design is the shoulder line, which runs from the strongly upward curving front wing into the rear side section and which also accommodates the exterior mirrors, now in the vicinity of the upper edge of the

Particularly expressive and cha- racteristic is the new dynamic indentation in the door, which guides the intake air to the striking intake in the rear side section: you can see where the roadster’s heart beats.

Power

The Boxster’s mid-engine concept has been a decisive reason for its outstanding agility ever since the roadster has existed. In addition, the flat-six engines with their economical performance, located

forward of the rear axle, make the two-seater Porsche a model of performance and efficiency. The new Boxster models have opened a whole new chapter here. With direct fuel injection, thermal management, electrical system recuperation and auto start/stop function, both models’ engines are even more powerful than before on the one hand while being more than 15 per cent more fuel-efficient irrespective of model on the other hand. The Boxster’s engine has been derived from the Boxster S machine

according to the down- sizing principle and has a displacement of 2.7 litres – 0.2 litres less than its predecessor. Both bore and stroke have been reduced. The Boxster with PDK transmission is borrowing the principle of only drawing on engine power when it is actually needed from the new 911 Carrera: so-called coasting. What is meant by coasting is rolling along without power, with the engine idling and with low fuel consumption to match. The extensively redesigned Porsche PDK, available as an option,

Enhanced performance has also been matched by a more powerful braking system – a given with Porsche. Along with new, stiffer brake callipers on the front axle, optimised brake pad control and a larger brake surface, the brake disc cooling has also been improved. New air deflection vanes on the front and rear axles ensure additional brake ventilation, ensuring good thermal conditions at all times. Moreover, the new Boxster S also boasts larger front axle brake discs, borrowed from the 911 Carrera.

The new Boxster models’ convertible top was completely redesigned. The very elongated, sporty, elegant shape is emphasised by a rear window lengthened by 120 millimetres. To reduce the interior noise compared with the predecessor model Porsche is using a special convertible top material with acoustic characteristics .

uick recently introduced the all-new 2013 Encore – a luxury small crossover that delivers Buick’s signature style, interior acoustic refinement and collection of luxury amenities in a maneuverable, versatile and efficient package. The Encore is on display at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit through Jan. 22, and goes on sale in early 2013. “Buick Encore is a great-looking, smart choice for those who want luxury crossover amenities in a more maneuverable and agile vehicle, said Tony DiSalle, U.S. vice president of Buick Marketing. “It represents a luxury alternative for a new audience of Buick customers, and delivers features and flexibility not typically found in vehicles of its size today. Buick models continue to gain in popularity, with two consecutive years of higher retail sales. The Encore joins Verano – Buick’s third all-new sedan in three years – to round out the brand’s lineup and continues the momentum established by the Enclave crossover almost five years ago. With room for five and up to 48.4 cubic feet of storage space with the rear seat folded, the Encore offers substantial cargo capacity along with the confident, higher driving position, all-wheel-drive capability and contemporary styling of a crossover. In fact, its cargo space compares favorably against similarsized international competitors.

Quiettuning

QuietTuning is the process of defining Buick quality, sound and vibration characteristics and designing and refining the vehicle following a three-point strategy of reducing sounds at their source, blocking sounds from entering the cabin and absorbing any remaining sounds. For the Encore, specific content was applied to achieve 40 sound benchmarks for refinement, including Buick’s first application of active noise cancellation. With it, ceiling-mounted microphones detect engine noise, the frequencies of which are processed by a computer that directs counteracting sound waves through the audio system’s speakers and subwoofer.

Power

The 2013 Buick Encore is an all-new luxury crossover that sets high standards for performance and efficiency.

Design

In keeping with the global design language that has come to symbolize the brand, the Encore’s sculpted and elegant styling traits – including sweeping character lines – make it instantly identifiable as a contemporary Buick. Signature cues include a waterfall grille, chrome accents and surrounds, portholes on the hood and painted lower panels, similar to the Enclave. “The Encore brings Buick’s timeless, sculptural design to the

crossover segment in a way that blends elegance, efficiency and utility, said David Lyon, executive director of design. “There’s confidence in its athletic stance and elemental beauty in its rich details. Blue-accented projector-beam headlamps and detailed taillamps enhance the premium appearance; and 18-inch, five-spoke painted aluminum wheels are standard. Seven-spoke chrome wheels are available. Inside, the Encore’s organic styling carries over to a flowing

instrument panel that wraps naturally into the door panels. A prominent central instrument panel houses the large, full-color, seven-inch LCD display for the IntelliLink voice-activated radio system. It also features displays for the SiriusXM satellite radio, as well as available navigation and rear camera systems. A contemporary mix of dark and light tones distinguishes the cabin, which is accented with ice blue ambient lighting, select use of bright trim and wood-grain trim.

The Buick Encore is powered by an efficient, power-dense Ecotec 1.4L turbocharged four-cylinder engine and six-speed automatic transmission. It generates an estimated 140 horsepower. The wide rpm range for the maximum torque – a specific trait of turbocharged engines – helps it deliver a better driving experience and performance. The 1.4L’s turbocharger is integrated within the exhaust manifold, for reduced weight and greater packaging flexibility. A reinforced crankshaft and forged connecting rods deliver additional strength.

