Secretary:
March signals the end of winter/cold weather and subsequently is when people start getting out and using the amenities more often. Having the amenities we enjoy at Hamilton Mill such as tennis and pickleball courts, a soccer/lacrosse field, basketball and volleyball courts among others can be both a blessing and a challenge.
The blessing is that it gives our homeowners many opportunities to engage in activities without leaving the neighborhood. The challenge is that our nice amenities are desirable to people who live in neighboring communities who may want to “borrow” them for their pleasure.
Over the years the Board of Directors has tried several methods to curb abuse of our amenities by non-residents. What we have discovered is that the best, and most sustainable model, is using off duty Gwinnett County Police Officers for this service. Our plan is to continue that model for the foreseeable future.
Those of you who study the HOA budget have undoubtedly noticed a significant increase in our amenity monitoring budget between last year and this year. This was necessary to remain competitive in the rates that we pay for these services and to allow for more thorough coverage in amenity monitoring.
The single most helpful thing you can do is to ensure that when you, or your unsupervised children, use our amenities that you have your amenity ID with you. Our Gwinnett County Police Officers have been instructed to ONLY allow a Hamilton Mill amenity ID as proof that someone is allowed to use our amenities. Residents are NOT allowed to show their drivers license as proof that they live in the neighborhood. As a reminder, any child 12 years of age or older can have their own amenity ID.
Additionally, make sure that you are following the guidelines outlined regarding how many guests are allowed to accompany a resident. In many cases we limit a resident to bringing 3 guests with them to use an amenity such as tennis, pickleball or basketball. Another story that our officers hear is the “We are waiting on our friend who lives in the neighborhood to get here. Guests of residents are not allowed to use our amenities unless the homeowner is with them.
If you cannot find your amenity ID please call the Property Management office at 678-546-3737 to schedule a time when you can get a new one.
As always, we thank you for your assistance in ensuring our policies are followed.
Board of Directors, Hamilton Mill
