Welcome TO
THE 26TH ANNUAL BET ON RED SALE,
2023 is setting itself up to be the most successful Bet on Red Sale we’ve ever had. The Western States Red Angus Association Board of Directors has worked incredibly hard over the last year to ensure that this is an event that none of us will soon forget. They have implemented so many amazing additions to our week in Reno. If there’s any year I could encourage you all to make the trip to Reno, Nevada, this would definitely be the year.
It is a true privilege to have the opportunity to work with the best Red Angus breeders in the country, in helping to execute the Bet on Red Sale. A genuine highlight of my year is the chance to visit with each and every one of you; to get to know your families, programs, and goals a bit better and talk about the exciting future ahead.
We are so blessed to be a part of a breed that is experiencing positive and rampant growth. The demand for Red Angus cattle is stronger than it has ever been. Cattle prices are experiencing positive movement, and the future looks bright in the cattle markets for the next few years. There may be no better time to find that up-and-coming donor or acquire a few breed-leading replacements to strengthen the herd and provide high quality bulls to market over the next few years.
With herd visits complete, I can without a doubt say this year’s Bet on Red will prove to be the best event to date. I am humbled by the willingness of so many long-standing, reputable ranches to consign their very best replacement females to the auction block in Reno. Top quality cattle come from top quality breeders, and I would challenge you to find a better set of cattle, embryos, and semen anywhere in the country. This catalog is packed full of some of the best Red Angus cattle you can find. We welcome all to a weekend packed full of great people, and breed-leading Red Angus cattle.
If you are unable to join us in Reno, please plan on tuning into DV Auctions for the Bet On Red Sale. If you need any additional information or assistance prior to the auction, be sure to contact myself, Garrett Knebel, or any of the other representatives that will be there sale day. Arrangements can be made with consignors to assist in delivering the cattle, or there will also be capable truckers that can be contacted to help get them home to you.
For those of you able to attend, we are looking forward to an incredible event in Reno!
With Sincere Appreciation,
- Garrett KnebelONLINE BIDDING

This is 6R’s 25th year consigning to the Bet on Red, and we have around 20 years of combined WSRAA Board service…when we say we care about this event, we mean it! With Riley’s term as President coming to an end, and to celebrate the growth of this event to the premier Red Angus event in the nation, we wanted to show our love for the Bet on Red with a truly dynamite donation heifer. We just hope that the lucky winner of this female will have the chance someday to pay it forward to this event that we care so much about, and have passionately supported these last 25 years.
Tidy Bee 318L’s ripped front and chiseled face, bold-sprung rib cage, and flawless structure, combined with an impressive and balanced EPD profile, make her one of our favorite females ever brought to Reno. Her dam is a beautiful young Quarterback daughter, and we all know what these Quarterbacks are capable of! We retained her first calf, a full sister to 318L, as our favorite replacement female last year. Her sire, 9 Mile Rebelde, has outperformed nearly every AI sire we have used over the last four years. The proof is in the pudding on this one…you really can’t go wrong with this mating!

Whew!! this one hits you hard! We could rave all day about how much we like this female…but you’ll just have to see her in Reno to believe her! The Copperlass family needs no introduction here, going back to our Denver (and Reno) Grand Champion Female, the great 6R Copperlass 910. Another Copperlass sold in the 2022 Bet on Red to Ryan Boner of Glenrock WY for $9,000!
Her sire, Bieber CL Energize, is another one who needs no introduction, taking the breed by storm and siring some of the most unique and impressive progeny we have ever seen. If you’re looking for a female that can stamp bulls with power, muscle, and balanced numbers, but still feminine enough to produce superhigh quality replacements and show females, this is one of the few that actually can do it all!
Lot 1
This one flat out hurts to let go of. An Energize calf by a Quarterback cow…they just don’t get much better than this. 303L is only her dam’s second calf, and when you see her maternal sister in Reno as a bred heifer (or scan the QR link), you’ll see why we are hesitant to part with her.
Every generation of the Miss Hobo family has won at least one regional show for us, and 303L’s dam, Miss Hobo 024H, was a Res Division Champ in the incredibly tough junior yearling division in Reno in 2021. She turned more than a few heads with her super long, chiseled front, massive rib cage, and extra-dark red hair coat. She also loves to strut around with her neck held straight up and her head cocked down…a trait that this calf shows off too! With elite calving ease and exceptional carcass EPD’s, 303L won’t have to win a show to earn her keep, but it never hurts to have the opportunity!
Remember 6R’s $1,000 futurity purse add-on...if you win the futurity next year with a 6R heifer you’ll win $3,500!