The redesigned flagship sedan builds on the strong heritage of the Impala nameplate by offering expressive style, a more-refined interior, easy-to-use technology, and what is expected to be an exhilarating driving experience. “The 2014 Impala re-establishes this iconic Chevrolet nameplate as a design leader, with bold styling that will turn heads for years to come, said Mark Reuss, president, GM North America. “The team has also delivered the comfort, safety, fuel efficiency and technology that will strengthen Impala’s leadership in the highly competitive full-size sedan market. The all-new Impala goes on sale in early 2013 as the 10th generation of one of the industry’s most enduring – and popular – nameplates. Impala was America’s best-selling full-size sedan in 2011, with sales of more than 171,000, which also made it one of the 10 best-selling cars overall in the United States, along with Chevrolet Malibu and Cruze. “This all-new Impala delivers on our promise that every new car that wears the Chevrolet bowtie will embody the pioneering spirit that has defined the brand for more than a century. said Chris Perry, vice president, global Chevrolet marketing. “With the striking new design and the right mix of comfort,

Design

The 2014 Impala brings a new aesthetic to Impala that honors the cues that have helped distinguish the classic nameplate for decades. “Our design team was challenged to create a new classic, but that didn’t mean relying on nostalgia,

said John Cafaro, director of North America passenger car exterior design. “This is very much a contemporary car, with design elements, craftsmanship and attention to detail that complement its advanced technology and performance. The Impala’s long, low proportion has a wind-swept profile that suggests motion, while the range of 18-, 19- and 20-inch wheels is tailored to the body to provide that “just right stance.

ats challenges world’s best

a new formula for luxury

he all-new 2013 Cadillac ATS compact luxury sports sedan is the brand’s entry into the world’s most significant luxury car segment and is designed to challenge the world’s best premium cars. Its sophisticated driving experience is enhanced with Cadillac CUE, a comprehensive, invehicle user experience that merges intuitive design with industryfirst controls and commands for information and media data. Developed on an all-new, lightweight rear-drive architecture, the ATS reflects a new expression of Cadillac’s Art & Science execution philosophy, centered on a foundation of driving dynamics and mass efficiency. It is the most agile and lightweight Cadillac, with one of the lowest curb weights in the segment – less than 3,400 pounds. All-wheel drive is available. Germany ’s famed Nürburgring served as one of the key testing grounds, along with additional roads, race tracks and laboratories around the globe, where ATS engineers balanced performance with Cadillac’s trademark refinement. The ATS is offered as a wellequipped standard model and in Luxury, Performance and Premium collections. A broad lineup of engines – including two four-cylinders and a V-6 for North America – delivers strong power to the ATS and capitalizes on the car’s lightweight structure to complement its performance with efficiency. The optional engines include an all-new 2.0L

The all-new Cadillac ATS is designed to challenge the most sophisticated sports sedans in the world. turbocharged four-cylinder rated at 272 horsepower and Cadillac’s award-winning 3.6L V-6, estimated at 321 horses.

Design

The 2013 Cadillac ATS interprets Cadillac’s Art & Science design language in a new proportion, tailoring the signature styling and refinement cues for the most compact Cadillac while upholding – and advancing – the exemplary attention to detail and technological elements for which the brand is

known. A long, 109.3-inch wheelbase and wide front/rear tracks are the cornerstones of the ATS’s firmly planted stance, which is enhanced by short overhangs and taut sheet metal that appears to wrap tightly around the tires. Seventeen-inch wheels are standard and 18-inch wheels are available. Bold vertical lighting elements – including new LED front signature lighting detail – as well as illuminating door handles and active grille shutters lend technologically advanced style

and function to the ATS. The grille shutters close at certain highway speeds to reduce aerodynamic drag and enhance fuel economy. High-intensity discharge headlamps with Adaptive Forward Lighting are available on models with the 2.0L turbo and 3.6L V-6 engines.

interior

A driver-focused interior with integrated technology and crafted materials complements the exterior elements and supports the ATS’s

driving experience. Everything from the placement of the pedals to the position of the shifter is designed for effortless and intuitive performance driving. Available performance seats have poweradjustable bolsters to optimize lateral support during high-load cornering. Contributing to the interior’s intuitive feel is an instrument panel that wraps into the doors and a center stack in the mid-instrument panel that flows into the center console. LED lighting for the bold gauge cluster enables clear, ata-glance viewing in all lighting conditions, while ambient lighting accents functional elements of the console and doors. Real wood, metal plating and carbon fiber trim and Cadillac’s cutand-sew instrument panel, console and doors enhance the emotional connection to the ATS. Choices of many interior color themes, each with unique accent trim material, cover a wide range of flavors – from light, open and warm to black and serious, to bold, technical and sporty.

safety

Safety in the ATS is based on Cadillac’s “control and alert” strategy that employs advanced technologies – including radar, cameras and ultrasonic sensors – to help prevent crashes. The safety features bolster driver vision and awareness of road hazards, and intervenes to help the driver avert potential crashes.

adillac unveiled the 2013 XTS recently, the newest addition to the Cadillac luxury sedan lineup. It arrives in showrooms as the most technologically advanced production car in the brand’s history. Larger than the CTS, the new XTS delivers the space, elegance and dramatic presence that are Cadillac signatures, but with entirely new and technically advanced methods tuned for a new generation of luxury customers. It also marks the debut of CUE, a comprehensive in-vehicle experience that merges intuitive design with auto industryfirst controls and commands for information and media data. In addition to the CUE interface and connectivity, many other advanced technologies are integral to the new XTS. It will be the only luxury sedan with standard Magnetic Ride Control – the world’s fastest-reacting suspension. Advanced technologies that enhance vision are available as well. Positioned directly above the centerpiece CTS family in Cadillac’s revamped lineup, the new XTS features a 3.6L direct injection engine and advanced all-wheel drive system, marking a shift to moreefficient performance in a spacious luxury sedan. “The Cadillac XTS represents a new formula for luxury, driven by advanced technology,” said Don Butler, vice president of Cadillac marketing. “XTS showcases the evolution of our Art & Science philosophy, merging the best technical ideas with the continued refinement of Cadillac design.”

The alerts are designed to identify obstacles with sufficient warning to give the driver time to react and make changes – including the Safety Alert Seat feature, which vibrates either the left or right side of the driver’s seat cushion, depending on the location of the impending concern. The intervening features, including Automatic Collision Preparation, take over if the threat appears more immediate or the driver does not react to previous alerts.

