< Sunny Street Acrylic on canvas 30x30cm $380.00

the artist alex snellgrove I see things worth painting just about everywhere I go. I can see beauty and interest in what might seem humdrum or banal scenes and subjects – it’s not an effort, because for me, the subjects take second place to the feelings they inspire in me and which prompt me to produce artwork. I live in an urban and suburban environment, so some of my work reflects moments on the streets, parks and footpaths. I enjoy drawing and painting buildings, people and traffic, cafes, and even shopping malls. Sometimes nature inspires me, but it’s usually in combination with other elements. Often, changing light is a catalyst for these paintings. I currently teach drawing and painting for adults at North Sydney Community Centre and Waverley Woollahra Art School, and tutor a number of talented children privately. I am a member of two sketch clubs, and sketch constantly. About the artwork ‘Blue Still Life’ Treasured domestic utensils and ordinary objects catch the light as they sit on a blue and white Indian tablecloth. A tube of red paint reminds us that this is an artist’s table. There is an air of quietness and peace in this interior. ‘Sunny Street’ A quiet moment in a quiet street. A lanky man leans on a wall as he waits. Its winter, and the sun is warm.

the artist alexandra plim Alexandra is a Sydney based artist working from her home studio in Lewisham. Alexandra attended Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga, completing a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Design. She went on to complete her training as a performer in Sydney, with an Advanced Diploma in Acting. Alexandra has been selected as a finalist in the Hunters Hill Art Prize 2018, and this year exhibited at The Other Art Fair Sydney. Alexandra also opened her home studio to visitors, to participate in the Inner West Open Studio Trail in March 2018.

About the artwork ‘Autumn Days on the Beach’ was painted in London, when were staying near Hampstead Heath. The expanse of green-space,reminded me of home and family trips to the South Coast. We spent many a windy afternoon on the beach. Too cold for swimming but perfect for collecting shells and daydreaming. ‘Finding Teal’ is part of a little series of experiments for a recent commission. The composition is intuitive and expressive and just what we were looking for- bright, moody, chic and masculine. ‘Blue Horizon’ was also painted on Hampstead Heath. I fell in love with the rough texture of the Indian Cotton paper, which I had bought in Edinburgh, and I was determined to use it on my travels. I love this kind of painting. Nowhere too specific, but just enough to convey the feeling of a place.

< Soaring Seagulls Watercolour on Fabriano paper Framed 23x32.2cm $285.00

the artist heidi hereth I have been drawing and painting all my life. To me, painting is a meditative process, immersing myself in the sea mentally, spiritually and physically. I frequently use Coogee Beach as my studio. In 1981 I started teaching graphic design at Randwick College of TAFE on a part-time basis. From 1993 I taught as a staff member at the Enmore Design Centre till my retirement in 2011. My teaching duties had an emphasis on colour theory and drawing in the later years. During that time I never stopped painting but my exhibiting activities concentrated on small venues such as local cafes. I won first and second prize in the Botanic Gardens Sketchabout Art Prize in 2010 and was hung in the NSW Parliament Plein Air Painting Prize in 2012. I paint in watercolours and acrylics, preferring a transparent style with a hint of fantasy.I love to nature, particularly the sea, both above and below the surface. My work is represented in private collections in Paris, Germany, England, Thailand & Australia. About the artwork I love the simple pleasure of watching seagulls soar into the wide blue sky - their pristine whiteness and red beaks and legs against the blue. I have tried to capture this effect and feeling in watercolour on Fabriano paper.

< Here IV Acrylic on archival polyester film on Perspex frame 33x33cm $395.00

< Here II Acrylic on archival polyester film on Perspex frame 33x33cm $395.00

the artist jac font Jac Font lives and works in Sydney, having graduated from UNSW Art & Design with a Master of Arts (painting) in 2017 after a career change from raising children and previously practising as a solicitor. Font has exhibited in many group exhibitions, including at 220 Creative Space, Kudos Gallery, Gaffa Gallery, Factory 49 and at The Other Art Fair as well as St Cloche Gallery as a finalist in the Little Things Art Prize. Her works reference the boundaries of external influence and seek to loosen the stereotypes that bind individuals into categorisation. In this exhibition, the works Here II and IV move outside such limitations. About the artwork The series ‘Here’, including these works II and IV, is my ongoing response to the more stifling aspects of rigid systems, plans and expectations. There is relief in creating these fluid non-objective and self-determined shapes, particularly when they seem to overcome these pressures, making me both grounded in the moment and also bringing a sense of lightness. I call it ‘here-ness’ and when a work achieves it, I am ready to let it go and I can exhale.