One of our favorite things each year is our time spent at the Annual Bet on Red Sale. The last few years have been extremely rewarding, watching our heifers find new homes in Indiana & Iowa. With a desire to consign our very best to the Bet on Red, this year we offer BARH Trisha 311; a stunning daughter of H/H EEG Stealth 9122. For those who don’t know, Stealth 9122 is the first natural calf from the world-renowned Red Angus donor, H/H Stony’s Becca 6800, of which semen is unavailable to obtain. Perhaps the most notable cow-family from the Harmony Hill program, the siblings to Stealth continue to top their sales. Not only does Trisha possess a jaw-dropping look from the side, but she is extremely flexible on the go and has the potential to make a very competitive bred heifer. Out of a Profitbuilder daughter sourced from Niobrara Red Angus, she has a long line of maternal excellence on both sides of her pedigree. If you’re searching for a heifer calf that could compete at any level, make sure to look the Bar H consignment up on sale day.

This is an exciting opportunity to buy one of the first C-T Reputation 0094 females to sell. She comes with an exceptionally feminine phenotype, beautiful front end and a solid foot and leg set. She presents a dark cherry red color with extra muscle and shape. She is backed by one of our extremely maternal cow families “The Tina Cow Family”. Her dam carries a 101 MPPA and is a cow that will make you look twice out in the pasture! C-T Reputation 0094 was our high selling herd bull to Overmiller Red Angus, KS, and Niobrara Red Angus, NE. He is a top C-T Red Rock 5033 son with calving ease, extra muscle, and capacity, along with a solid foot and leg structure. He sired our top selling sire group in the 2023 Feddes/C-T Bull Sale and out top seller to Hansine Red Angus, SD. Don’t this exceptional female!

This heifer has fancy written all over her! She has correct lines with extra capacity and muscle. She moves very freely and steps right into herself. If you like a quiet disposition, you will find her to be one of your favorites. Sired by ABS proven herdsire, Bieber Energize, will insure that she will become a productive mother cow and work her way to the top in about any herd! Have you ever noticed that moderate cattle are sometimes your best producing cows? The donor dam of this heifer is without doubt our most consistent and influential matron in our herd. This is our first time ever offering a direct daughter of our B21 donor cow, and the excitement behind this mating is at an all-time high. We just calved out our first resource daughters and they were nothing short of fantastic. And her dam is one of those cows that does not miss no matter what we breed her to. This heifer has moderation, thickness, bone, and incredible structural correctness standing on ideal feet and legs. This heifer is production and maternal traits personified, as she will head to the pasture with tremendous maternal strength. Be excited for her first calf because this heifer is going to really hit her stride when she steps into production and brings you home a front pasture female or new herd sire. We bought her dam almost 10 years ago now as a yearling heifer and looking back she looks like an exact replica of her mom, loaded with characteristics to be a great cow.
This calf comes from a long line of well-known maternal genetics. Her dam from Bullis Creek Ranch has been a cornerstone female for our herd with absolutely ZERO issues calving and great mothering abilities. Her sire, EGL Red Eagle, offers a dark red and powerful look. This combination leads the best of both sides of the industry where production meets modern day styles. She is a long bodied, feminine heifer who is smooth as she walks. She is in the top 80th percentile for three EPDs including; ProS, CED and BW. She follows in the 90% percentile for two of her EPDs, GM and Marb. Don’t miss your chance to lay an eye on this heifer in Reno and see what she’s all about.