RIde, HandlIng

The 2013 XTS is Cadillac’s new technology leader. It’s spacious, elegant and luxurious.

InnovatIon

Cadillac CUE is the highly customizable user interface that exemplifies XTS’ blend of advanced technology and artistic design. The heart of CUE, which stands for Cadillac User Experience, is the standard eight-inch screen in the “center stack,” the faceplate below the screen and the steering wheel controls. CUE features several industry firsts, including capacitive- touch control with proximity sensing, gesture recognition and natural voice recognition. Available exclusively on the XTS is

the 12.3-inch reconfigurable cluster. It features vibrant graphic displays showcased among four driverselectable themes, ranging from minimal to extensive information. And while it is the prominent element in the XTS’ technological character, CUE is part of a more comprehensive and layered approach to the car’s design, capabilities and performance “The more you look, the more layers you see in XTS,” said Butler. “They aren’t always apparent to the eye, but they build on one another in important ways to reinforce the car’s

strength of design, comfort and driving experience.”

Safety

The XTS’ technology fundamentally supports a suite of advanced safety features, based on a “control and alert” strategy that extends the vision around the vehicle. It helps drivers identify potential crash situations and even intervenes when a crash threat appears more imminent, employing layers of visual, audible and tactile (vibration) alerts, depending on the alert feature.

A layered approach to the driving experience relies on new and established technologies – all rooted in a stiff structure. The body is infused with strategically placed ultra-high-strength steel for strength and crash protection and serves as the foundation for the advanced-chassis system. A smart Haldex all-wheeldrive system – with an electronic limited-slip differential that splits torque between the rear wheels – complements an advanced HiPer Strut front suspension and standard Magnetic Ride Control real-time damping to give the XTS surefooted, confident and comfortable ride and handling traits. A linked H-arm design with “air springs” comprises the rear suspension. HiPer Strut is based on the MacPherson strut front suspension design and features dual-path top mountings that separate the transfer of spring and damper loads to the body structure.

T

he Chevrolet Volt has established an entirely new segment in the global automotive market. It is a fivedoor, four-passenger car designed to provide the fuel-saving and emissions-reducing benefits of an electric vehicle without the range limitations associated with allelectric vehicles. With numerous awards that include prestigious North American Car of the Year and European Car of the Year honors – as well as a loyal and passionate customer base – the innovative Volt is bringing new customers into Chevrolet dealerships. For 2013, Volt offers an e-ATPZEV specification that earns the Volt a coveted “green sticker for single-occupancy HOV lane access in California and New York. Volt also adds a Hold mode that allows owners to direct when the Volt uses its gas generator. This feature helps save money because owners who mix city and highway driving can save the battery charge for city travel, where the Volt’s EV mode operates most efficiently. Other updates for 2013 include a body-color roof and decklid, available lane departure warning system and forward collision alert crash-avoidance technologies, as well as GPS-enabled navigation capabilities to Chevy’s MyLink infotainment system. A new exterior color, Silver Topaz Metallic, and new interior color, Pebble Beige, also join the Volt lineup.

The Spark, Chevrolet’s first mini car for the United States, offers a great combination of efficiency and value.

ElEctric powEr

The heart of the Chevrolet Volt is its Voltec propulsion system, which combines pure electric drive and an efficient, range-extending engine, giving the Volt up to 382 total miles of range. The Volt’s long-life battery consists of a 5.5-foot, 435-pound T-shaped, 16 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It supplies energy to an advanced electric drive unit to propel the vehicle.

Using only the energy stored in the battery, the Volt delivers an EPA-estimated 38 miles of fuel- and tailpipe emissions-free electric driving, depending on terrain, driving techniques and temperature. The Volt battery is covered by an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty. When the battery energy is depleted, the Volt seamlessly transitions to extended-range mode. Power is inverted from a technically advanced, 1.4L 84-hp gasoline-powered onboard engine to the electric drive unit to provide

up to 344 additional miles of range. Charging the Volt’s battery is simple and intuitive, and can be done with a 120V conventional household electrical outlet, or a dedicated 240V charging station. The vehicle is completely rechargeable in about four hours using a 240V outlet and 10 to 16 hours in a 120V outlet (depending on charging level and outside temperature). Once the vehicle is plugged in, owners can schedule either immediate or delayed charges, even coordinating charging according to

Working closely with aerodynamicists in GM’s wind tunnel to shape the Volt, design and engineering teams developed the most aerodynamic vehicle in Chevrolet’s history. By reducing the energy needed to overcome air resistance, Volt aerodynamicists contributed an estimated eight miles of electric range, and 50 miles of extended range. The Volt’s rounded and flush front fascia, tapered corners and grille enable air to move easily around the car to reduce drag. In the rear, sharp edges and a carefully designed spoiler control air flow. A n aggressive rake on the windshield and back glass also help reduce turbulence and drag.

intErior

Inside, the Volt offers the space, comfort, convenience and safety features customers expect in a premium five-door sedan – including storage compartments and 40/40 rear-folding seats. It also delivers them in a variety of interior color, lighting and trim options unlike any offered before on a Chevrolet sedan.

T

he Ford Escape, America’s best-selling SUV, will raise the bar even higher with the debut of an all-new model that features 11 new exclusive features and fuel economy projected to top any vehicle of its kind on the market today. “We call our all-new Ford Escape the ‘Smarter Utility Vehicle’ because it offers the strengths that customers today really value – fuel economy, versatility and new technology that makes driving and living with the vehicle easier and more fun – all wrapped in a sleek, more modern design, said Derrick Kuzak, group vice president, Global Product Development. “Ford understands that more people every year are looking at vehicles like Escape, and we want to give them even more reasons to buy. Sixty percent of Americans shopping for a vehicle next year will look at either a midsize car or small SUV, making Escape part of one of the most cross-shopped and fastest-growing segments in the auto industry.

