Happy NEW YEAR! As we celebrate the New Year and look back on all we’ve learned and gone through, we are reminded once again about the importance of YOU, our Associates! You are the ones who make OPH-DFW all that it can be–and share our vision with all of Dallas-Fort Worth! As part of that, each restaurant had an opportunity to brag on their associates–especially ones that embody our core values. This period’s theme was our core value, “We serve enthusiastically.” We asked leadership to introduce us to Associates who embody hospitality–who go out of their way to serve Guests, to help their co-workers, and brighten everyone’s day with their enthusiasm! Thank you to ALL of our Associates who serve our Guests well–and a special thanks to these Associates ahead!
Hospitality Enthusiastic Associates! Meet Chesna James, a serve-enthusiastic associate at UP! Chesna recently moved to Dallas from Atlanta where she worked in several different OPH franchises. She always has the warmest smile for everyone! You can’t work alongside Chesna and be in a sour mood! Her overall presence and spirit uplift all she comes in contact with. Chesna is excellent at all FOH positions and assists UP in Hosting and serving alike. She helps us keep our to-go business flowing smoothly whether she’s hosting or serving. She will always find time to help her teammates and Guests alike. Introducing Fred Beasley, a HOH Associate who primarily works as a dishwasher. But Fred is no ordinary dishwasher as he will do ANYTHING we ask him to! He helps us portion condiments for carry out, assists the prep crew with overflow work, and maintains the cleanest dish area! Fred meets servers and Guest Assistants alike bringing dishes back with the most respect and hospitality! He always goes out of his way to do more and serve more. Meet Delmi Herminia Escbar Ortiz & Jesus Morales Morales. They live enthusiastically to serve here at UP. Delmi and Jesus are chefs that go above and beyond each and every day to make certain that the servers get the best quality food in a timely manner. Jesus is an allstation chef who also keeps all of our prep moving. He also assists in checking in orders and putting away trucks keeping all of our food rotated and helping keep our food costs in line with attention to detail on the prep lists. He also often jumps up to the cook line helping get the food moving when we need extra help. Delmi is the warmest and kindest person we’ve ever had the pleasure of working with! She is fast and efficient but also pays strict attention to overall food quality. Delmi is very responsive to the service staff when they call in items they need or have special instructions that need to be followed. These two chefs make UP a Great place to work!

This is UP’s Amanda Tidwell, she’s living to serve enthusiastically! She always comes in ready to go and lend a helping hand to others. She always stays to help her fellow team mates re-set for the next shift. She goes out of her way to be fair to her fellow associates. She takes all new hires under her wing to make certain they get the best possible training experience. She is bi-lingual and always makes certain our HOH team has a voice. She leads birthday celebrations and makes baked goods to celebrate as a team. She always has a positive attitude and helps make this a fun place to work!
It is my pleasure to introduce you to Joi Beckett. Joi is a absolute pleasure to work with, she always has a smile on her face and a hand to lend. She is quickly becoming a leader in the restaurant, people naturally gravitate towards her warm personality. Joi comes to us from a long line of military service, she grew up all over the world but lucky for us she has settled here in the DFW area with her two kiddos ages 4 and 8.

Leaders inspire others–and we had the opportunity to celebrate them! Our Leadership Appreciation Night brought our Leadership Team together for a time of laughter, celebration, and passing out welldeserved Leadership Awards. Many of these leaders took large paydecreases during 2020 to help maintain as many positions as possible during the pandemic. They also invest their time and energy and care into building up their teams and ensuring everything runs at the highest quality! We are grateful to be able to acknowledge the work they do, and all the accomplishments they have reached! A special thank you to Margaret McKoin for covering and arranging both the food and venue. We are grateful for every member of our Leadership Team and the way they embody service and care by positively impacting people’s lives!
Celebrating our Associates, and all that you do! "All of the Original Pancake House staff that greets customers and puts us in the waiting line for the next available table are extremely polite, professional and great people. And every server we have had was equally polite, professional and great. This restaurant is so good that on weekends and holidays, there is often a wait list. But the staff makes this waiting period very manageable. Just wait in your car and they will text you when your table is ready. P.S. - Last week, our outstanding server was Justin. Thanks to all. A Word From the Owners
If most people were asked to describe the last year or so, they would probably say “hard.” But when we look at OPH-DFW, and all you have done, we would describe it as “celebrating strength.” During a difficult time, our Associates have kept a positive attitude, and adapted to provide outstanding, quality service to our Guests. And we’ve seen the many ways our Leadership Team has celebrated this! From birthday parties, to maternity-leave parties, to Halloween parties, to plain just-to-celebrate parties, there have been opportunities for our whole team to praise and celebrate each other for their good work.