If you’re looking for the perfect mix of femininity and power, look no further than DT Revive. Sire VF Mr. Jefferson H002-136X, brings forth an incredible amount of depth of rib while still maintaining maternal traits. Dam DT Revival comes from a long-line of extremely powerful and productive females that built the foundation of Del Toro Red Angus, over 20 years ago. Dam DT Revival swept the 2018 California State Fair earning the title of Reserve Champion Fall Heifer Calf for the exact reasons the Del Toros consigned this heifer; a strong hip, balanced structure, a phenomenal udder, and for being an ultra broody and cowy female. With 12 traits in the top 25 percentile of the Red Angus breed, take advantage of this opportunity to add market traits without sacrificing maternal qualities.
Lot 9
Talk about a stout EPD profile. Top 10% ProS, Top 5% REA, and 12 total breed-leading traits in the top 25 percentile, DT Martini deserves to hold her high up as high as she does. Grandsire CBRA Gridmaster 9Z was incremental in developing an exceptionally productive herd for Del Toro Red Angus and offspring proved themselves time-after-time to be highly desirable for their rate-of-gain and carcass quality. Sire LSF SRR Big Beef B630 adds deep bodied characteristics and the correct amount of thickness and muscle. Combined, DT Martini has a bright and easy fleshing future ahead of her. Enjoy yourself a Martini, and advance your already progressive herd above to the front of the breed.

Here is a heifer we have been waiting 3 years for. 3315 is a full sister to the $130,000 Red U2 Township 17G bull. This heifer puts it all together. She’s got the beautiful phenotype that comes from U2 Beauty 113Z but with added neck extension. As stated by Garrett Knebel out in the pasture while looking at the 2023 heifer crop, “I’ve never seen a 113Z daughter with as much potential in the show ring as her!” 113Z may be one of the most sought-after cows in the Red Angus breed due to the way she stamps her phenotype into every one of her progeny. 3315 has a “Beauty” head that draws into a super clean, rocket fronted neck and shoulder. She carries an extreme amount of depth and rib capacity with extra rib shape. When you view her from behind the rear quarter is abundant. This package is all extremely smooth made. Not only does she have an immense amount of potential in the show ring, but she will also be able to be turned out and she will make a great cow. Her mother has a flawless udder and great feet. Stemming back to Resource 137E, the maternal potential in this heifer is extreme. We are so excited about this heifer that we are retaining the right to 2 flushes or 12 embryos at our expense and the buyer’s convenience.

356 may very well be the best Reputation heifer we have produced to date. We had made up our minds we were not going to sell any ET heifers but who are we to tell Garrett no! This heifer combines the best of our old genetics as well as our newer ones. 9130 was a prolific donor for us raising top selling bulls and heifers every year. Her calves always have as much front-end extension as any calves on the ranch. 9130 was one of the most maternal cows we produced, and she passes that down very efficiently. You will find her in the pedigree of many cows on the ranch. Her near perfect udder and outstanding feet at 14 years of age were what we want all our cows to look like. Reputation sired calves have been some of our top calves for the past 2 years. They grow exceptionally well, have more eye appeal than almost any sire group, carry excellent foot and leg structure and are what we are trying to produce. Reputation has been one of the most talked about bulls in the breed for the last 3 years and will continue to be this year with the set of calves on the ground again. This mating has proven to give a more attractive front end than most Reputation females. The maternal traits of 9130 crossed with the growth and carcass traits of Reputation are a deadly combination.
I have no idea what we are doing here, thanks a bunch Garrett for convincing us to do this! This may very well be your only chance in 2023 or beyond to buy a Drifter H10 female anywhere in the country. Drifter was a bull we found in 2021 that we tried to buy. We ended up being the contending bidder. We were not able to get semen until 2022 and used it sparingly which we are thankful for as he is now deceased, and the semen is gone. These calves are the real deal. The maternal traits in these heifers is incredible. Across the board they are our best sire group of heifers on the ranch and arguably that we have ever produced. We have not been more excited about a group of females in years. We have limited straws of semen left and have been flushing heavily to this bull and will continue to until we have no more. 326 is dark cherry red and stands out in a crowd. She was Garretts pick of all the Drifter heifers and for good reason. Drifters sire, Basin Hobo 0545 has already left his mark on the breed with his daughters, and we believe the Drifters will be better yet. When you go through the pedigree on this heifer you will find many of the greatest female producing bulls in the history of the breed. We believe in these genetics so much that Feddes Red Angus would like to retain the right to 2 future flushes or 10 embryos at the seller’s expense and the buyer’s convenience.