Performance

Escape offers Ford’s broadest nameplate range of EcoBoost engine choices yet. Strong fuel economy comes from either the available 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine or 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine, which makes its American debut in the new Escape. Both new engines combine EcoBoost’s core technologies of direct fuel injection and

The new Escape’s rear seats have been designed to fold flat easily. With the touch of a button, the head restraint folds down and with the lift of a handle on the seat, the seatback folds and dives as the seat folds flat and clicks into position. Escape also features an available two-position load floor, which can be configured to allow the customer to choose among maximum luggage volume or flat load floor. When properly equipped, the all-new Escape maintains a trailer tow rating of 3,500 pounds.

Ford’s popular Escape has been completely redesigned for 2013, making it a smart choice for many SUV buyers. turbocharging and add twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) to deliver even better miles per gallon and save customers money on fuel. In Escape, EcoBoost engines are mated to specially calibrated, six-speed SelectShift Automatic™ transmissions, which are standard and allow drivers who want more hands-on experiences to manually control gear selection from a switch on the left-hand side of the shifter. The gearbox features a new torque converter for improved driving feel, silky smooth shifts

and even better fuel economy. Engineers also installed revised gear ratios for a balanced driving feel in all situations. The standard engine in North America is an updated 2.5-liter, giving the new Escape a comprehensive lineup of four-cylinder offerings. It also is matched to a SelectShift Automatic six-speed. Also aiding fuel economy is Escape’s sleeker design. The new model is nearly 10 percent more aerodynamic than the outgoing model.

T

he new Volkswagen Passat has created a new standard in the mid-size sedan class and has been an instant hit in the marketplace. Here is a midsize sedan with the space and comfort of many full-size models, offering remarkable, best-in-class, stretch-out rear-seat legroom and trunk space to match. As a result, it has garnered numerous thirdparty awards, including the highly prestigious Motor Trend 2012 Car of the Year. The Passat TDI version—the only clean diesel option in the segment— delivers an EPA-estimated 43 miles per gallon on the highway with the manual transmission, giving a range of almost 800 miles. That’s New York to Chicago, San Francisco to Seattle, on one tank. Acknowledged mileage experts John and Helen Taylor recently set a single-tank long-distance driving record by taking a Passat TDI from Houston, Texas, to Sterling, Virginia—that’s a distance of 1626 miles—on one tank of Clean Diesel fuel. And it is being built in Chattanooga, Tenn., in a plant with a strong commitment to environmental responsibility: this is the only automotive factory in the world to have gained the U.S Green Building Council’s LEED Platinum-certification. One key measure at the plant is the use of a painting process without any filler, which reduces CO2 emissions by about 20 percent. If all that wasn’t impressive enough, the 2013 Passat comes with a starting MSRP of just $20,845

multifunction display. A high-end chrome look is also applied to the air vents in the cockpit, and to the surrounds of the radio, navigation system and the climate control panels. The seats are exceptionally comfortable, with an emphasis on providing extra thigh support for long-distance road trips. Even in the base version, the driver’s seat adjusts eight ways, including lumbar, while most models feature eight-way power adjustment.

The latest Volkswagen Passat has been a major hit for offering full-size comfort in a midsize car. for a five-cylinder model with Bluetooth connectivity, steeringwheel audio controls, and all scheduled maintenance covered under Volkswagen’s no-charge three-year/36,000-mile Carefree Maintenance program.

Styling

The Passat’s balanced proportions give it elegant and timeless styling, reflecting the new Volkswagen Design DNA developed by Walter de Silva, the Italian design chief for the Volkswagen Group, and Klaus

Bischoff, the German design leader for the Volkswagen Brand. The clean design, with a predominance of horizontal body elements, reinforces the Passat’s position as the sophisticated choice in the mid-size segment. The bottom line is that the car looks a lot more expensive than it actually is.

Cabin

The Passat was designed and specifically tailored for American tastes and American lifestyles. So the cabin of the all-new Passat

delivers space, and plenty of it. There’s room for five adults to really stretch out in comfort. And with four large, wide-opening doors, getting in and out is a cinch. There’s also a true elegance and simplicity about the layout. Nothing here is trendy or over-done. The lines flow in a style that’s easy on the eye, complimented by the highest-quality materials applied with painstaking attention to detail. or 2013, the new Ram 1500 offers buyers best-inclass fuel efficiency, new technology and new features without sacrificing capability. Ram 1500 – the most recognizable pickup on the road – delivers best-in-class fuel economy with a truckload of pioneering, fuelsaving systems including first-insegment technologies: eight-speed automatic transmission, stop-start system, thermal management system, pulse-width modulation and active aerodynamics, including grille shutters and air suspension.

Weight reduction is an important variable in the fuel economy equation. Reducing the weight of components improves fuel economy and allows for more content without affecting payload or towing capability. A newly redesigned frame benefits from a weight reduction of up to 30 pounds by using advanced high-strength steels. Also benefitting from advanced metal, new box floor cross-members in the bed eliminates seven pounds and a new front bumper design removes four pounds. Additionally, aluminum lower control arms in the front suspension contribute to additional weight reduction and handling. The Ram 1500 also features an aluminum hood saving 26 pounds.