< Anima Plumarum 17 Princess Parrot Watercolours on Fabriano Artistico Paper Framed 30x35cm $360.00

the artist lamice ali Lamice is both an artist and a scientist, and her passions fuel and feed off each other, allowing her to create and educate. She utilises her knowledge of the natural environment in her art, and uses art to remind people of beauty and complexity of the world around them.

About the artwork It’s a simple pleasure of mine, to go for walks and to collect discarded feathers, interestingly coloured leaves, or beautifully patterned snail shells. I like to take the time to painstakingly capture what I see in paint, so that I can share the effortless beauty of natural things that we may overlook in our hectic lives. Next time you’re out and about, look around you, and take some pleasure in those things you may have otherwise overlooked.

< Day 26 Daily abstract artwork using mixed media on paper Framed - 32x23.5cm $330.00

< Day 23 Daily abstract artwork using mixed media on paper Framed - 32x23.5cm $330.00

the artist pascale reuter To me, the abstract art is a total freedom of expression, to create something that is different and unexpected! Sometimes it’s a way to have fun exploring with media and colors, sometimes they are created as an expression from my heart. Each one is different, and the interpretations of each oneis solely dependent on the eyes and vision of the viewer. Through my work, I find myself expressing sentiments or reactions of which I am consciously unaware and allowing them to create a dialogue of colours. About the artwork Day 26 Day 23 Daily Arts Conversation on paper using different mediums to express an emotion. A challenge as well as a daily meditation. How to silence the mind? How to bring the awareness from our autopilot to pure consciousness? A daily task, a meditative state or a time to observe the chaos inside. To let the day bring the story and to allow the colours and shapes to put words on paper

< Barn Owlets Acrylic and pen on timber board 10x10’’ $390.00

< Honeyeater and Wisteria Acrylic and pen on timber board 10x10’’ $390.00

the artist renee mitchell I have dabbled in art throughout my life. My earliest memory was on the walls of our Haberfield home at the ripe age of 3. I remember this more for the scrubbing of the walls than the actual works. My nurturing family replaced the walls with paper and so my love affair with creating blossomed. At 13, my landscape oils where entered into a local (adults) competition, where I won first and second place. Today I combine her traditional drawing and painting technique together with free form lines to create movement and emotion in my works. These works are predominantly portraits of a kind. Birds, wing frantically flapping, or gracefully gliding. Four legged friends gazing out at the viewer or simply mind their own business. I set out to capture a personality, a tone, a feeling, be it from a raging bull or loving pet.

About the artwork Barn Owlets The simple pleasure of share whispers between young and innocent siblings Honeyeater and Wisteria The simple pleasure of sampling sweet treats is not lost on any creature

^ ON TAP Photography Framed - 35x40cm $175.00

the artist sandi beynon Her name is Sandi Beynon and she is a true bird and wildlife nerd. She grew up in Tamworth, country NSW, where she inherited her love of birds and photography from her father. Her Dad was an amateur artist into sketching and watercolours. Sunday jaunts in the old Holden for inspiration to the surrounding countryside were the norm. Arts events and school fetes were always a must on the local social calendar, and not just for the Devonshire Tea on offer! After 15 years working as a medical researcher she decided to pursue her passion and now works in her dream job as the head nurse at a bird and exotics veterinary hospital and lives in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney where ample photo opportunities exist to photograph our beautiful native wildlife. She has turned her passion into a small hobby business “SandiSnaps” and hopes to share it with more people. To this end she is a member of the Randwick Art Society and regularly exhibits and sells her greeting cards, prints and calendars at Art and Craft Exhibitions in the Eastern Suburbs and beyond. ^ Cup #7 Glazed stoneware 5x5x5cm $100.00