MATERNAL POWER! That’s the definition of this heifer. This female just put it all together. The diversity of the Sophia Cow family in the vigorous terrain of Nevada to the east coast humidity. The words tuff and resilient come to mind! It’s the phenotypical package that can win banners in Louisville to the Cow Palace. On paper she shines bright, with top 23% herd builder to a top 6% Grid master and top 4% ProS. We believe she will be a great show prospect but a breeding piece for any discerning cattleman across the country.

This heifer has the potential in the show ring and in your pasture. The impact the Abigrace cow family has had on our herd and on the industry is amazing! Flatiron Abigrace 312 tops them all looking back at her dams feed conversion from a yearling to a 4-year-old cow. The 920 Abigrace cow has been great not only in the show ring but on pasture. I was given the opportunity to buy and show her as a heifer in 2020. From watching her mother as a yearling and 312 half-sister grow I have seen nothing but growth and dominance in them. Not only is she blessed with Abigrace she also had a hint of Baneberry/ Firestorm in her pedigree from the Flatiron Hazard 713 bull that won the Wyoming state fair champion bull, and the Red Western classic Junior Bull. This heifer is not something you want to miss out on!

Posting a very impressive set of EPDs; DKK Impress 3045 has put it all together in a gorgeous package. Garrett does a very fine job of selecting cattle, he can pick one for me anytime.

We can always count on the Lautenschlager’s to bring their best to Reno and this year is no exception. Dory Jiba E1L is a dark red, stout made female with extra depth through the center of her rib cage. You will be hard pressed to find a female with the combination of this pedigree and EPD profile. This mating is no accident… back in the ’20 Bet On Red Sale, a full sister was featured and topped the sale to our well-spoken junior member, Ayven Moon, from Ellensburg, WA. She went on to win 8 shows in 5 states, and capped it off winning the Futurity at the ’21 Bet On Red. Another full sister resides at Klompien Red Angus in MT.

Here is a pretty special little lady! Abigrace D185L is right from the top of Carl’s program, and she has the power and looks to go with her exciting fresh pedigree. Her sire, Duff No Regrets 1710 2080, was Carl’s pick of the bulls in the ’22 Power Genetics Bull sale. A total outcross, he is line bred combining his sire, Duff Black Ink, with his maternal sister. No Regrets was unfortunately lost prematurely, so this is a rare chance to obtain a daughter from his first and maybe last calf crop. The dam, Abigrace A188D, is a maternal sister to the breed legend, 9 Mile Franchise 6305, out of the famed Abigrace Y11 cow. She is one of the top producers in the herd, earning a 108 MPPA with a 110 AWR on her 5 natural calves.

One of the drawing cards for the Bet On Red Sale and the newly named Western National Red Angus Show, is the great amount of participation from the kids and the ability for them to bring back sale females to the Futurity. Abigail 9289-3102 has the look to make a great Futurity heifer for some lucky kid next year… this fancy made, proud heifer is just an April baby! Her dam, Abigail 9289, is royally bred, stacking her outcross carcass leading sire, MCD Spur 6111, with growth leader, 5L Out In Front. The foundation dam, A7180, was Seth’s pick of the heifer calf crop in Brown’s historic ’13 dispersal sale. Last year her Captain heifer calf was also a Bet On Red consignment and sold to Hansine Ranch in Pierre, SD.

In the sport of bowling three strikes in a row is called a ‘Turkey’. Well the Rachel 668 cow at Leachman’s just bowled a ‘Turkey’, producing her third natural heifer in a row to be selected for the Bet On Red Sale… and this one might be the best one yet!
Last year her maternal sister by Guidance sold to Grace Stott in Redmond, OR and she has went on to be named Supreme Champion Female at the Dechutes County Fair this summer. Back in the ’21 Bet On Red her maternal sister sold for $11,000 to Iron Triangle Ranches in John Day, OR.
Her dam, Rachel 668, can flat raise one now! She stems from the famed Rachel cow that was the founding donor dam in Kurt Rich’s herd in Iowa with over 70 head of progeny to her credit. This spring, her ET Red Box son was one of the most talked about bulls in the Red Angus circles, and he sold to Steady Run Genetics in IA for $50,000.