POWERTRAIN

The new 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine (Ward’s 10 Best Engines Award two years in a row) with variable-valve timing (VVT) offers best-in-class standard 305 horsepower, with 269 lb.-ft. of torque and best-in-class fuel economy for V-6 trucks. New V-6 features 42 percent more horsepower, 13 percent more torque and at least 20 percent better fuel economy when compared to the previous 3.7-liter V-6 powertrain. The legendary 5.7-liter HEMIŽ V-8 with fuel-saving cylinder shut-off and VVT provides 395 horsepower, 407 lb.-ft. of torque and best-inclass fuel economy for V-8 trucks (at least 10 percent better fuel economy when compared to 2012 V-8 powertrain). The class-exclusive eightspeed automatic transmission (TorqueFlite 8), standard equipment with 3.6-liter V-6

The Ram 1500 has been updated to provide better efficiency without sacrificing its tough performance credentials. Pentastar, doubles the amount of gears compared to previously available four-speed automatic transmission, which improves drivability and enhances fuel efficiency.

APPEARANcE

The new 2013 Ram 1500 continues to maintain its ruggedly handsome appearance with new exterior design elements. Extensive wind-tunnel testing honed the 2013 Ram 1500 exterior shape, resulting in continued best-in-

class aerodynamics. Also, the cooperative application of active aerodynamics and modern styling led to a six percent aerodynamic improvement on the new truck.

SuSPENSION

Best-in-class ride and handling gets even better. The 2013 Ram 1500 is now available with an all-new air suspension system featuring five height settings for optimum ride and aerodynamic performance. The feature operates automatically, or may be controlled manually via

console or key fob controls. Another benefit to the new air suspension is load-leveling capability, which automatically detects load on the suspension from a trailer or payload. The air pressure increases until the vehicle reaches normal ride height, leveling the truck and improving the loaded ride. Additionally, a separate button on the key fob gives the operator the ability to manually lower the truck, allowing for ease of passenger entry and reduced tailgate lift-over height.

INTERIOR

For 2013, new features and technologies create opportunity for a redesigned interior with material upgrades; improved fit and finish; all-new interior themes with different colors and materials; all-new HVAC controls and new multimedia systems. The 2013 Ram 1500 also features an exclusive eight-speed transmission with a new rotary e-shift dial design. Rear occupants can enjoy the same quality, fit and finish as the driver. With points of contact a priority, new premium materials, colors and designs are now on all four doors.

Its first North American application was in Mazda’s bestselling vehicle, the Mazda3, which was refreshed for the 2012 model year with a SKYACTIV engine and transmissions. CX-5 is the first global vehicle to receive all SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY components. Under an expansive hood lies the SKYACTIV-G 2. 0-liter gasoline engine. Developers of the SKYACTIV-G engine were aiming for a lightweight design that produced more from less. At 13:1, SKYACTIV-G features the world’s highest compression ratio for

a mass-produced car. Coupled with an all-new 4-2-1 exhaust system as well as redesigned pistons and other components, challenges associated with high compression (such as knocking and operation on 87-octane fuel) were resolved. As a result, SKYACTIV-G is 10 percent lighter, delivers more torque, improves fuel economy and lowers emissions when compared to the MZR 2. 0-liter gasoline engine.

While safety never comes second,

having the peace of mind to never have to worry about it in the first place is just as important. Being a compact SUV that doesn’t compromise, CX5’s SKYACTIV-Body and SKYACTIVChassis ensure a vehicle structure as reinforced and quiet as it is rigid and absorbs impacts. Standard safety offerings include six airbags (front, side and full sidecurtain), four wheel disk brakes, anti-lock brakes (ABS), daytime running lights (DRL), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), a Traction Control System (TCS) and a tire pressure monitoring system

he new 2013 Chevrolet Traverse crossover-utility vehicle offers families a new gathering space with greater style, refinement and safety. It builds on the space, comfort and efficiency that have made Traverse popular. “The new Traverse is a family vehicle without compromise,” said Chris Perry, vice president, Chevrolet Global Marketing and Strategy. “It is more capable than many sport-utility vehicles, with as much room as a minivan and better functionality than both. The Traverse is clever, capable and confident – and there when you need it most.” The 2013 Chevrolet Traverse has a new, athletic exterior design, complemented by a more expressive front end that introduces a new face for Chevrolet crossover utilities. The front features a new shape supported by a powerdome hood, a three-bar upper and two-bar lower grille design, new lamps, chrome accents around the grille and fog lamps, and sculpted front corners similar to the Malibu sedan. The new design captures the overall character of Chevy’s new car lineup, for a consistent family resemblance. “We have injected a stronger presence into the Traverse exterior by focusing on the details,” said Phillip Zak, GM director of exterior design. “The small but important changes give it a more vibrant personality that more closely reflects the lifestyles of the families who rely on the Traverse to get

Adding to the overall feel of quality, the fit and finish of the interior panels have been improved on all models. The new Traverse will come with three interior color choices, in cloth or leather, including Ebony and Mojave, Light Titanium and Dark Titanium, and Ebony.

Space is the hallmark of the Traverse interior. With its classleading spaciousness, comfortable and flexible seating for up to eight adults, and more cargocarrying capacity than any other vehicle in its segment, the 2013 Chevy Traverse builds on these

established attributes by offering an interior environment with new features and refined appointments. Upgraded materials include softtouch surfaces on the instrument panel and front door uppers, contrasting stitching, chrome and silver accents, and available blue ambient lighting that flows through the cabin. A new center stack showcases a 6.5-inch color touch radio with the available Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system. MyLink allows customers to seamlessly integrate their smartphones for

hands-free calling through the audio system and Bluetooth streaming of popular internet radio favorites Pandora and Stitcher. The center stack also has large and illuminated climate controls that are easier to use and have a more upscale feel. The front seats now feature articulating head restraints that can be adjusted up or down and fore and aft for greater comfort. The eight-way power passenger seat includes leather trim. New wood trim treatments are standard on LT and LTZ.