the artist beatrice waller Beatrice Waller is an emerging artist primarily engaged in ceramics, textiles and performance art. Originally from Warialda, NSW she moved to Sydney in 2016. She is currently in her third year of study at Sydney College of the Arts completing a Bachelor of Visual Arts. A fascination for the tactile object draws her to sculpture. She is interested in the material world and how this relates to spirituality and her experience of faith. She also is concerned with the handmade object seeking to embrace the individuality of each piece through their imperfections and highlight the marks of the maker. About the artwork Cup #7 is a celebration of the handmade utilitarian object aiming to embrace the beauty of simplicity and the individuality of imperfections. The work arises from the learning of skills in throwing and glazing and a newfound appreciation for handcrafted objects. It is the seventh of a series of 37 small, off-white cups and is the most flawed featuring a noticeable scar, making it the most distinct of the vessels. It explores tactility being in the form of an object usually handled and used. Cup #7 also aims to accentuate the subtle qualities of its simple form found in the marks made through the process of making; qualities not found in ‘perfect’, mass-produced objects. Being the most flawed of the series, it highlights the beauty of imperfections seeing them as strengths rather than weaknesses. It promotes the handmade and attempts to embrace the subtle joys of everyday objects.

the artist karina vallins Karina is an Australian mixed medium contemporary artist based in the Sydney Northern Beaches. She has a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art – Visual Culture) and is passionate using glass in innovative works. Each piece she creates is handmade and unique. Karina started using recycled glass as a way of giving a new life to it, rather than filling up land space as rubbish. Glass is a valuable, beautiful and useful substance which comes directly from our Earth and should not be wasted. It’s sensuous when soft and molten and it’s cold and hard when its being cut. It takes you on a journey whether you are viewing it or creating with it. Karina’s art starts with recycled shards of broken glass which melts to liquid and joins with heat ultimately setting to take shape. This takes time with design, format and placement. Time in the kiln and temperature used creates the outcome of the artwork. What fascinates Karina about glass is it has a life of its own. Some of her favourite pieces are the ones, which been in the kiln and formed their own shapes. Glass art illustrates that it cannot always be planned: some of the best things in life come from what is unexpected! About the artwork MAGMA I started using recycled glass as a way of giving a new life to it. It is not filling up land space as rubbish. Made in the form of decorative glass plates, each one made different like the people who once used this glass. Tic-tac-toe is a game for two players, X and O, who take turns filling the glass spaces in a 3×3 grid. The player who succeeds in placing three of their marks

in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal row wins the game. Each piece is individually designed and no two are the same each one different like the people who play the game. TOUCH OF SPRING I started using recycled glass as a way of giving a new life to it. It is not filling up land space as rubbish. Made in the form of decorative glass plates, each one made different like the people who once used this glass. OCEAN I started using recycled glass as a way of giving a new life to it. It is not filling up land space as rubbish. Made in the form of decorative glass plates, each one made different like the people who once used this glass.

^ Temporality 70 ^ Temporality 63 Glass, Eucalyptus leaf 3.5x5x0.4 cm $65.00

the artist madi daugaard Madi Daugaard is a young artist originally from the Central Coast, NSW. Currently in her last year of a Bachelor of Visual Arts at Sydney College of the Arts, she is particularly interested in fragile and ephemeral qualities, materials and concepts. Where a large portion of her work contains the delicacy of watercolours, Madi Daugaard incorporates natural forms and mediums including Australian native leaves, wood and rice paper, as well as recently dappling in the contrasting materiality of glass. Her temporal techniques and materials lead her to engage in concepts of and raise questioning into existence and impermanence.

About the artwork Temporality 70 Temporality 63 Temporality 70 and 63 are Australian eucalypt leaves fused between layers of glass, creating a preservation of the decaying process. Their entrapment sees a denial of their inevitable expiration. The delicacy of their properties align with the imminence of deterioration and create a questioning of anything said to actually have permanence. The assigned numbers relate to the age in days of an unborn, human fetus of the same size, exploring a relation to ones beginning and their irrevocable end. The safe keeping of their glass cases brings an undeniable beauty in aging and the intricacies amidst the broken and the temporal.