This dark red smooth made heifer is super easy fleshing, making her an easy keeper. L637 is very well balanced in her skeleton, as she is correct on her feet and legs and fluid when you set her in motion. She also has a strong topline that carries into an expressive hip and stifle. Heiress is half a sister to our NILE 2023 sale heifer, who is also sired by Lost Creek Intensity, who was sold to Redland Red Angus. L637’s dam is out of another bull we raised, Lost Creek Don Julio, who sired our calf in Bet on Red sale last year. She is very progressive in her ProS and Herdbuilder EPDs, this along with the dams in her pedigree, make her a highly maternal female. Her combination of traits will make her a great cow that will produce stout calves.
Lot 26
This beautiful heifer is an absolute sweetheart. With her sire being STRA Relentless, genotypically she’s very progressive with multiple EPD’s in the top 20%, top 2% in ProS and top 3% in Herdbuilder. The first thing that hit me the hardest when Garrett and I saw her was how feminine she was combined with an enormous amount of capacity in her center body and a bold rib. Next was her eye appeal from the profile with the way she balances, how smoothly she transitions from her front into an attractive set to her hip and hind leg. Letting this one go was a hard decision, as she is the complete package phenotypically and genotypically which is rare to find.

This stylish heifer has really been coming on. We took three heifers to the Umatilla County Fair and this one came out on top (there were other heifers in the class). Her dam is a daughter of Outlier which brings in some new blood and expands the possibilities. Her sire is Freight Train who really put his mark on this year’s calf crop. He comes by his name honestly. Red Countess 311 ranks in the top 25% for ProS, herd builder, weaning weight, yearling weight, HPG, and stay.

We take this show and sale very seriously and it Is always painful to look at the cream of the crop and choose an entry. This year’s heifer would clearly be one of the top one or two choices for putting back into the herd. We are excited about 305 because on the dam side, she represents a cow family we introduced in 2005 when we purchased Echo Jane 5578 from Larry Rew. Some generations later we have Echo Jane 305, an early January daughter out of Freight Train, a bull that is really making a difference in our herd. We are impressed with her length, her topline, her overall scale, her femininity, and the way she stands on her feet. We also like her EPD scores for weaning weight, yearling weight, and ADG. Salee J165 is the one of two powerful bred heifers from the Shick’s in Montana, and she comes to us with a very unique and exciting pedigree. A top performer, this deep ribbed heifer posted an impressive 110 WR with only a 70 BW.
Her sire, TJS Birthright E118, is one of the breed’s big EPD spread bulls, offering up a 15 CED and -3.0 BW with a 91 WW and 138 YW. He combines the calving ease of his sire, Beckton Heritage, with the growth and power of his maternal grandsire, Leachman Pledge. Maternally she stacks 9 Mile Franchise and 5L Blockade.
She is ultrasound examined safe in calf and due 1/28/24 with a bull calf to TJS Four Corners J018, the powerful Badlands Cinched son out of a Blockade dam that was the lead-off bull in Shick’s bull sale this spring.
Lot 46
After a one-year hiatus from the Bet On Red Sale, the Shick family is back with a vengeance this year… and they’ve brought a pair of beautiful bred heifers to the event! Red Honesty J098 is a dark red, super long and level topped female with performance and style to burn.
She offers an outcross pedigree starting with her sire, Red U-2 Nova 627F, the $15,000 Copenhagen son that sired the $217,500 NIO Mojave 2029 bull this spring for Niobrara Red Angus in NE. Maternally she is out of a daughter of Black Brylor Kodiak 204Y, the outcross son of HF Kodiak out of a New Trend 22D x Hobo 1961 bred dam.
She is ultrasound examined safe in calf and due 2/7/24 with a bull calf to TJS Four Corners J018, the powerful Badlands Cinched son out of a Blockade dam that was the lead-off bull in Shick’s bull sale this spring.