The Traverse is among the safest vehicles on the road today, previously earning top honors and recognition from leading third-party organizations and in government crash testing. For 2013 it enhances its safety reputation with the industry’s first front center air bag. It is engineered to provide additional restraint to drivers and front passengers in far-side impact crashes, where the affected occupant is on the opposite, non-struck side of the vehicle. When a severe impact occurs, the air bag deploys in milliseconds from the inboard side of the driver’s seat and inflates between the driver and front passenger, providing added protection for both front occupants. “While no restraint technology or feature can address all body areas or all potential injuries, the front center air bag is designed to address field-relevant, side-impact crashes that are not addressed by current regulatory or consumer metric test conditions,” said Gay Kent, GM executive director of Vehicle Safety.

ollowing record sales in 2011—the sixth-generation Jetta’s first full year on sale in the U.S.—the best-selling model in Volkswagen’s line-up receives a number of technology and interior comfort updates for the 2013 model year. Suffice to say, the only German engineered compact sedan just got better. Starting with the popular 2.5-liter engine models, standard updates to the SE trim include chrome-trimmed interior switches, new decorative metallic trim on the dash and door panels, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, shift knob, and handbrake lever. Additional interior enhancements for front-seat occupants include an adjustable center armrest and power-recline on both seats. Exterior enhancements include a chrome radiator grille and chrome window trim. The SEL trim adds a six-way power driver seat with manual lumbar support, sport-comfort driver and front passenger seats, and a soft-touch dash. A two-tone blackand-beige interior complements the changes for 2013. A new trim, SEL with Navigation, adds the acclaimed Fender Premium Audio System and the RNS-315 touchscreen navigation system to the very well-equipped SEL. Yet even the entry-level Jetta models come extremely wellequipped. The 2.0L Jetta S, with a starting MSRP of $16,675, has standard air conditioning, onetouch auto up/down power

At the front, the coupe-like incline of the windscreen and the consistent use of horizontal lines define the Jetta’s design. The horizontal blades in the grille, together with the blades in the lower intake, are designed to make the Jetta appear wider and more dynamic.

Jetta tDI

Similar to the 2.5-liter gasoline trims, all TDI Clean Diesel models receive interior and exterior enhancements. All models now include power-recline driver and front passenger seats in addition to

a leather-wrapped steering wheel, shift knob, and handbrake lever. A new iridium trim enhances the dash and door panels. The exterior now features a chrome radiator grille along with chrome window trim. The top-of-the-line TDI Premium with Navigation trim includes a sixway power driver seat and a new 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheel that differentiates it from the 16inch standard wheel of other TDI models.

Marketing experts call it “classup appeal.” It’s the offering of more, for less. Which is why, when Volkswagen completely redesigned the Jetta for the 2011 model year, it crafted a bigger car, with a longer wheelbase and 2.9 inches added to the overall length. A key benefit of the Jetta’s extended wheelbase—it stretches an incredible 104.4 inches—is a truly spacious interior, with impressive rear-seat legroom of 38.1 inches. Long legs can rejoice. The gently arcing roofline also means more than ample headroom of 37.1 inches for rear-seat passengers. And stretch-out legroom in the back isn’t achieved by a cramped front seat either. Being tailored primarily for an American audience—the U.S. is the Jetta’s biggest market globally—there is no shortage of legroom and headroom up front. Just open any of the Jetta’s wideangled doors and the quality of materials, the fit and finish, and the clean, simple, refined elegance of the cabin is clearly visible. And in true German tradition, the layout of the fascia, the positioning of the switches and controls, and the clarity of the oversized, round instruments is designed to be ergonomic and intuitive. Trunk space also borders on the cavernous. The Jetta offers a classleading 15.5 cubic feet of usable load space.

he 2013 Chevrolet Spark mini car, Chevrolet’s first mini car for the U.S. and Canadian markets, is a sporty four-passenger, five-door hatch. It is designed to excite first-time buyers and city dwellers with its bold styling and colors, affordability, the safety of 10 standard air bags, fuel efficiency and maneuverability. Spark also is the only car in its segment to provide a seven-inch color touch screen radio capable of displaying smartphone-based music, videos, photos and contacts for hands-free calling. Later, an app for full-function GPS navigation will be available. Though compact, Spark offers more passenger and cargo room than other mini cars such as the Fiat 500, Smartfortwo and the Scion iQ. Equipped with the Ecotec 1.2L four-cylinder engine and five-speed manual transmission, Spark offers competitive fuel economy. In the U.S. and Canada, Spark is offered in LS, 1LT and 2LT models. Chevrolet’s exclusive MyLink infotainment system, which features the personalized connectivity of Pandora and Stitcher internet radio, is standard on 1LT and 2LT Spark models. In addition to MyLink, Spark is the only car in its segment to provide the added value of a five-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty and the safety and security of OnStar. The original version of the Spark is already on sale in Europe, Asia, Australia, Mexico and South America, where it has received

Power

The Spark, Chevrolet’s first mini car for the United States, offers a great combination of efficiency and value. several styling and safety awards.

Design

Just as the Chevrolet Cruze and Chevrolet Sonic helped strengthen Chevrolet’s position in the smallcar segment with their morethan-expected value, the Spark is designed to challenge preconceived notions of how an affordable mini car can look, feel and drive. While the Spark looks like a three-door hatch, designers cleverly disguised the rear doors

by integrating the handles into the C-pillar area. The technique gives Spark its sporty appearance without sacrificing five-door comfort and utility. An integrated spoiler over the rear hatch door enhances Spark’s dynamic appearance while also improving the car’s aerodynamics, for fuel efficiency.

