FALL FESTIVAL 2017 WRAP UP Fall Festival 2017 was a blast, despite the yucky weather that threatened all day. We went ahead and brought the festival inside the clubhouse with the 90% chance of rain that was forecasted all day. Heavy downpours held off–and Hamilton Mill families and friends were able to enjoy the petting zoo, eat from the Fruit Smashers food truck, pick a pumpkin from the patch and paint it in the covered art area, and enjoy FREE popcorn and cotton candy. Inside, we had a HUGE obstacle course inflatable, face painting and balloon animals. Belle visited for a while and read a Halloween book to the children called “5 Black Cats”. Wonder Woman arrived and did super hero training. Then, Moana floated in on a wave and did hula hoop contests with the kids!
Shout Outs! Thank you to all of our wonderful vendors for being flexible and moving inside, and a huge shout out to Hermes Realty Group for sponsoring this event! Thank you to the MCHS Beta Club and Boy Scout volunteers for your help with the event… we could NOT do it without you! Thank you to all that brought in coats for our One Warm Coat Drive… we collected 68 coats for those in need. We hope you had a fun and safe Halloween!
It was a great time! All the kids looked great in their costumes and got to take their pumpkins home along with lots of prizes and candy!

WARM UP... With This Slow-C ooker Hot Chocolate + Marshmallow Snowman Topper Ingredients for Hot Chocolate Yield: 6 cups • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk • 1 cup heavy cream • 2 cups milk chocolate chips • 4 cups 2% milk • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Ingredients for Snowman Topper • large marshmallows • pretzel sticks • 1 tube black icing • candy corn (use that leftover candy corn from Halloween!) Directions Set slow cooker to the low or warm setting. Combine all hot chocolate ingredients into the slow cooker and mix well. Cook mixture for approximately 2 hours, stirring every 20 minutes. While the hot chocolate is cooking, build your snowman toppers. Start by assembling the body. Connect three large marshmallows using pretzel sticks. Place pretzels in the sides of the marshmallows to create arms and legs. Add a candy corn piece to the head, making an edible nose. Draw on the eyes, mouth and buttons with icing. Once the hot chocolate has cooked for at least 2 hours, you’re ready to pour and garnish with your snowman. Courtesy of HGTV.com and Brian Patrick Flynn, FlynnsideOut

from Jeff Dudacek, Director of Tennis We made it to December. The tennis calendar starts to wind down and all leagues will end by the 16th. It might be winter but we still have plenty of drills and lessons going on when the days are above 32 degrees. Of course this is the time a year where winter will show its ugly side. It can be 60 one day and 20 the next. Whether it is scheduling league matches or a fun match around Christmas shopping, school parties and team parties - December always tests your patience and stress levels. The pros are here through the holidays for lessons if you need to get out and relieve some stress. Remember our ‘Toys for Tots’ round-robin, pro shop sale and new drills for the winter. TENNIS TIPS
TENNIS TIPS How to Become a Good Doubles Partner Have you been playing with same team for several seasons? Do you end up playing doubles or taking a doubles lesson 3 or 4 week? Is your calendar booked out with each league season? Your popularity might be because you’re a good tennis player, but is more likely because you’re a good doubles partner. There are many theories on finding a doubles partner and how to be an effective team. Some say both partners should have similar games, some say you should find a partner with opposite style. Whatever you choose, you need to build on your partnership during each match and adapt to different opponents as a team. Like it or not, one of the keys to having fun on the doubles court could rest on the hands, and in the head, of your doubles partner. Because doubles is about a team, instead of an individual as in singles, the dynamics of a match are out of the control of one individual, but instead dependent on both team members. The key to your success in doubles, besides basic strategy, is the strength of your team and teamwork. The better you know your partner, and your partner knows you, the more success you’ll find on court. Here are a few tips to becoming a good partner.
• Communicate with each other (not food assignments) • Don’t state the obvious (get your return back) • Discuss strengths and weaknesses (not your strengths or your partners weakness) • Talk during the game (not with your opponents) • Recommend strategy (recommend not dictate) • Support your partner (during the match) • Be positive on court (as a team not individually) • Keep it light (don’t grab for a lite beer) • Do not blame your partner (think what your mom would say) • Take the “we” attitude (not the me attitude) • Don’t apologize (especially when you hit the coach during the lesson) • Have fun (no explanation needed) If you can remember only two of the above, the most important keys are for any doubles partnership is communication and have fun - before, during and after the match. Talk during the game and in between points about strategy, and just to see how the other is doing. The best thing you can do for your partner is to be supportive and encouraging.
See ya on the courts!