CLASSY! A word to describe this female. Clean fronted, bold sprung in throughout her middle, and a big hip to match. She owns these pieces and wears them proudly. Her future is bright as she continues to grow into a cow. Her dam and sire are both bred and owned individuals from my herd. Her dam, Miss. Mckenzie 6E is a 6-year-old that has not missed in my small herd. 6E’s dam was a Haycow Cutting Edge 055 daughter that put her stamp within my herd. Excellent milk, feet, and disposition which is the gift that keeps on giving within this pedigree.
Lindsey 3L’s sire “Sam Malone” is a Flying W 111X son that made a big statement for Flying W Red Angus over in North Dakota. Flying W 111X is a PIE Gridmaster 589 son. Sam Malone has had great success in the show ring at the Red Western Classic and the first calf crop from Sam have me excited. Neat fronted, long bodied, sound, and the performance on these calves is remarkable. Lindsey 3L comes presented to you in a really complete package with a neat pedigree, disposition, and phenotype. I have no doubt in my mind that “Sugar” is destined to do great things in her future.

These maternal sisters are stand out females that will be extremely competitive as show heifers and pillar donor females for the future; they are both a unique genetic opportunity. If you’ve been to Red Western Classic the last few years, the MyMy name will sound familiar as this cow family has been the cornerstone of our program. It all starts with the foundation cow, Damar MyMy D047, who claimed Grand Champion Female of the 2016 Red Western Classic show as a heifer calf and many more banners. Since then, MyMy’s have claimed numerous show ring titles, including 2021 Western National Reserve Champion Female in the Junior Show and Bred and Owned Champion Female, 2022 Western National Reserve Female and champion Cow/Calf Pair in the Open show and Grand Champion Bred and Owned Female in the Junior Show. What makes these March and April heifers extra special is they are the first MyMy female bloodlines to be offered up and leave the ranch, let alone from the one who started it all, D047. Both heifers are high performance heifers that put everything together in a sound made, big boned and massive rib shape package.

A full sister to these embryos was a highly talked about heifer at Bet On Red in 2022 selling to the Cox family in Washington. This particular cow was a former Lot #1 in Brylor’s “Tradition with a Vision” sale back in 2020 at $30 000 for a 1/2 interest to MAVV Farms. She is a very predictable combination of Franchise 6305 and a superior Mulberry daughter 408C. These females all trace back to the Agribition Supreme Champion Red Cow named STEN Essence 42G (a post $50 000 1/2 interest cow to Mark Mackenzie!) As one can imagine 613F’s udder is absolutely perfect being a Franchise/Mulberry joining. Her first two daughters have sold both as heifer calves for $7250 and $6250. The sire used on this flush was one of Canada’s most recognized bulls in U-2 Reckoning (sire of John Wick). He has over 700 progeny registered to him in Canada and countless other all over the world. DONOR: FEDDES BLOCKANA 863-E90
REG #: 3737273
SIRE: TAC DRIFTER H10 REG #: 4392039
E90 is a cow that we have fallen in love with. In our search for the next set of Donors she stood out due to her phenotype, foot quality, udder structure, pedigree and production record. She checked all the boxes and boasts an MPPA of 104. Her pedigree is stacked with cow makers in Red Rock, Redemption, Oles Oscar, Big Sky and Hobo 1961. We believe that crossing E90 with Drifter H10 will not only produce superior females but also bulls that will be highly marketable. When we found Drifter in 2021, we thought he was a bull that could move our program forward. The calves we have on the ground are proving that our thought process was correct. We will offer our first Drifter sons for sale this spring and believe they will be highly sought after. We will be having many more offspring this spring and will continue to make embryos with the semen we have left. We will not be offering many more Drifter embryos for sale after today. We are really excited about these genetics.

Now for the really cool part here folks – the very first package of embryos to EVER sell by the awesome now rising star in Moon Pie!! He was the $95 000 high seller at the SSS Bull Sale in March.