Technology

For Spark, Chevrolet MyLink consists of an AM/FM/SiriusXM Satellite Radio (with three trial

months of service) stereo with seekand-scan, digital clock, Bluetooth streaming audio for music and select phones, six speakers and voice recognition for connected phones with this capability. It operates by integrating the owner’s compatible smartphone and stored media – via Bluetooth, plug-in outlet or USB – with the radio. This lets owners enjoy simple, safe and personalized connectivity while their smartphone is safely stowed. MyLink is simple to use: The

In the United States and Canada, the Spark is powered by an Ecotec 1.25L dual-overhead cam fourcylinder engine with continuously variable valve timing that delivers SAE-certified 84 horsepower. It is mated to a standard five-speed manual transmission, and a fourspeed automatic transmission is available. The Spark achieves an EPAestimated 34 mpg in combined city and highway driving with the manual transmission, and 32 mpg with the automatic transmission. It also uses regular unleaded fuel, while the Fiat 500 requires premium fuel.

hanDling

Spark’s body-frame-integral structure is tight and stiff for sportier driving dynamics. The electric power steering and MacPherson strut front suspension are designed to deliver taut, tight handling characteristics that better connect the driver with the road and provide outstanding overall stability. Anti-lock brakes, StabiliTrak electronic stability control and Hill Start Assist are standard.

Veloster adds turbo engine

maximum efficiency, usability

yundai Motor America recently introduced the all-new 2013 Veloster Turbo armed with 201 horsepower. Veloster Turbo is one bookend to Hyundai’s turbocharged sports coupe line-up, paired with the refreshed 274 horsepower, rearwheel drive 2013 Genesis Coupe 2.0T (Turbo) also debuting recently. “The Turbo further broadens Veloster’s hero role in the Hyundai line-up to attract our next generation of buyers,” said Mike O’Brien, vice president, product and corporate planning, Hyundai Motor America. “It’s powerful, hightech and fuel-efficient, attributes which we think make Veloster Turbo the ultimate innovation in the sport coupe segment.” The 2013 Veloster Turbo arrives in the Summer of 2012, facing off against worthy competitors such as the Volkswagen GTI, Honda Civic Si and Mini Cooper/Clubman S with a better power-to-weight ratio than all of them, and a unique sporttuned steering and suspension hardware set.

Turbo

The 1.6-liter turbocharged GDI four-cylinder engine in the 2013 Veloster Turbo produces 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque with regular fuel. The Veloster Turbo is estimated to deliver 27 mpg city and best-inclass 38 mpg highway for manual transmission models. Hyundai’s 1.6-liter Gamma turbocharged

in the steering were upgraded for the Veloster Turbo. Veloster Turbo features a quicker ratio steering rack and a revised steering calibration to match, which both give drivers precise cornering, feedback and control. To handle the power enhancements and keep with Hyundai’s commitment to making fuel efficient vehicles, Veloster Turbo is paired with a standard sixspeed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission. Both transmissions were developed in house at Hyundai. The Veloster Turbo is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddle-shifter and and Shiftronic controls rather than the base Veloster’s EcoShift DCT

STyle

The funky, modern Veloster adds a turbocharged engine for 2013 that makes 274 horsepower. engine features a twin-scroll turbocharger that when combined with the GDI system, results in instantaneous power delivery. Twin-scroll turbochargers have traditionally been used on more expensive high performance engines, but Hyundai has brought this technology down its line-up from the Sonata 2.0T. Two-wheel inspiration Veloster Turbo’s unique design takes inspiration from a custom high-performance sport bike. One of the most popular sport bike upgrades is to modify the exhaust.

Hyundai designers have removed the Veloster’s trapezoidal center exhaust and replaced it with two larger free flowing circular pipes. These new pipes and the new intake manifold also allowed engineers to give the engine a more robust sound, which will delight enthusiasts. From a bigger, bolder hexagonal front grille, through the sculpted side skirts and new dynamic rear bumper with prominent diffuser vents in the lower fascia, Veloster Turbo’s design adds aggression and aerodynamic stability compared to

the base model. Drivers following Veloster will also notice the Veloster Turbo will be available in a Hyundai first Matte Gray paint. A set of 18inch gray wheels with chrome inserts completes the Veloster Turbo’s recognized style. Veloster Turbo’s face also has signature eight individual headlight LED accents.

Performance

Working in harmony with the aggressive appearance is the finely tuned suspension setup of the Veloster. Only key components

Inside, full leather seats with the word “Turbo” stitched into the seatbacks help deliver a unique look and provide exceptional support and comfort. An exclusive Supervision Cluster offers the driver information in a larger, clearer and more interactive format. This is due to the Supervision Cluster’s two TFT screens located between the tachometer and the speedometer. Heated front seats are also standard on the Turbo version. The center stack and controls also resemble a sport bike fuel tank and incorporate a push-button starter and alloy pedals.

ord Motor Company once again raises the hybrid fueleconomy bar with the all-new Ford C-MAX Hybrid, which is now officially EPA-certified at 47 mpg city, 47 mpg highway and 47 mpg combined – beating Toyota Prius v by up to 7 mpg. Hybrids traditionally have been more economical in city driving than on the highway, unlike conventional vehicles. C-MAX Hybrid is Ford’s first hybrid vehicle to offer 47 mpg across the board. C-MAX Hybrid returns the same fuel economy whether driving cross-country or across the city – stemming mostly from a growing list of Ford innovations that have helped the vehicle to deliver an impressive list of metrics, such as its 570-mile overall range, taking customers from Los Angeles to Las Vegas and back on one tank of gas. “The all-new C-MAX Hybrid is a great symbol of how Ford has transformed into a fuel-economy and technology leader with 47 mpg across the board and a highway rating 7 mpg better than Toyota Prius v,” said Ford Vice President of Powertrain Engineering Joe Bakaj. “We’ve done this with innovation – represented by nearly 500 hybrid patents – while driving costs down 30 percent so we can bring these fuelsaving vehicles to more customers.” C-MAX Hybrid is expected to be America’s most affordable hybrid utility vehicle with a base price of $25,995, including destination and delivery, which is $1,300 lower than Toyota Prius v. C-MAX Hybrid is currently available for order at Ford dealers nationwide.

the vehicle’s efficiency. The Brake Coach feature – part of SmartGauge – helps drivers optimize their use of the braking system so that driving range can be enhanced through proper braking techniques. Redesigned imagery of green leaves shows overall driving efficiency – as drivers improve their efficient driving, they are rewarded with more leaves.

