Community Involvement Each year, The Teacup Attic sponsors the cost of shipping gifts to a senior's home in Mississauga, Ontario. Thanks to a grassroots initiative organized by one of the late resident's granddaughters, Kelly MacQuarrie, many seniors who would not otherwise receive gifts at Christmas can now celebrate. Many are without visitors at all and pandemic restrictions have increased the feelings of loneliness and isolation. We are proud to participate in lifting the spirits of this group of seniors.

LONDON FOG Earl Grey Tea Latte by The Cup of Life Ingredients 1 tablespoon Earl Grey black tea, loose leaf (or 2 tea bags) 3/4 cup boiling water 1/3 cup milk 1 teaspoon sweetener of choice (ie. sugar, maple syrup, honey) 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract Instructions 1. Steep earl grey tea in boiling water for 5 minutes, covered. Covering your tea while steeping will retain heat and, therefore, help extract all of the flavours. 2. While the tea is steeping, simmer milk in a small saucepan on the stove. Using a handheld frother, froth the warm milk until it is fluffy and cloud like (about 30 seconds).* 3. When the tea is done steeping, strain the tea leaves or remove the tea bags. Add sugar and vanilla. Stir until dissolved. 4. Top the cup of tea with the frothed milk and serve immediately. Enjoy!

4 tablespoons cold salted butter, cut into pieces 1 cup plus 1 tablespoon cold heavy whipping cream
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°. 2. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. 3. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt, whisking well. Using a pastry blender, cut butter into flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. Add 1 cup cream, stirring until mixture is evenly moist. (If the dough seems dry, add more cream, 1 tablespoon at a time.) Working gently, bring the mixture together with hands until a dough forms. 4. Turn out dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead gently 4 to 5 times. Using a rolling pin, roll dough to a 1-inch thickness. Using a 2-inch fluted round cutter, cut 12 scones from the dough, rerolling scraps as necessary. Place scones 2 inches apart on a prepared baking sheet. 5. Brush tops of scones with the remaining 1 tablespoon cream. 6. Bake until the edges of the scones are golden brown, approximately 20 minutes. 7. Serve warm.

Fleischman's Shortbread Cookies This is the recipe my mother used to make shortbread cookies during the holidays when I was a kid. It's the recipe I use now every Christmas when I get busy baking all sorts of treats. DIRECTIONS
1c flour
1. Cream together all ingredients
1/2 c corn starch
2. Roll out into 1 inch balls.
1/2 c icing sugar
3. Flatten onto cookie tray with fork.
3/4 c butter
4. Chill in fridge for 30-60 minutes. 5. Heat oven to 300F. 6. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown around edges and bottom.
