UNION GOSPEL MISSION IMPACT

MESSAGE FROM THE CEO FAITHFULLNESS

Oct. 1, 2022 to Sept. 30, 2023

As we think about Easter and the fact that 2024 marks the 75th Anniversary for Union Gospel Mission Dallas – we are overwhelmed by the Lord’s faithfulness. Seventy-five years ago a group of people who believed in the redeeming power of the Gospel set out to provide food, shelter, and clothing and share the hope of the resurrection story with those in need in the DFW area.

117,802 Bible Study Attendance

1,833 Spiritual Decisions

69 Current Disciples

134,807 Chapel Attendance

16,252 Counseling Hours

6,537 Addiction Recovery

Then seventy-five years later – we continue to be dealers of the hope found in a relationship with Jesus Christ. God has the power to transform lives and end homelessness one person at a time. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!“ 2 Corinthians 5:17

God is still at work seeking and saving the lost, and we are so grateful to be a part of what He is doing in the homeless community here in Dallas. We want to thank you for your faithfulness in praying, volunteering and giving. We each have something to offer. We invite you in 2024 to get involved with the mission of UGM Dallas and come see God at work.

DIAMOND JUBILEE CELEBRATION

During the freezing temperatures that affected Dallas in January, the UGM Dallas Search and Rescue team hit the streets encouraging the homeless to come in out of the cold.

The team offered hand warmers and cups of hot cocoa as they prayed for and shared the Gospel with individuals on the streets.

During the week-long freeze, UGM Dallas was able to make a significant impact on the lives of the homeless.

WE HAVE A STORY TO

Have you ever considered how God wrote the most thrilling story ever told?

It includes incredible highs, the lowest of lows, betrayal, rejoicing and YOU were on His mind as the story unfolds.

At UGM Dallas, every day we have the opportunity to see God’s children who are in need of a Savior. Whether bad decisions or circumstances of life have led them here, they all need the Hope that only Jesus can provide.

Dr. Philip Riegel, serves as a Chaplain at UGM Dallas. “My first experience at UGM Dallas was preaching to over 300 men. I’ve never experienced anything like that. They were so hungry and thirsty for the Word of God and just hung on every word – knowing it was words from God.”

Parker Hall is a UGM Dallas Volunteer & Advocate. He says, “Get involved. Come, listen to their

stories. Experience God working in their lives. I’ve had the opportunity to serve at UGM Dallas in the kitchen and handing out food on the streets. There is a sense of community in this place. I immediately felt invited in and welcomed like I was part of the crew. These men are bonded by a common sense of purpose, the Spirit and they labor together with a smile on their face, laughing and enjoying one another. You definitely need to experience this.

Earnest is a U.S. Army Veteran and faithfully served in the US Army for 8 years with his most recent tour in Germany and Poland assisting with the Russian-Ukraine conflict. After being discharged from the VA, they referred him to UGM Dallas. “Having a place you feel safe and secure is the most important. A place where you can develop relationships and talk with other vets has been so helpful.”

Ernest is working toward his certification in IT as a software engineer so he can teach computer science. He encourages others in a similar

TO TELL

situation to “ask for help. You can’t help yourself in a vacuum - you need others.”

“When you donate, you’re multiplying your power to change the community in a positive way. There are people that need your help.”

As you celebrate Easter this year – we challenge you to take the greatest story in history and share the Hope it offers with someone who needs to know they are loved, forgiven and have the opportunity to live a changed life. Please continue to pray for the homeless men, women and children at UGM Dallas.

How Creating a Will SHOWS YOU CARE

Before Dr. Gary Chapman was a bestselling author, he was a husband in a struggling marriage. His wife was frustrated that he didn’t help around the house. He was disappointed she didn’t respond to his encouraging words.

When they realized they expressed love differently, the discovery led to Gary’s book The Five Love Languages, a resource that has helped millions of people.*

Have you ever thought about legacy planning as an act of love? It’s a loving deed that:

• Serves your family. Creating a will ensures your financial house is in order, your final wishes are clear, and your family is saved stress and expense.

• Shares what matters. Your will allows you to’ communicate with your loved ones about your cherished beliefs and values.

• Spreads the love. What better gift to give than one that changes lives? That’s the impact you have when you leave a gift in your will to UGM Dallas. Your loving generosity embodies these words from Mother Teresa: “Love has no meaning if it isn’t shared. Love has to be put into action.”