Practicality

Ford’s new C-MAX is available as both a highly efficient hybrid model and as a plug-in car called C-MAX Energi. As hybrid vehicle drivers traditionally saw superior fueleconomy figures in city driving, loyalists maximized their fuel economy through regenerative braking in stop-and-go traffic. But now higher-speed innovations have caught up on efficiency. “City, highway, and everywhere in between, C-MAX Hybrid is EPAcertified at 47 mpg,” Bakaj said. “It’s a win-win-win.”

Power

The power of C-MAX Hybrid

versatility meets practicality

stems from the combination of a gasoline engine and a battery-driven electric motor, providing customers with “real car” performance and capability. C-MAX Hybrid will offer a top speed of 62 mph in EV mode and 188 net horsepower, beating the Toyota Prius v by more than 50 horsepower. When powered by gasoline, C-MAX Hybrid uses the all-new 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine – powerful and fuel efficient and among the most advanced non-turbocharged four-cylinder powertrains Ford has ever offered.

C-MAX Hybrid also offers classexclusive technologies such as SmartGauge with EcoGuide along with the available hands-free liftgate and active park assist.

SmartGauGe

The latest-generation SmartGauge with EcoGuide is designed to help drivers get the most from the C-MAX Hybrid, providing information such as instantaneous fuel economy to help them more closely monitor how their driving behavior affects

C-MAX Hybrid offers room for five people and plenty of cargo – making it perfect for the owner with an active lifestyle. The vehicle has a high roofline – 63.9 inches – offering ample interior space and flexibility. C-MAX Hybrid offers 99.7 cubic feet of passenger space compared with 97 cubic feet in the Toyota. The spacious C-MAX Hybrid also provides greater headroom in both front and rear seats than the Prius v. For cargo, C-MAX Hybrid has 60/40 split-fold rear seats. The seats easily fold flat with 52.6 cubic feet of space behind the first row and 24.5 cubic feet behind the second row. The all-new C-MAX Hybrid is part of Ford’s first dedicated line of hybrid vehicles that also includes the 2013 C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid. Ford C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid is projected to deliver 550 miles of total range, including more than 20 miles in electric-only mode, nearly double the electriconly range of the Toyota Prius plugin hybrid.

Ford C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid is projected to deliver 550 miles of total range, including more than 20 miles in electric-only mode, nearly double the electriconly range of the Toyota Prius plugin hybrid.

he 2013 Chevrolet Spark mini car, Chevrolet’s first mini car for the U.S. and Canadian markets, is a sporty four-passenger, five-door hatch.

Spark’s body-frame-integral structure is tight and stiff for sportier driving dynamics. The electric power steering and MacPherson strut front suspension are designed to deliver taut, tight handling characteristics that better connect the driver with the road and provide outstanding overall stability. he new 2013 Chevrolet Traverse crossover-utility vehicle offers families a new gathering space with greater style, refinement and safety.

The increased dimensions allowed designers to incorporate clear, precise lines and muscular surfaces to impart a timeless elegance, giving the impression that this is a car from a higher class.

2013 Mazda cX-5

Ram back, better than ever

all-new cX-5 is fun, efficient

WEIghT

or 2013, the new Ram 1500 offers buyers best-inclass fuel efficiency, new technology and new features without sacrificing capability.

Styling

The CX-5’s sculptured body features taut, compact lines. Shapely front and rear fenders hug the sporty SUV’s 17- and 19-inch rubber-andrim pairings, projecting a wide, low-slung stance. Seventeen-inch aluminum alloy wheels outfitted with 225/65R17 Yokohama all-season tires are standard on Sport and Touring models. Grand Touring models feature 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels wrapped with 225/55R19 Toyo A23 all-season tires.

The all-new 2013 Mazda CX-5 has an expressive, sporty body that hints at its fun-to-drive roots. fuel economy, design or safety.

SafEty

Just as the exterior stirs the soul, the 2013 CX-5’s interior sparks the senses. Persuasive and impressive, CX5’s interior grabs you — but you’re the one that refuses to let go. The driver-oriented cockpit is intuitive, with a multitude of frequently-used controls within reach. A nine-speaker Bose Centerpoint Surround Sound System with AudioPilot was jointly developed with Mazda to please even the most discerning music enthusiast. The all-new 225-watt sound system uses premium lightweight materials and components yet offers sound clarity and performance similar to larger, bulkier sound systems.

The instrument panel is similar to that of Volkswagen’s flagship model, the Touareg. Available chrometrimmed gauges surround a digital

T

he Chevrolet Volt has established an entirely new segment in the global automotive market.

The gearbox features a new torque converter for improved driving feel, silky smooth shifts

ats challenges world’s best

a new formula for luxury

he all-new 2013 Cadillac ATS compact luxury sports sedan is the brand’s entry into the world’s most significant luxury car segment and is designed to challenge the world’s best premium cars.

HiPer Strut is based on the MacPherson strut front suspension design and features dual-path top mountings that separate the transfer of spring and damper loads to the body structure.

uick recently introduced the all-new 2013 Encore – a luxury small crossover that delivers Buick’s signature style, interior acoustic refinement and collection of luxury amenities in a maneuverable, versatile and efficient package.

A reinforced crankshaft and forged connecting rods deliver additional strength.

ighter and more fuel-efficient, faster and more agile – with an all-new lightweight design body and completely revamped chassis, the latest generation of the Boxster is setting new top scores for Porsche Intelligent Performance.
